Do you foresee the historical 2020 Presidential Election stealing some attention from the consoles? They'll launch right around the actual election (early November 2020). I don't think any recent console has released in an election year, but I could be wrong about that.

For me, yes. The results of this election have the potential to be absolutely catastrophic for the US, and that would leave a new gaming console as feeling very trivial indeed.

Will the election itself provide a material delay to the console launches? No, but if you feel insulated enough from the result of this election to still think about video games, consider yourself quite lucky.
