In Smash Bros Brawl, we saw the big 3 Zelda characters using their designs from Twilight Princess, the last big Zelda game to have come out.
The game even went so far as to give Sheik an unpated design based on concept art from Twilight Princess. It was all well and good.
Fast-forward to Smash 4, and the big 3 are still in their Twilight Princess designs, albeit with some general changes to make them fit the brighter artstyle of the games.
This is of course despite the fact that the last big console Zelda game before Smash 4 was not Twilight Princess (or even Twilight Princess HD), it was Skyward Sword.
Many speculated that the reason for this was because Skyward Sword did not directly feature Ganondorf, and instead of having Link and Zelda use their SS designs and Ganondorf use his TP one, Sakurai and the devs made them all TP for the sake of artistic cohesion.
Which brings me to the next Smash game.
The latest console Zelda is Breath of the Wild, which much like Skyward Sword, does not feature Ganondorf in it. Following the same logic as before, it would make sense to use the Twilight Princess designs a third time so Ganondorf doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.
But Breath of the Wild is stupidly popular, so it'd make sense to have the characters reflect the latest game in the series. So what do?
Do you think we'll see TP designs a third time? Will it be BOTW Link and Zelda but TP Ganondorf? Will they make up or use an unused BOTW design for him? Will they just say fuck it and go with Hyrule Warriors designs?
