It's up there, but the last few seasons have sullied its rep for me. I'd have to put Seinfeld above it now. It was consistently good, as was IASIP before the last few seasons.

Probably top 10.

I don't really like it though because they are just too disgusting. Seinfeld is my favourite and they are bad people but it was at a reasonable level, you know? Like it's mostly petty and insignificant. I was attracted to Sunny because it is similar, but a lot of the stuff is just too much. Like think of the implication.

Curb Your Enthusiasm and the first three seasons of Arrested Development were all I could immediately think of that I enjoyed more than It's Always Sunny. But I did drop Sunny a couple of seasons ago as it was starting to get stale to me. Will go back to it at some point and catch those episodes, as well.

The episode with Jimmy O. and Charlie being a "genius" will forever stay with me.

Somewhere at the bottom of a pile and hopefully never to see the light of day again.

I never clicked with the show but it seems super popular with some

It's absolutely top 10. Especially considering how long it's been running and how consistent it has been all things considered. Early seasons have aged well too.

YMMV on preference for 'black comedy'. if you can roll with it it's way up there, otherwise it's not

Larry David is funny, Jerry is not.

Kinda surprised you don't at least really enjoy the George focused episodes since he's such a Larry David proxy. A lot of the George stories you could insert into an episode of Curb without missing much.

I generally agree that Seinfeld is the weakest character though. He feels more like the straight man or an audience proxy than anything else to balance out George and Kramer.

This is legit one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life. Charlie's speech already had me rolling in the normal ep. But the fucking blooper is just poison to me. I cannot watch this without crying laughing. So yeah, Sunny is top tier.

Very little of the appeal of Seinfeld is Jerry Seinfeld himself. His role is often to act as an apathetic observer of events.
I'm well aware of what Seinfeld is. Curb does it much better.

Seinfeld isn't a bad show, it just isn't a top sitcom for me, it has some classic episodes but much of it falls flat IMO.

The League is in my top 5 along with Frasier, Always Sunny, Curb, and Seinfeld.

I wish "The Mick" had gone on another season because that show was headed in that trajectory.
I'm still pissed they cancelled the Mick. Then to throw salt in the wound they picked up Last Man Standing instead. I was hoping NBC would rescue it along with Brooklyn 99 but it didn't even get picked up by a streaming service.

I don't get the people who say the show has dropped in quality. I'm only three episodes in to the most recent season, but it's every fucking bit as amazing as the earlier stuff.

It's only behind Married With Children.

Can't believe the show has stayed this good this long. The show is trashy as fuck and I love it.

They ended it on a god damn cliffhanger because they were told it was getting renewed too!

Top 10 for sure, together with Frasier, 3rd Rock From the Sun (very underrated), 30 Rock, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Married with Children, That 70s Show, Arrested Development and The IT Crowd.

The way they did a "clip show" last season was just amazing.
I'm of the opinion that it's the best sitcom of all time. I probably casually have the show on a constant loop on Netflix. It's my go to.

It's my favourite show by a mile so number 1 for me! Me and my wife have watched and rewatched it so many times over the years.

I adore it.

Easily my number 1 of all time by quite a margin. Even just going through this thread and seeing the GIFs put me back into those classic moments. So many memorable moments that were downright hilarious.

I can watch more Sunny in Philly. I tried binge watching Seinfeld and only got through like 4 seasons.

Number 2 of all time, right under curb for me. Although even that's debatable because always sunny is more consistent. But I think part of why I feel like that is Larry david himself is the character so the show feels endlessly real as opposed to sunny which is an amazing cartoon

Its like the Simpsons where it was the greatest and now its a shell of its former self. Haven't even finished watching last season and I normally watch them the same day they come out.

Tied for first with Seinfeld. Honestly maybe like 1/100th of 1% better. Frank Reynolds is like Kramer except even crazier, which I love

The options are too limiting for me. I think I'm probably going to go in the lower tier, even though I love the show and think it's hilarious, even I get tired of the hook. Always Sunny is great, but ... for me it's like the band you really like but almost all of their songs are exactly the same. You can listen to the album once, twice, 10 times, and think it's brilliant, but then you just kinda stop playing it for a long time because you've heard the same song too many times. You might come back to it 10 years later and be like "Wow, this was REALLY great," But then, again, it falls off for me.

I've watched the first 3 seasons of Always Sunny and just don't get it. The main characters come across as assholes to that point of it being off-putting, the actors are terrible and I just don't find it funny. Wasn't a huge Seinfeld fan but I'd watch it over this any day.

Quite low.

It's funny but everyone is fucking horrible. There's absolutely no possible relation to any of the characters. Their houses are also all disgusting and unclean so you don't get a homely feeling when watching the show.

I doubt the Seinfeld cast would ever agree to it, but it'd be pretty great if It's Always Sunny ended with the cast going to jail, and they're escorted to the same cell as the Seinfeld cast.

Also, It's Always Sunny is easily in top 5 along with Seinfeld.

For lovers
Better question- where does Dennis rank in all-time sitcom characters?

Because the five star man is easily top 3 for me.
