This shit makes my blood boil. Nothing in that apology is sincere.
I'd like to say the same, but that apology is the absolute rote expectation from racists, so...

For what? She probably got a six-figure severance package.
If an investment firm can concoct a reason not to pay out the severance and pocket that money for themselves, you best believe they'll do it. Let's hope there's language in her contract to let them.

... good god, my hate for this Karen is strong enough that I'm actively encouraging Wall Street dirtbags to do what they do best. That's an odd feeling, but I'm good with it.

Many white liberals are racists. This is not a new thing. Read about NIMBYs, which are a white liberal special, f you want more shockers.
It cannot be said enough, so I'll scream it again so folks in the cheap seats get the message:

RACISM AND WHITE PRIVILEGE CAN AND DOES TRANSCEND PARTISANSHIP.

You still doing this...and still looks like victim blaming.

You say you don't want to defend her but you keep finding reasons for why she's acting why she did, rather than out of racism, it's because she's a woman and women are inherently scared of men and black men more so, or because of racial conditioning. But she sure turned on that hyperventilating and panicking act like a switch. This ain't crazed behaviour or mental health issues, this is plain old weaponised racism to present to the white power situations like the cops so she can eliminate this black man from existence. Like I don't get the point to try to guess what's going on in a racist's head.
Yeah, people also need to get through their heads that racists, misogynists and bigots aren't inherently unhinged. Far more often than not, their hinges are exactly where they always are. Racism and bigotry is not mental illness.

At first I was confused and thought this was a typical Karen story (given the original thread title), but watching that video, wow....
Depending on the colour of your skin, this IS a typical Karen story.

Apparently she's Canadian so maybe she'll return there.
Probably not... or at least I kind of hope not for the sake of my countrymen of colour. If I've learned anything, some racist Canadians leave our country because it's not racist enough for their tastes. And for those who don't know, Canada's pretty damn racist even at the best of times, so that's saying something.

No that's a Karen sub-type. Karens are just white women who abuse their general privilege and have an undue sense of self-entitlement. The original Karen is "I want to speak to the manager" Karen.

Karens don't have to be racist. The woman in this video is a super-Karen.
Pretty sure you have the order of events backwards.

NEW: Christian Cooper, the African-American bird watcher in the Central Park racial incident, expressed empathy for the white woman, who was fired by her employer. “It’s a little bit of a frenzy, and I am uncomfortable with that,” he told @SarahMaslinNir

Wow, dude's definitely showing her a lot more compassion than she has any right to accept.

I'm not glad this woman got fired—I wouldn't wish that on anyone in this economy—but the Universe is fair and she got what was coming to her.
If the universe were truly fair, this would have never happened in the first place.

Apropos of nothing...absolutely nothing...

But Mr. Cooper is 57 years old...
Don't mind me, just shopping for engagement rings for no reason whatsoever. No reason at all.
Suddenly this becomes a thirst thread.
Can you blame anyone? Karen's getting the beginning of her comeuppance and the dude's the total package; relief at his surviving the altercation unscathed has given way to... other things.

You don't get that high up without having good connections. Someone in her network will probably hire her in some lowkey capacity.
I said it before In this thread but I worked IT for a financial Advisor group and all of them were just elitist, disconnected from The real world, arrogant jerks with zero empathy for anyone.

Such a wide range of emotions with this thread. From being infuriated over the fact that this pond scum of a woman tried to get an innocent man killed, to the relief that the company actually fired her swiftly AND she lost her dog in the process.

Now? Now I'm over here thirsting over a 57 year old zaddy bird watcher. The cost of living in New York has been declining recently, right?

Next time a white person says they don't understand systemic and institutional racism show them this. They most definitely do. Otherwise calls like this wouldn't happen. I don't feel sorry for her at all.

She would've gotten away with it, if it weren't for that meddling video and choking that stupid dog too!

She nuked her LinkedIn account. I can imagine people were deleting her when this happened.

Who'd want an endorsement from her on LinkedIn?
Funny thing is, some of them probably don't even think what she did was bad. Some racists are fine with racism, so long as you don't openly stink of it. That's more of what this reaction is about, to be sure.

Same.

I'm already a bird. Maybe he'll come watch me.

I gotta say there was some pretty swift justice served here. I'm glad the dog was surrendered, seeing her basically choke it by hanging from the collar in the video rather upset me. Also good that her company completely called it out as racist actions and did swift moderation by termination her position. If anything now she'll be met with false accusation charges because of her 911 call. Excellent move on the dude for staying still, calm, and saying the words "please do not approach me" on camera. If this ever goes to court it will be a rather airtight case.

Oh yeah most of them are doing it out of self preservation because her name is toxic now.

I'm hoping this will make people think twice before trying to pull this stunt again. I'm probably expecting too much.

Serves her right. Dumbass bitches still haven't learned to wise up and act right as soon as someone whips a camera out. Best believe she feels more sorry about about getting her spot blown up than she would have if she got this guy killed.

So wait, I'm just getting caught up on everything since the first couple hours after it broke yesterday.

This dude was just trying to watch birds and had to deal with this racist asshole? wtf. Like you can't even fuckin' LOOK AT BIRDS without having some God damned Karen come along and just shit up your day because of your skin color? Jesus. Yeah, good riddance to bad rubbish. Glad she lost her job. (I'd be even gladder if she wasn't a racist bastard and this never happened, but that ship has sailed.)

So I just saw someone on Facebook saying that the person who discovered that Amy donated to Obama actually searched the wrong Amy, has anyone else seen any update/verification on that? Smfh

All she had to do was clip the leash on the dog. That was it.
It wasn't about that, see. It was about power. He challenged hers and goddamn if she was going to appease him, even if it meant killing him or her dog. Leashing it would have prevented it from struggling and choking, which was happening because she was holding its collar high enough that its front paws were off the ground. It would have been 1000 times easier to hold the if she'd leashed it. But it wasn't about the dog or her being afraid or whatever bullshit she pulls out her ass. It was 100% about power.

even in this thread, some people are more concerned about the dog.
I feel like as a former dog owner whom lost my dog to cancer, I view dogs as innocent creatures just full of love and happiness and spending their whole lives just thinking about how to make their owners happy.

It's probably totally wrong if you scale it, but no matter who is involved, my sympathy tends to favor dogs more so than they favor people. An exception would probably be small children, but I lose my shit anytime I see a dog abused. Maybe it's because I only had dogs and never kids of my own. But you can check my history and see racial injustice pisses me off as well. I guess what I'm saying is, I can't judge a person that gets more angry about the dog abuse in situations like this. It's not excusing the racism at all. I came into this thread not even knowing about the dog abuse but knowing yet again a Black person had the cops called on them just for "being". The Eric Garner situation still fucks me up, especially as somebody that has asthma and often times has a hard time breathing.

Absolutely.
From slave masters to the Ku Klux Klan to presidents to Supreme Court justices, the power of white men has always been ubiquitous, and so the abuse of their power was easily seen. But white women and their fears represent a less public terror – their gender obscuring the lethality of their tactics. Lying is a minor concern as long as the social order between races is maintained.

Identifying as the victim allows the women in these scenarios to maintain both innocence and ignorance. Luckily, modern technology has revealed the insidiousness of this form of racism as well as the perpetrators’ consistent failure to grasp the severity of their behavior. With the assistance of camera phones, the public is forced to have a discussion about this perilous kind of supervision and what can be done about it.

She sounds well practiced in faking hysteria while on call with the police. Maybe it's not the first time she falsely accused black men of assault. Fucking psycho.

I don't think one can overstate the severity of the situation she created. She tried to get a man murdered because she doesn't like to be told the rules by a black man. No sympathy at all. Good luck rebuilding your life..... :P

Truth.

You can't even have a mild disagreement as a bird watcher vs dog owner in a park without it escalating to threats to call the police, specifically informing them of your skin colour because you both know doing so will provoke a potentially fatal response; threats which are then carried out in combination with overt playacting right in front of you, while you openly capture the whole thing on video.

"Don't tell me what to do. You are nothing. I could have you killed with one phonecall. I just have to cry and tell them you're black. In fact that's what I'm going to do. I don't even care that you're filming me as I do it."

Absolutely. Fucking. Despicable.

He's on Don Lemon right now. Compassionate, cool as a cucumber and level headed. Explained that he was filming because people won't put their dogs on leads and some community members document it when people refuse to do it when asked, so that clears all that shit up.

welcome, nowhere
I heard about this earlier. I am not surprised by any of the events. I'm glad she's fired.

I really do think that the US needs to have some kind of course about communicating with people who do not look like you, especially given that she probably went to a school where there weren't many PoC.

Never been a DBZ fan, but this is great.

Hmmm ... a white woman SEES she's being filmed and still threatens to get him beat the fuck up by cops by calling 911 falsely as she strangles her poor dog.

This is like the prefect example of white privilege.

Mine comes with citizenship to another country, where he can live whenever he likes, reducing his risk of someone trying to assassinate him by 911 calls. I win. LOL

But in all seriousness, I hope this man has or gets a mate, he deserves quite literally everything he could ever want.

I am not super familiar with US criminal law and jurisdiction but wouldn’t a bright prosecutor be able to at least drag her in front of a judge for false accusation notwithstanding attempted unlawful detention/duress/battery/manslaughter/murder?
