Along with the relative ease of porting newer games, I think ports of Wii U games are an excellent idea because so many are too good to be left behind on that unbelievably ill-conceived hardware.

Why Wii U ports when Wii and Gamecube games need HD Remasters?

Wiiu games still look and behave like new games. No need to do much in a port.
Wii games would need a lot more work. I'd rather have the entire Wii u library virtually untouched than uprezzed Wii games.

Not personally. I know a lot of people have fond feelings for it, but I tried playing the original again a couple of years ago (on Wii) and I really don't think it has aged well. I don't have a ton of nostalgia for it, though.
Honestly, I could see a Wind Waker and Twilight Princess double pack on Switch as an easy way to sate Zelda fans next year, maybe in summertime.
