What an horrifying thought. Being so absorbed into fictional trash to the point of forgetting what a real human being looks like...

It doesn't stop at fiction. I know people that post photoshopped cosplay abominations thinking what they see is real. It takes just a cursory glance for me to point to a whole array of inconsistencies with these bodies, but they just don't see it. One time I pointed it out, and they asked me: 'You think we're so stupid we don't know what a real woman looks like?' I told them, yes, I do.

Haha it's funny but it has to be true. I've always been a fan of "sexy" designs, as has my gf, but it feels like every stylized interpretation has to go off the rails.

Twitter is currently going crazy over Barret

Looks like Square accidentally hit onto a Hot Ryu design for him.

"Accidentally." All according to Keikaku.

They did about as good of a job with Tifa's redesign as anyone could realistically hope for (from Japanese devs that are not From Software). They were never going to abandon her OG design of white top & black short-ish shorts/skirt altogether nor completely do away with big breasts but this design I feel is fairly decent modern more grounded/realistic interpretation of the original Tifa. Could've maybe used a bit more muscle but otherwise I'm fairly happy.

EDIT: I also like that after yesterday's somewhat questionable "Somebody save me!" line from Aerith that raised fears that they'd do a more delicate Aerith, this trailer showed a more confident one when Cloud says she should go ahead while he and Tifa take care of enemies and she's all "K" without being all "but I can't go on alone" or anything. So I hope that the shadow scene is just her being overwhelmed by some Lifestream corruption that she senses for some reason or something and otherwise they generally keep her pretty similar to OG Aerith.

Yep. Still has a large chest but is now wearing a sports bra (how could she not).
She is wearing a skort to keep the original look but not have her constantly flashing the world. Also think the thigh highs are a nice touch. I think they did a good job.

I wouldn't say by accident until they say something about it ...
They know how to do hot dudes that pleases both women and gay and bi men (hell the all cast of FF15 is proof of that )
Barret being "bearified" was kind of inevitable ...
I mean given the ton of rule 34 artworks and short porn fan made comics that were made of him all these years of course they jumped on the occasion ...

Really happy with the new Tifa design. That's about the best SE could have done to strike a balance and appeal to both sides in my opinion. The ones still complaining are just being unreasonable. I'm so happy SE resisted the urge to go in that direction.

Final Fantasy War of the Visions on the other hand...that went all out in the wrong way. That was really depressing to see.

This game looks really charming.

Especially given that the game director on this puppy is a big Takarazuka nerd , so it's cool artstyle mixed with some sprinkles of Takaruzka references here and there .
A demo of the game has been showcased during a dev conference in europe and the director was straight up wearing a Princess Knight T-shirt .
My friend asked about it and the director admitted being big in Takarazuka type stories .

This one really calls attention to just how skinny she is. I really am bothered by their fear of have any weight at all on women, be it muscle or not.

I really wish Tifa was bulked up a bit, but I'm also kind of surprised we even got the abs, so I'll take it?

22-ish years of fanart has really done a number on the fans, though. Her main designs have literally never had cleavage to "censor", my dudes.

(Long time lurker, hi everyone).

I like Tifa's redesign too but I think she could be a bit more muscular too. For a fighter character Square (and some other developers to be honest) could get some inspiration from the Street Fighter muscle handbook. The book explains how to draw muscles to maximize expressiveness and muscle definition, even for smaller characters. Everyone thinks about Chun-li or Cammy when told muscles + women + Street Fighter, but a lot of the in game models just have cool, moderate muscle definition. Take Menat (alt costume to see the standing leg) :

Or Karin (her tights helps getting what could be done with Tifa):

But anyway, I'm glad they found a good balance between practicality and the keeping the iconic costume.

I'm sure some of you remember people complaining that Crash Team Racing dropped the trophy girls from the remake. Turns out they're still in, except now they're known as Nitro Squad and are unlockable racers instead of characters just standing around during a victory celebration

In addition to Tawna, players will be re-introduced to Ami, Isabella, Megumi, and Liz. Together, they are now known as the Nitro Squad (formerly known as the Trophy Girls in the original CTR), and are now characters that you can race with! They can be unlocked using Wumpa Coins in the Pit Stop during the first Grand Prix. These global bandicoots hail from all over the world, and are ready to compete! There will also be new Motorsport skins for them as well, to really show off their speed and style.

And their designs are much better. They're also a much needed boost to the female character count of the game which was previously at a grand total of 1.

Sweet! Funny thing that was one of the old "trophy girls" goals. In the epilogue one of them decides to get on the race track. And yeah, this is far better use of these characters than just "trophy girls".

I think the main issue is just the style for final fantasy. Even many of the guys tend to be on the slim side with only a hand full on the larger side. I guess you could say they use a default anime look. Where most characters except for some extremes are basically models, yet still manage to be crazy strong.

I really hate this fucking site.

Yep, as soon as someone not a white dude speaks up, the worms crawl out of the woodwork. At least since they don't read this thread I can demean them however I like here with impunity.

I missed this because I don't usually follow any Sony announcements but thankfully it looks like it's coming to PC, which is great because everything about it sounds awesome.
