I wonder who Wolcen studio is working with for their server demand. As you can see here

None of the staff listed are networking specialists. So they are obviously working with a server management company or an outsourced networking team.

While network technology has gotten better over time, when server traffic exceeds the demand of what you can support, Not even with the latest in network technology can ignore the fact even if throwing more servers to meet the excessive demand can be a workaround, however you also need manpower to manage them. That seems the likely scenario here.

Unless the studio has brought more staff on board since then, still for what they accomplished visually and gameplay wise. It's pretty impressive. I still think they should have anticipated server issues leading up to the release and had a contingency in place for P2P as a stopgap until they could reasonably balance their server load.

How is everyone liking the game so far and is it easier to jump into compared to like path of exile? I've been craving a new game like this. Even rebought Diablo 3 on the switch. Also Is it on sale anywhere?

Got to lvl18 playing with 2 friends. Still not convinced I'll keep playing mage, willpower management is reeally frustrating.

I wanted to go the summoning route but so far...meh. But to be fair, I only have one of the summons but overall, they die all the time, don't appear to do great damage. The rest of the passive I can see are for regens or HP % but nothing more on dmg.

It just released to v1.0 yesterday. During Early Access period it had reduced pricing of $29.99, and increased by $10 for the full release.

Your best option is the 20% discount for being a Humble Choice subscriber, which prices the game at $31.99 which is shy $2 more than the EA price point.

Liking the game a lot and way, way easier to jump into than PoE (even though IMO it's a bit over blown how hard it is to get into PoE, it's less punishing than like D2).

Like the Act 2 boss in this game is harder than any other ARPGs act boss or even final bosses.

I think the game is easier to get into than PoE, both are fun though! Just started PoE this week too. Not sure if this is a fair comparison of the two but the way I see it:
PoE: Like Pathfinder aka Mathfinder, fun but you may have to crunch some numbers to get the optimal build, fuck ton of content.
Wolcen: 5e, also fun, seems more streamline, game has a solid foundation that it can build on.

The only issue with the A2 boss was the bombs overlapping with kitava's beam safety zone, but you can just cheese act bosses postA1 with the transformation invulnerability window (you can shuffle between forms without having your bar filled)

Beside the server issues, are there many bugs? Basically, does it feel well polished or is it still a work in progress? Debating if I should get it now or wait few months, maybe first sale.

Also, I don't find the Act bosses mechanically difficult, they are just very very clunky, they lack tells for some of their skills (a1final boss can easily shotgun you in the 2nd phase if you don't know it beforehand) and arenas are generally too cramped or have random obstacles in the path, dodging is unreliable in tight situations because you need to spec into phasing, and some ground effects are not signaled correctly: one of the bosses from a2 has an ice ground degen on a grey/white slab background, plus it has a white aura which makes it really difficult to see. I wager what most people have trouble with in the A2 final boss is the tentacle phase, because it is clearly a dodge roll check and the game never throws much in the way of challenging stuff in this regard.

Game is still pretty buggy, I've only played like 7hours or so and I've encountered quite a few bugs like non registering hurt boxes on a few enemy types, had to restart twice because the character menu wasn't letting me allocate stats, my stash got wiped (currently being fixed), had a quest bug in A2 (had to restart in order to reset the zone), got some sound bugs as well, but those sorted themselves out by changing zones.

From what I played so far offline it's definitely easier to get into than PoE. Which I find is a good thing. I love PoE and played many seasons already but it's hard to recommend to newcomers. When you start mapping and you realize your build isn't very good... ugh

Sure, you aren't going to run a hybrid build that can smack things with a sword and cast big fireballs, but hybrid builds are rarely supposed to look like that.
That's exactly how Grim Dawn kind of ruined these games for me. My end game build does exactly that. Strong pets, lots of lightning spells, lots of proc, and a 2-handed weapon while also having relatively fast attack speed. Good defence as well.

I agree with the sentiment of cutting the dev team some slack. Most, if not all, online games launch with these issues. They are a small team, we can play offline, and the game is fantastic. We need to exercise some patience and wait it out.

So the game isn't saving offline characters at all for me. They get deleted whenever I exit the game which is quite a bummer.

Fix for offline progress not saving :: Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem General Discussions

If you have any diacritics in your windows user name, game will not save. Easiest workaround is to move your windows saved games folder (go to c:\users\yourusername and right click on it, then pick location tab) to some new folder where the whole path does not have any diacritics.

I am getting some really weird performance issues at the moment. Dunno if it's the area I'm in or what. Using a GTX 1080, 16GB RAM, i7-7700k

According to the Compubase article, I won't be able to get 60FPS on max settings at 4K, huh?

To be honest I didn't even try running it higher than 1440p yet. I would consider my build very high end, 9900K and RTX 2080 user here.

Does anyone else have the game crash when exiting / quitting the game normally? It makes me concerned that my character isn't saving properly upon exiting the game.

At this point it's practically a genre staple for there to be connection issues on launch haha

Yeah. The game kind of alt-tab itself and freezes automatically when I quit. I thought it was because my monitor was in 4k and I play in 1440P because it doesn't run well at 4k.

Even outside of the server issues and the stash/character deletion problem the game seems a bit buggy and unpolished so far. Hitting flying enemies with ranged abilities is annoying as you can't really mouse over them efficiently so you fire projectiles around or in their path to kill them. I think it's some kind of hitbox detection with the mouse? When I examine a debuff on my character to see what it does the description often remains stuck on the screen forever until I quit the game. I leveled up and couldn't attribute the 10 stats point I got and had to quit and restart.

Fuck it I'm going to make an offline character and just play that. Haven't been able to get in on my online one for hours...

I hope my offline save makes it to where I don't have to play the story when I try to go online later after I beat the game.

I didn't know this game existed. I probably saw it on steam and just glossed over it. I saw Skillup's review and I was interested enough to give it a try. I'm really glad we have another pretty fun ARPG to fill the drought. It's not quite as polished as something like diablo, but it's issues aren't really hampering my enjoyment that much. Hopefully they can deal with the more major problems quickly. Nice game that will scratch the ARPG itch until diablo 4 or torchlight 3.

Been smashing my offline character the last few hours but now my game just crashed to desktop, no error or anything. Found 3 uniques so far, they've all been massive upgrades. Having a lot of fun with it for sure, just wish I could work out what is causing these crashes.

Hmm what does the game FPS show setting say? Im running a 8700k/2080ti and its been pretty solid 60fps.
As for crashing. Happened to me twice and my character seemed to keep everything.

I can't believe this hit over 95,000 concurrent users. I barely heard of the game until a few days ago. How did it blow up so fast?

Having seen melee and playing mostly ranged, I feel like the ranged abilities are aggressively underpowered in contrast to how the bosses are massive HP sponges. On top of having a bunch of adds that block ranged abilities.

Also I hope harder difficulties have more things to hit, a lot of these zones are weirdly barren.

You know there is an upside to Wolcen's success. I mean if the game had 95000 concurrent users, then how many people bought the game at release? I guess a substantial amount of people bought the game during the Early Access period as well and clearly the majority aren't all Kickstarter backers, in fact only just over 11,000 people backed the game.

It's just seems crazy they only asked for $225,000 to fund the Kickstarter campaign and only managed to raise $406,000, so it's safe to say a substantial of the games funding and budget came from purchasers during the early access period.

Still this brings me back to my point. Devs said they would like to expand this game with post release content. Apparently their plan is every 4 months a small content patch (new items, enemies, modifiers), and a new act every 8 months. Still I think it's important before new content is added to the game, the issues with the base game with the bugs and networking issues need to be addressed first before additions to the game are made.

People are hungry for a good ARPG that isn't POE.

they also launched at a good time.

the current poe league has wound down (2 months old already) and GGG is gearing up for next league.

Which is why virtually every poe streamer is playing it atm.

Though the question is, will they be playing it in 3-4 days time?

With the current end game offerings, I doubt it.

Okay getting crashes now when trying to cast spells. Anyone have this happen?
What sort of crash? Does it happen every time you cast a spell or is it completely random?

I've had one random crash where the game stopped responding with no error whatsoever and I've had a couple of crashes with the error "dxgi error device hung device driver stopped responding" but it's all completely random. I played for 3-4 hours last night with no crashes at all and then this morning I crashed after 10 minutes. I didn't have any crashes while playing the beta and I can play other games just fine so no idea what's causing it.

There is a delay when casting and the delay eventually just increases causing the game to be unresponsive. Change all setting to low to see if it was graphical but it still happens. No idea why. Happens when using Annihilation.

I only had a handful of crashes during my playthrough, and 3 of them were in the same area(forest area in act2), that place was a mess not sure why. So not sure, maybe it's one of your annihilation mods, the lastest you speced into?
