Completely agree with the Soul Eater comments, if only!

I loved that show to death

Tokyo Ghoul, really. The first season was rushed and lacked a lot of important stuff that was shown in the manga. The second season just didn't care. The story became disjointed, Kaneki was a non-entity for 80% of the series (he'd rather sit in a chair screaming or something like that) and the fact that they tried to keep certain scenes from the original manga without having a consistent story or context to justify them didn't help.

Tokyo Ghoul :re seems to act as if that second season doesn't exist most of the time, eventhough there are a bunch of references here and there. So far, it hasn't led to that many continuity problems since the main characters is amnesic (eventhough the movitations of a certain characte in the latest arc didn't make much sense due to how little time he shares with the MC in the anime compared to the source material). But it's going to be a problem over the next season.

They need to improve the animation a lot too. The last season, especially the first half, did a really awful job at animating any action scene. The art in general is a huge step down compared to the source material too, even in key scenes that should've got a bigger effort by the team.

Yeah. Naruto Pt 1 could be cut down to 100 or so episodes with a kai treatment

The original Naruto series didn't have that much filler in its first half, however. The Rescue Arc ends around Episode 130 so you can probably just edit a bit the last few episodes, condense a bit of stuff and have a much better product without much trouble. Shippuden is what needs a Kai adaptation the most IMO, but they'd probably not do it while Boruto is still airing.

One Piece is the one that needs a properly paced adaptation the most. The series is so slow that there is a fangroup editing the episodes to create a better experience, it's that bad. If you want more info, look for One Pace project.

Not an anime, but A song of Ice and fire can certainly use such a treatment

After only 22 episodes, definitely Cardcaptor Sakura : Clear card .

Manga is only like 5 volumes long and they stretched those 22 episodes sooooo thin I couldn't believe some of them. Filler episode after filler episode, the plot advancing one inch at a time (if anything)

And of course, just when something interesting happens, the season ends.

For fucks sake, don't even start production on the anime if there's not enough material to work with.

Younger me would've said Kenshin, but since the creator was caught with child porn I don't want anything to do with that shit.

Claymore is probably my true answer. Tell it from chronological order too, there are some "extra" chapters about Teresa and Clairs training that didn't get adapted.

Fruits Basket would be a very close second though. Would also be very happy with Battle Angel Alita, or a Nausicaa series.

Sailor moon. I heard the manga is really dark and depressing unlike the anime version
I've read the manga, it's not. It is like Crystal though more laser focused on Usagi, Chibiusa and Mamoru though, to the exclusion of the development of other characters.

Right? Do people have very short term memories, not pay attention or just don't care about the creator?

Don't give a shit for the creator, he could rot in jail for all I care.
People love the work though. ERA needs to understand that not everyone decides to couple everything together.
Kenshin is a fantastic story and that is part of many of our childhoods.

One Piece would benefit from a long hiatus to animate all the cool stuff and pace properly, that's for sure. It will never happen because it's such a beast of a product though.

Bleach, Soul Eater and Claymore?
I mean, I thought you were supposed to pick source materials that maintained a level of consistency, like FMA.

Bleach, Soul Eater and ESPECIALLY Claymore shit the bed HARD as the manga went on.
I still can't believe that Claymore is by the same author of Angel Densetsu, one of my favorite of all time.

Trigun

Trigun/Trigun Maximum.
Someone has to grant us the intelligible versions of the manga fights!
PREACH!

Trigun Maximum is absolutely awesome and more than deserving of a quality anime adaptation.

Another manga deserving of a proper anime adaption is GUNNM Last Order.

I would also absolutely love to see AKIRA fully animated but I'm afraid they could never match the standard set by the movie.

Kenshin for sure.

It doesn't 100% fit what you are asking but think they should re do the original Fate/ Stay Night series. Get ufotable on that.

But he's not in jail; he only paid a small fine. It could be argued that making new Kenshin will give him more money; money he could use on child porn because he's a pedophile. I'm not ok giving money to known pedophiles.

Kenshin is a part of my childhood too. I owned every soundtrack, every DVD, every manga volume and a couple yaoi doujins. I even wrote fanfic. I sold it all when the news came out. Fuck Watsuki

The problem with a Kenshin remake is that the guy would likely earn money off it it. No thank you. If there was a way to Roseanne him out of any sort of money and recognition, I'd be all for it. Don't see it happening.

The number 1 answer is Slam Dunk. They didn't even include the ending! Manga/Anime era needs a massive L for not having any mentions in page 1. I know I'm dealing with nothing but frauds.

Shaman King

Directed by the same guy who did the original FMA, does the same thing midway through the series and totally makes up the second half to avoid overtaking the manga.

Holy shit I never knew this. At least FMA 2003 was still good in some capacity. That final fight in the Shaman King anime was some hot dog water level shit.

Trigun for me. It was probably the second series I actually bought way back when and it's really one of my favorites. Haven't read through the manga though I'm aware it's different than how the anime handled things and I'd love to see it done correctly.

I would like to see a new adaptation of Ultimate Disciple Kenichi. They can then use that as a push to translate and bring over the manga.

I traded Kenshin fansubs on VHS as the series aired in Japan. Owned every Japanese volume of the manga. Don't try to explain to me that "it's an important part of our childhoods!" as if that handwaves away the shitty creator. Kenshin, the manga, is pretty much the singular vision of one dude, the same dude that would get the money (and increases manga sales) from a new animated series. If you think giving a pedophile positive exposure and money is justified because "it was a part of childhoods"... yeeesh

Bleach.

If Bleach had stuck to the manga alone rather than spin off onto the absolutely absurd filler arcs that it had then I genuinely believe the anime would have never been cancelled. Those shit arcs combined with Kubo's dipping quality sealed the fate of the series.

I love Akira the movie, but I would love a more faithful adaptation of the manga.

Gantz doesn't need one. The middle part when the new team comes in is the only really strong part of Gantz and even during that time the author has no fucking clue how to write a female character.

The manga been a mess for a minute now towards the end, but the anime was t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-traaaash. Redo that shit.

+1 for Gantz and Claymore. Although I think I can honestly only watch a 3D version of the former after that incredible movie that got put out.

Claymore because Teresa deserves to have her run back against Priscilla animated.

I hope that in my lifetime One Piece ends up getting remade from the ground up with the love and care of a Hunter x Hunter 2011.

Can they just start at Water 7. Before that the anime was great imo.

But yeah I don't think it'd be a bad bet to think that One Piece will be remade at some point. Probably not for another 20+ years tho.

The problem is that he directly benefits from continued support of the series. Money that went to him as a result of his work was then used to harm children. I'll never spend another dime on anything he is involved with moving forward because of that.

It's Soul Eater.

Hell it's the exact same scenario. Anime project of a popular manga catches fire, anime runs into manga progression, anime creates own ending which people like but is different, manga continues on as if the anime never existed.

The anime of Soul eater never gets to the best stuff in the manga. It's kind of a Bummer that Soul Eater Not got so popular and sort of curtailed the popularity of the original manga due to moe moe sensibilities.

Regardless, where's my anime of Enen No Shouboutai?

So....As seen from the most recent Sailor Moon reboot/remake, turns out the last thing you want is a Sailor Moon project with that the levity and warmth of the original show. Like, I like the new Sailor Moon, but it will never replace the old show which was just...fun most of the time.

I still felt good about the anime during Water 7. I think Impel Down was when it got really bad.

Still, what I want is a total remake. I want amazing budgets for the Alabasta fights.

And, yeah. 2040 at the least :(
