I mean, why not? As new movies come out, possibly with a different actor playing Bond, there might be some new contracts on the table. I would be surprised if we never saw another Bond game ever. Now, will it be a trash mobile tie-in or a triple-A product? That's the bigger question here.

James Bond is like EA Sports BIG titles, essential games of my childhood that are inexplicably gone.

EA and Activision ruined the series by releasing a bunch of lackluster entries, so probably not. At least not anytime soon. Some of the games were decent, but they tried their damned hardest to outdo Goldeneye, and almost none of them did.

Tomorrow Never Dies and Goldeneye: Rouge Agent in particular were just WTF. The World Is Not Enough on N64 and Nightfire were underrated though, and a lot of people seem to love Everything or Nothing (never played it myself), so I guess it wasn't all bad. I guess the Goldeneye remake was received decently enough as well.

Well, Bond works best as an action-adventure in the vein of Uncharted i.e. a largely linear, single-player adventure with a bunch of setpieces.

Which means that it's never going to the game it deserves in the current climate of GAAS. Hell, I half-expect Activision to make some sort of hero shooter with Bond & Bond villains since Goldeneye's multiplayer is a huge nostalgia generator.

Had Quantum of Solace on the PS3 but can't really remember much about it now though. Pretty sure I enjoyed it at the time.

Would definitely be interested if a new one was made.

I'm not sure what type of game would even be best for a bond game now, nothing has topped Goldeneye yet so I feel a change from FPS could be needed. It would be really nice if they could do a bond game in a similar style to Uncharted or like MGSV for how they played allowing third person cover style shooting, stealth and vehicles, but from a technical stand point a bond game would have some huge set pieces and city areas that I'm not sure would currently work. GTAV also offers a unique engine that could work very well for a spy game.
But the real issue even if the above is possible is would any studio pick up the licence and drop money on this given the past games flops? it would take some brass balls from someone to make the leap. right now it think Telltale is the most likely even if other types of games would fit a Bond game better

Fun fact OP, GoldenEye Wii still have Active players for the Online play, I created a Discord with a small community who plays it regularly this early year, A small playerbase still play GoldenEye Source 5.0 still today if any of you guys interested, feel free to PM me for any details for that! And yes i do very wish to see an upcoming bond game too!

There was potential with those James Bond games for PS3 which where based on the Call of Duty Engine. Too bad they never went further with it.

Correct answer is yes since the IP will hit public domain eventually. Ian Fleming died 53 years ago, so in seventeen years all his novels will be public domain in most countries

Who even has the IP rights now? Still Activision, or has that contract expired?

Pretty sure that contract expired.

I believe the contract has expired and as of now no one has the Bond gaming rights.

Even though the Bond IP has huge appeal and recognition, I doubt we'll get a game any time soon since we're past the era of license focused games. And despite the recognition Bond has it may be considered risky by a pub/dev to sink a couple of years and millions into a property that they don't even own, thus lowering the amount of control they have over it to exploit.

A Telltale Bond game could work in theory, but I would just hope that it has a visual overhaul.

The Pontchartrain Bridge was a good mission, Everything or Nothing will still be memorable for that one.

Ugh, the thought of a TellTale Bond game makes me cringe. Bond is all about fast paced action, with interesting characters and some humour. I don't think they're capable. I'd rather see MachineGames or Criterion take a swing at it.

Yeah same here. Like a Bond TT game would only work if it was inspired by the books and had a more scaled back character centric approach. But even then I shudder to think how the game would look visually since I personally abhor the style TT uses.

A MachineGames Bond game would certainly be great, as would one made by Supermassive Games (Until Dawn).

After The Order 1886, considering that Activision no longer seem to have the game rights and that Sony Pictures work with MGM to make the Bond films, it would have been ideal for Sony to have Ready at Dawn work on a James Bond game. It would have mirrored Insomniac working on Spider-Man.

The RAD game engine leveraged against making a James Bond game would have been awesome. Sequences where you're walking through a beautifully realized casino, or section of London, before action kicks off. Amazing cinematic production values. The chance for Ready at Dawn to make a game closer to the ambition of Uncharted, and fill that void.

Alas it wasn't to be.

I think it's dead as a console/PC series. The "crappy movie tie-in" games became mobile games instead.

Standalone titles though? I think they'll come back. Rocksteady or the Ubisoft devs that did Splinter Cell and Watch Dogs can do a good job.

I liked the GoldenEye game on Wii a lot, but for some reason I couldn't get into it again when it came to HD consoles. It made that next game a real bummer as well.

Well, I would not support games like these today. Perhaps in Goldeneye was cool, and become a reference in multiplayer shooter, but, all of these games witch follow movie scripts are already dead, or just for newcommers. Lego games are something like dat, with lego structure (with makes better in game structure).

dinkt know, my opinion about it

Now there's a thought actually. The more controlled nature of a 'cinematic' game could fit the Bond style, and hell, do it right and it could end up seen as a better Bond film than an actual Bond film. Those are often affected by their need to truncate a lot of the storytelling, particularly where adapting one of the novels, where even a 'short' game in line with The Order 1886's five hours or so would be double the screentime afforded to any film.

Actually we do not know who has the movie rights for the next bond movie. Sony right expired with spectre and MGM is apparently still negotiating. I believe WB and Sony are the front runners.

It will probably return at some point, but I think the question should be, will it be good again?

A game that should return as well, Perfect Dark. How this game has been gone for so long is beyond me.

It would be so rad if a GoldenEye 2 was announced, and it had an amazing single player campaign and and an amazing multiplayer mode that was super customizable and had split screen and also the character still controlled like Mario Kart and everything was just the same but with cutting-edge graphical technology and you could choose if your Bond was Connery or Craig or the rest and physics engines and Oddjobs was still cheap. It would kill me if that game was announced. It would be so much crazier than a Half-Life 3 announcement.

I want to play Blood Stone and I actually have a copy but the stupid security camera bug (US copy of the game -> Asian console) prevented me from playing it.

I thought Legends was slightly underrated. Sure, it wasn't amazing but, overall, I thought it was fun. I think we'll see another one at some point. I still want to play Blood Stone.

As weird as this sounds I'd love a Rockstar developed James Bond. Open ended game with maybe a hub system instead of open world (allowing you to go to different countries), with physics-oriented combat borrowing elements from GTA and Max Payne and some of the mission structure from GTA5.
