Why the hell do people where I live think Angela Merkel is a Nazi?

I don't think even in the right-wing fever swamps have I heard the accusation that Merkel is a secret Nazi. Usually the right-wing line is that she's one of the dreaded globalists. This just sounds like someone using Nazi as a generic slur against Germans they don't like.
Yeah, it's not so hard to unlock:
1. Play game on the internet
2. Make it known you are german
3. Own the "right" guy

I think it's the same they know that if you focus on reforming criminals instead of punishing them as much as possible they'll just become criminals again, like how if you take away the guns the bad guys with guns will take over, and if you give an inch on free speech you become a police state.
I've heard the Fourth Reich thing a couple of times over here in Europe. It's usually from people who don't really know a lot about the European Union, how the EU works, what the EU does but are somehow convinced that the EU is just Germany's long-con masterplan to overthrow the continent.
The CDU are a centre-right party as far as I know but they probably seem like a bunch of loony lefties to certain American conservatives.
The Nazi thing is probably being thrown around by ignorant people because they've heard how powerful Germany is becoming and Merkel being so prominent makes for an easy target. It's sad how often 'Nazi' is thrown about when it comes to Germany and its people, you hear it all the time from morons here in the UK.

As a German, I can't tell you how often you get called Nazi once they find out you are German. It's like "Germans = Nazi trololol". Such an original thought. So yeah, Merkel being the head of Germany makes her obviously a Nazi. Coupled with the "Europe is Germany's bitch"-agenda that gets thrown around, and you can easily see where the rhetoric comes from.
