What's the difference between mascot and icon in this context?
Icons come and go, but mascot stay ?

Like Tim Duncan was the icon for Spurs but the coyote is always the mascot.

Joke aside I think icons have more influence and represent the brand while mascot doesn't always do the same.

Like many mentioned in the thread Toro is the mascot not an icon for playstation, for example.

With you saying icons represent the brand, to me in this context that basically means mascot and icon. A character that represents the PlayStation brand. Perhaps we could break it down and come up with a difference but in this context the two aren't mutually exclusive
