She has some major fabric forming boobs going on, but other than that I think she has an overall solid design.

If a male character had the same outfit:

Why do they all have big breasts? So far my most recent favorite ones have been MK 11 Skarlet, Jade and Cassie. Lucia and Karin from SFV is pretty good too.

That's actually not that bad on a male character.
Ehhhhhhh, I can't endorse this line of thinking. It reminds me of those school dress code cases where two girls were wearing the same outfit but only one girl gets punished due to her body making it "lewder".

EDIT: If you weren't saying that it's not that bad on a male character as opposed to a female character, then disregard.

I would totally wear something like that for a dance presentation.

But yeah, the way she moves and with that outfit shows their clear intent.
I've always found her more creepy than anything, but do you not see Zafina as akin to a dancer or contortionist given her moveset?

The weird roll that she did on that trailer gives a contortionist vibe.

I see a lot of feminist-minded queer people I follow on Twitter playing Code Vein, some even recommending it. *sigh* Aside from the titties, I get the appeal of edgy Anime Souls but it doesn't have to be this way. *shakes head* Speaking of games with unnecessary sexualization, my GF is playing Blue Reflection and just watching her play for a little bit has me creeped out. I'd say at this point that it's undeniable that there are lolicons at Gust.

What will it take for me to get more gothic horror anime games without gross fanservice?

Remember seeing Blue Reflection and thinking it would be the closest thing to a Sailor Moon RPG since the SNES days...and then I remembered what Modern Anime is like.

Writers/developers who have some concept of maturity?

I don't know. Maybe a Soulslike otome game. 😂

Sailor Moon (anime at least) is kind of at fault for setting a precedent for the sexualizing of magical girls. :|

I love Blue Reflection, it is one of my favorite games even. It's really not perfect and there's a lot they could make better in a sequel but there's so much about it that's good too.

I feel ya like I'm at the intro of the game and it's night and day how different the male outfits and characters are compared to female characters. I'm like someday I hope I can find a pair of pants for Io at the home base. Devs had the option of decent clothes and instead, they went all to way to the creepy factor.

another odd fact that the hot springs are for both genders lol

It's a difficult needle to thread, because 'coming of age' narratives were baked into the genre conventions almost right from the word go, and that sort of thing quickly goes from trying to form a relatable grounding for kids discovering how they will change as they approach adulthood into creeper territory that is no longer accessible to / acceptable for that audience. It's almost a weird corollary to the "Big Mouth is awful, but any attempt to make it better would actually make it grosser" rule.

Eh, fanservice in magical girls have been a thing since Majokko Meg-Chan in 1974. While Sailor Moon and other 90's magical girl anime also went into ideas of fanservice, those are based on those early 70's shows. I'd say the start of the modern oversexualization of the genre is Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, which is the first Magical Girl Anime to be made exclusively for the male demographic rather than being more girl-oriented or general audience. Because, you know, we need to make sure every genre serves exclusively to that very very underrepresented 19-36 year old men. /s

Just chiming in to say that Insomniac dropping the female characters in various Ratchet and Clank games was a major disappointment to me. Talwyn from the first 2 R&C games on the PS3 for example being replaced with Quark disappointed me as I wasn't too much of a Quark fan myself. He has his moments yeah, but...nah I liked having Talwyn around a lot more than Quark as a partner.

Oh no I think Capcom made a mistake, They gave Laura an outfit where she's fully dressed! Even more surprising is they allowed Cammy to keep her pants on.

I feel like you can still enjoy some media while still being critical of the more questionable aspects of a work. though for me personally, i'm a massive perfectionist and the moment i find a yikes moment, I either pretend it does not exist or just drop it off entirely. I have a more stronger will than others but even I draw the line on some things.

This is just my guess, I'm not part of the LGBT community, but could it have anything to do with the character creator?

Code Vein's character creator is very robust and is the one thing universally praised about the game (though there are still aspects of the creator that could use improvement, namely the lack of face and body sliders).

It really stings what they did with that, it had such a nice artstyle and I was so excited by the idea of a modern magical girl rpg.
To me it felt like they ran out of time or budget with the project at some point given the limited areas and amount of zone repetition, gave up on their ambitions and instead filled it with creepservice to cash in on a certain audience who would happily overlook the many flaws. Some of the scenes were completely disgusting (those rain day "moments" especially) considering the age of the characters and felt really jarring against the general tone of innocence.

Yeah, the story had ambition of being something more, but...

"Here's a low key story about the relationships between young girls" Okay, great! Thanks! I really want something like that.
"Here's the main character stretching in her underwear." What? No.
"Here's her shirt, see through in the rain." I don't want tha—
"Here are girls groping each other in the shower!" PLEASE stop
"How about some closeups of their glistening wet asses as they swim?? Note our attention to detail on both the asses and the glisten"

And THEN you notice the DLC, which is straight up porn outfits.

Incredibly disappointing. Indescribably gross.

Agreed C:V does have an odd CC like how it limits face types but you have 100+ slightly different eyebrows. I admit I ended up watching the cutscenes on YT since there's a lot of wandering around swamps for new areas and I just don't.

I liked the game quite a bit but yeah, environmental variety is does not have. In fact it shares the same issue with God Eater the other game series they made where environments can be boiled down to basically 2 things.

1. A level through a city ruin
2. A level through an industrial ruin

Yeah...and I felt bad for just ambushing the mobs who were just sitting around or walking with their friends.

Gaming channel I'm following plays AI: Somnium Files right now. And while I do find the story pretty captivating, boy does it have some problems.
Not surprising regarding the previous games. You can argue how good the juvenile and sexual innuendo jokes are, the huge breast receptionist and whatever. Maybe so bad it's actually good material. (While I prefer to roll my eyes really hard.)
But what really irritates me is the design of Boss. Threw me of the very first moment. You meet outside, it's raining, everyone is more than fully clothed, it seems to be cold enough for Boss herself to wear gloves (she's wearing all the time btw).

AI-The-Somnium-Files_2019_05-15-19_007.jpg

And still, whatever the weather or even her position and job, she wears a very short skirt and half her breasts exposed.
There is no way a woman can not be dressed at least half sexy. Like the old not allowed to wear pants rule.

I finished AI two weeks ago and yes, there is a lot of sexualized comments/actions in the game I did not care for. Really did not care for how the receptionist was portrayed as a dumb blond and all the comments Date makes about her chest. At least Lotus and Alice from the Zero Escape games (and Mama in AI for different comments) had the ability to respond to the player characters when they made inappropriate comments while also having personalities.

Also several of the QTE sections involving
men getting distracted by porno mags and women's underwear
got old real quick.

I think you just described most modern JRPGs (outside of the big hitters) there :/

I think there's a lot that can be said about the skin tight plugsuit that D.va wears in gremlin form, but i'm don't really feel there's anything particularly sexualized about the way she lies horizontal in the mech. Is that image supposed to be representing something else, or just D.va? I really liked Mech D.va.

Overwatch has the benefit of not having any shots fully showing her posture inside of the robot, but that "girl in mech suit" pose is distressingly prevalent in other things. Even Promare couldn't resist including it, and that was for something that was extremely reined in compared to its director's usual tendencies.

What is she even piloting there...

Darling in the Franxx require two pilots for each mech. The one in the front is the "soul" of the mech or something while the person back is the actual pilot. The soul pilot actually feels the pain of the mech so it's an excuse to have the female pilots make suggestive noises during battle.

Either sex can be either position but naturally of the main cast, all the women are in front while guys in back. There are other pilots that swap roles but they are villains or minor characters. I think there is one time where a main character and a sorta important villain/support character do male-male piloting.

Man it got even worse than just the picture.

I was watching a person playing a newly released game which everyone kept calling anime darkest dungeon. Of course it ended up being all loli girls in minimal clothing. The healer moans and heals everyone around her.

I think everyone tries to compete to how they can be the absolute worst.
