As iconic as Tenchu is, Rikimaru and Ayane are just not as well known as the other Ninjas I put in the poll - trust me, I would have included them if I had more than 5 choices.But Tenchu is the quintessential ninja game series, OP. I would pick rikimaru from tenchu series, but since he is not on the poll I picked strider hiryu, the reason is he's so fkin cool.

Gray Fox might have the "coolness factor" happening, and Strider was the star of one of the best Genesis games, but come on. It's pretty obvious who the Ninja of video games is. Joe would be my second choice (since Kage from VF isn't listed). Revenge of Shinobi was easily one of the greatest 16-bit games of all time, and what was even more impressive was that it was one of the earlier releases. The original one, that had Spider-Man, The Hulk and Terminator in it. Plus Shinobi (Arcade and Genesis) and Shadowdancer.

He's my second choice. Ryu has just been around the longest, and been in the best games from NES to Arcade to modern consoles.

Such underrated games nowadays. Aside from some annoying trial-and-error jumping parts, they hold up well. There's nothing quite like them.
