Lol. I remember when I listened to the Handsome Rambler podcast and he was talking about this like 2 years ago. As far as rich folks buying property goes he sounded pretty chill about it. Let the people live there rent free for for a few months before he converted their units into Airbnbs.

I haven't been keeping up. Are the Bernie Bros mad?

If he has rentals, he can kick anyone out of his property if he chooses. I don't see the issue...

Lemme do the math here, so like if 70% of millenials would vote for a socialist, and 30% would vote for a communist, then that's like 100%!!! time to start the revolution with slumlord Hannibal

not agreeing or disagreeing but something being legal doesn't make it bad or good. legality is not morality.

Ok I'll play along. What's morally wrong with what he did? Do you believe that a homeowner that rents out his home is morally obligated to do so in perpetuity? What if he needs to sell the house? What then?

Renting out your property is basically just slavery with extra steps.

Kicking people out (don't care if the lease was up) just so you can make more money is bullshit and it's contributing to the housing crisis. Fuck landlords.

Can we cancel threads based on random stupid Twitter threads instead?
Please. I really hate when threads are literally started with just twitter posts. Lazy and more often than not false information.

Please lock this terrible fucking thread. "Slumlord" the fuck outta here.

You own the property, you can do what you want with it. It's not like he raised the rent 200% and evicted them. He gave them two months free rent while they sort their shit out. Two months rent is typical for a deposit while renting so I have to assume that was his motivating factor.

People with money have awful politics. Nothing new.

All your faves are doing horrible things with their money.

play along by reading my post again i specifically wrote the first few words because i didn't want to get into an argument about the morality of what he did. laws aren't morality so in an argument about morality, saying something was legal means nothing.

Please elucidate as to why it shouldn't be legal for people to do what they please with the properties they own.
It's caused major housing shortages and abuses by landlords against current tenets in order to force them out to transition to more profitable short-term AirBnB renting and because the law literally exists to place limits on behavior including how properties are rented? Did that answer your question?

Ok cool, so you're just playing devil's advocate for the fuck of it and don't have anything to contribute. BTW, I never said it was good or bad. It just...is.

Can't speak for the person you are responding to, but I was thinking the issue was turning it into an AirBnB in particular.

You're trying to hard, the person you quoted was literally only pointing out that the legality of the action isn't what was being litigated.
