I don't think they use him much in the west, but at least officially, that's their mascot. Because of his low key presence in English marketing material, I do legit keep forgetting this detail.

If we go back to the PS1 era however a lot of people would probably say Crash, but he was just a carryover from the 16-bit generation, so it was actually Parappa the Rapper.

It's not an opinion, he is their mascot. He's not huge worldwide for some reason, it's mostly a Japan thing, but yes it's Toro.

I dont think playstation has one mascot, they have many mascots (sackboy, Drake, Ratchet, Helghast etc etc ) but if i have to pick one then it would be Kratos without a doubt.

Like Nintendo, they are legion: they don't have one; they have many. That speaks to the true the strength of the brand. There are several recognizable franchise protagonists that you could name and they not be an incorrect answer.

MS still needs a few more franchises to mature to reach that level. Right now, just feels like Marcus Fenix and Master Chief. They've had a number of games that had the potential to become tentpoles (Perfect Dark, Kameo, Crimson Skies, etc.) but they let all of them die on the vine.

Sony doesn't have a clear mascot. Sackboy or Ratchet & Clank came closest. Now that Insomniac is Sony owned they should fully revive the R&C series, release a couple great new games and make R&C the Sony mascots. I mean they are really likable and cute:
