Don't mind the lack of pixel art, but yeah, don't like the artstyle. Not gonna lie, I wish they had a Japanese art director, or at least someone who adhered more to the visual style of the original game.
We'll see how it animates, if it looks as busy and cheap as it does here, and most of all, how it plays and what it adds to the formula, but I'll keep my expectations firmly in check for now. The fact is, Windjammers 1 was an arcade game with the kind of budget you'd expect (though I'm sure it wasn't as costly as a Metal Slug or a King of Fighters), while WJ2 is an indie title, and the game will probably suffer in some way as a result. I wonder if they managed to get one or two people from the original team at Data East to get on board. I doubt it, but it would be cool and reassuring. Hopefully I'm just being a Negative Nancy and I'll be proven thoroughly wrong :).
