I'm not so naive as to think violence is never useful or even necessary to enact change, but I'm pretty confident that when it has it's always been organized to some degree. A single impulsive attack like this won't help anyone. It'll be seen as an isolated outburst and nothing will change.

I'm saying you are taught the difference between right and wrong as a child, and as an adult you should be able to translate those lessons to adult situations.

What she said was awful, but what he did was life threatening, and that's a HUGE difference. Also, him doing that just fed into her belief about black people. Imagine if he sat down with her and talked about why she feels that way, it would be a major long shot, but maybe he could have made her see things just a little bit different? Naivety maybe, but I do know body slamming her definitely didn't make her see the light.
