Damn, a Matt Reeves bank heist movie written by the Bridge of Spies writer could have been a really cool movie. Shame Disney decided to axe it.
suicide squad underperformed imo, the marketring really resonated and hit with people , it really could have made a billi if the movie itself was better
I given a lot of thought about this, Dumbo just didn't have the pop culture cache to warrant a live action movie. Going forward I bet you will see them be a lot more picky on which ones they do .
So i figured TLK would thin out and die by now. But does this mean it has legs? I thought it was a poorly reviewed borefest?
There's a reason Lady and the Tramp is on Disney+ and not going to theaters.I given a lot of thought about this, Dumbo just didn't have the pop culture cache to warrant a live action movie. Going forward I bet you will see them be a lot more picky on which ones they do .
I think the only "lesser" Disney IP that might be able to side step the issue is Hercules. Man the casting for the Muses could be some fire. There's a reason Lady and the Tramp is on Disney+ and not going to theaters.

Have Tim Burton is old hollywood, he had a few hits in a past so he can always find big budget work if he wants it. Dumbo was probably too far long for them to stop.I feel like we said that about Disney after they made Pete's Dragon and Alice 2, but then they went and made Dumbo...so I don't know. I'd rather them focus their efforts elsewhere and really don't understand how a big(ger) budget Tim Burton remake of a movie with a silent flying elephant gets green lit these days.

I haven't seen Dumbo, but I imagine it's extremely on-brand for Tim Burton. You kinda know what to expect with him. He's incapable of shooting anything else.I went to the theater to see Dumbo not some crappy circus drama. I understand they wanted to have some new nice modern messages to it. But by adding new dozen characters they sacrificed many classic scenes and took away Dumbo's spotlight himself.
Beetlejuice is a property with enough nostalgia that I can see it doing alright. You're absolutely right. He's set to do Beetlejuice 2 now, which will most likely bomb because it's a franchise stuck in the 80s/90s era of film. Kids aren't going to want to see a horror comedy that's not really funny and isn't scary at all...yet here we are.
It's really a relic of a pass, you don't see that much anymore. Josh Trank had a big hit but he fucked up with Fant4stic, 20 ago Chronicle would have set him up for life. You're absolutely right. Hollywood makes stupid decisions all the time. Not to always bring things back to deadpool, but that movie never even should have happened. And it ended up being crazy ROI for the budget. And then you have the lone Ranger movie with Depp in white face, which is like uhhh okay? Because to execs ANY known property even if forgotten for literally decades with absolutely zero media has more value than something new
As long as they don't get stupid with the budget, anything beyond 60 million is crazyBeetlejuice is a property with enough nostalgia that I can see it doing alright.
Well he fucked up be being a giant douchebag too, as the stories go.It's really a relic of a pass, you don't see that much anymore. Josh Trank had a big hit but he fucked up with Fant4stic, 20 ago Chronicle would have set him up for life.
If being a giant douchebag stopped you from getting work in Hollywood, Hollywood be a ghost town. Max Landis stayed getting workWell he fucked up be being a giant douchebag too, as the stories go.
True. Seems harder these days though with social media. Landis isn't getting any work these days when just a few years ago he was seen as a big up-and-coming player. If being a giant douchebag stopped you from getting work in Hollywood, Hollywood be a ghost town. Max Landis stayed getting work
Why didn't they wait until Sept?

I see because everyone will be down with the clown
Sept is the New Feb, but it looks like it is on track to be the new new Feb. Where low key movies can break out or blockbusters can run the table because they are by themselves

They float on faygo down thereAre you implying that an upstanding citizen like Pennywise is in any way affiliated with Juggalos?
But it's on the thread title.I don't really understand this sentiment. DC is just the publisher of the source material, they aren't a studio like Marvel Studios. And this isn't connected to any of the DCEU stuff or even the brand in any meaningful way. This is just another WB movie.
Part of me doubts that Burton will ever have to work with a budget that low for the rest of his career. As long as they don't get stupid with the budget, anything beyond 60 million is crazy

I was just watching Hercules last night on Freeform and man Beyonce seems like she would be perfect lead Muse. I'd also accept Jennifer Hudson or Janelle Monae.I think the only "lesser" Disney IP that might be able to side step the issue is Hercules. Man the casting for the Muses could be some fire.
Why not?
No joke, Jennifer Hudson was the first person I thought of. How about this Beyonce, jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monae, and Lizzo?I was just watching Hercules last night on Freeform and man Beyonce seems like she would be perfect lead Muse. I'd also accept Jennifer Hudson or Janelle Monae.
Throw in SZA and bam there go your muses! Lizzo would be amazing btw.Why not?

I was going to immediately dismiss that idea but that might be perfect?
