Because yes, you can tell the way she asserts herself towards him that she knows what she's doing, as clear and cold as if she were drawing out a gun to point at him.
Exactly. Nothing says “I’m being threatened” like physically approaching the other person, having enough time to make a phone call, having enough time to clearly and without panic explain your situation (twice), and stand completely undeterred the entire time while this old dude just stands there with his phone out. She was dead set on weaponizing her privilege in the form of a swarm of police officers from the onset.

Chris was on the board of GLAAD his dad was a Civil Rights Activist as well.

Good to see a black, proud, and successful black man getting some love. This story keeps getting worse for Miss I'M GONNA TELL THEM YOUR BLACK.

She weaponized race so quickly to potentially fatal ends for a very minor reason.

Her feigned fear was so deliberate and seemingly practiced.
There has to be a larger acknowledgment that “protecting white women” has been an excuse for violent murders and riots for literally centuries in this country.

And without video evidence, it realistically could have gotten that far. Police are trained to brutalize black Americans throughout the country.

This one woman being fired isn’t enough for me.

Police are encouraged by way too many Americans to be a force against specifically black Americans. And then use disproportionate statistics to justify the mistreatment.

And people more worried about the dog than the extreme & ongoing militarization of police against black people being so casually weaponized are part of the problem.
That Twitter thread is a must-read IMO. Thank you for sharing it, and for sharing your own thoughts.

I think it's like an actor/actress making themselves cry. She worked herself up into a frenzy and the panic became real.

Because yes, you can tell the way she asserts herself towards him that she knows what she's doing, as clear and cold as if she were drawing out a gun to point at him.
Right on. She wanted to make sure she sounded "distressed" on that call.

No that's a Karen sub-type. Karens are just white women who abuse their general privilege and have an undue sense of self-entitlement. The original Karen is "I want to speak to the manager" Karen.

Karens don't have to be racist. The woman in this video is a super-Karen.
There's certainly a lot of white privilege with Karens, they're using their power as white women to be entitled to shit so even if not calling the cops on black people, there's definitely race involved.

This guy has spent his life teaching others the beauty of nature, writing books and introducing diversity to comics.

Karen works at an investment firm to help rich people get richer and throws a tantrum when asked to follow the rules.

To think that Candace Owens is rigorously trying to craft a "he was no angel" narrative around this dude.
I was ambivalent for a second at first because on he shouldn’t have to be so amazingly perfect to be a victim of a generic callous racist white person, but it gives me so much life knowing all these assholes are gonna break their noses walking into that wall.

This might also finally give pause to the “dress better”, “be a model minority” people who think that couldn’t happen to them. I genuinely wish it opens their eyes.

Obviously she's a huge weirdo - as people who know her have pointed out - but on repeat watches one of the weirdest things about her is the speed she approaches him at. She's almost running at him.

Apropos of nothing...absolutely nothing...

But Mr. Cooper is 57 years old...
Always some motherfucker trying to ice skate uphill.

Yep!

And somewhat related but I saw this tweet while observing Black Twitter go to work on this story:

And it struck a note with me. Amy Cooper is a white Democrat, and as such probably doesn't consider herself to be racist. But that speaks to the prevalence of labels and creating in-groups and out-groups, and one of the downsides to that is this thinking discourages introspection -- i.e. if you don't identify as a Racist you don't ever need to reflect on your behavior and attitudes. Obviously not...because introspection is only for The Racists.

Amy might not be a racist (I think she is). She's a Democrat, she voted for AND donated to Obama! I'm pretty sure she's got Pod Save America merch. but what's more important here is that she did not hesitate to leverage her power as a white woman making an accusation against a Black man as soon as the opportunity presented itself. And it's worth pointing out that people who don't view themselves as racist nevertheless do versions of this all the time.

And it's sad because it makes you wonder how many Black people have had their lives altered or experienced trauma at the hands of white people who, while thinking they were firmly in the "Not Racist" group, nevertheless acted on racist ideas and beliefs thinking that was perfectly fine. We see this in schools; we see it hospitals. Apparently, we even see it in bird parks.
This is on point and why White liberals can be just as, if not more exhausting to deal with than conservatives at times.

I'm not glad this woman got fired—I wouldn't wish that on anyone in this economy—but the Universe is fair and she got what was coming to her. Fuck everything about her behavior. In addition to being fired, she should also have to attend classes or workshops to address her racism.

Yup, as soon as “African-American man” came out, I had to shut the video off before I got too heated. This is the sort of racism that comes from years of vile, horrid shit churning away in her brain that has been bursting at the seems to get out and this guy confronting her was the perfect outlet for her to let it fly. Glad she’s fired. Glad it’s on video forever.

What a disturbing video; shows how easy it is for racists to weaponize the police force in this country. And to think that many black people have been in similar confrontations without a camera or any kind of social media platform to report the incident.

WTF, get called out for not leashing her dog and her response is to weaponize the police against a black man? Fucking hell that's a fragile psyche.

This why time and time again on here a lot of y’all piss me off by acting like this shit only happens in the “South” or “red” states, like living in a “blue” state with a bunch of would be 3rd term white Obama votes would some how create a safe space for my black ass. It’s insulting when y’all bring politics into black people getting treated like garbage by white folks. Racism doesn’t have a party line...

he really needed to record this? Clearly the racism is awful and good for him to get it on tape. but what was he doing before that outburst? recording her walking her dog without a leash? why?
lmaooooo I know you took an L and got banned, but I hope you're not implying he would have gotten off scot free if not for this recording. A "helpless" white woman crying to the cops about being attacked by a black man? You bet your ass he's not coming out unscathed. As a black man I can't even both watching all of the video. It's scary as hell that people can get away with this shit with minimal consequences. She could have ruined his life.

Truly disgusting. POC in America need to start wearing bodycams like the police, I mean the technology's there.
