I graduated from MTSU (in Murfreesboro), and it's a damn shame an event like that has to take place. Many friends who I know that are still in school are cancelling events and having get-togethers to make sure everyone is safe. Campus events are cancelled.

Less concerned about the rallies themselves (I'm expecting them to be pretty well drowned out) as I am about the chickenshit Nazis in hiding around these parts that'll feel emboldened.

There has never been a time in the last 6-8 centuries that white live don't matter. While I haven't really actively join BLM protests, They exist because black live didn't matter for the majority of those same centuries in the USA (and western culture for that matter). There's no More at the end of BLM. We just shouldn't have to be afraid for our lives.

This was my exact thought when I heard about this on the news this morning. What better way to prove BLM's points than by getting together with weapons and fire and who knows what all to yell WHITE LIVES MATTER! over and over?

That they've been persecuted and kept down through racism and want society to not only acknowledge this, but treat them as fairly as the world treats white folk. Black lives aren't worthless, they are worth just as much as any other human being.
All Lives Matter and White Lives Matter are some grade A horseshit. All Lives Matter almost seems like it was conjured up as a snark counterpoint to BLM, with the demeaning tone of "No, you are wrong! Black lives aren't the ONLY ones that matter. Don't be so dumb. Beyond the obvious racism entrenched in the White Lives Matter folks, I think these protesters already know this simple fact: white lives have always mattered, and even mattered more than any and all other lives. It is a statement without need of declaration because everything about how society is structured and how systems operate already prove on a daily basis not only that white lives matter but that they matter more than any other.

I thought about going to the counter protest (I'm an hour away in Nashville) but then figured my black ass being there sounds dangerous af after Charlottesville, so my wife and I are skipping.
Why do you think the Nazis labelled themselves as socialists when they were anything but and even attacked and killed socialists? Appealing to economic woes - albeit I really don't think (((economic anxiety))) is really their problem - is a tried and true tactic.
It always amazes me how many conservatives bitch and complain about BLM. It's supposed to be a simple reminder that African Americans are people too and that cops should show the same level of restraint when pointing a gun as they would any other race or ethnicity.

That's why its important i think that the "opposition" unapolagetically own it in the right way instead. There are enough reasonable people in America overall to be swayed if a left wing populist advocates for populism and social justice at the same time, and takes the fangs out of these dudes who are nothing but hate mongers.
But no, we got people congratulating bush and basically trying to mold their base into being apologetic for the "good ones" in the GOP.
Yeah, the nearby university, MTSU, I believe had Nathan Bedford Forest as their mascot. Still have buildings named after him too. I know people in the area that probably support this rally, so who knows.

There was a large campaign from students to remove the names. Legislature passed a bill saying cities can't remove historical monuments without approval...

No. The term was used differently by the Nazi party, hence the confusion. Nazis were against any idea of socialism. Actual socialists, or any left-leaning group, were rounded up and put into camps.
Nazis are as much socialist as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is democratic or a republic.
I can't be surprised about Murfreesboro. They were the same ones that stopped the construction of a mosque a few years ago, then once it finally was built defaced it over and over again. Quite a few bigoted people there.

The Swastika was an ancient Norse symbol as well, which is what a lot of the propaganda was geared with. Which is why being a Norse Pagan is friggin tough to do. We had to make the symbol of the hammer to replace it. Friggin Nazis ruinin everything.
