Welcome to the Battle for Azeroth edition of the World of Warcraft OT! Please forgive me if I don't update this post super frequently, as I currently have a few other WoW-related obligations. I'll try to make changes at least every major patch cycle.

In no particular order/grouping (more to come soon!):

WoW_Era Discord:
You need to reply to this in order to see this content.
  • Join the Discord if you like, usually some good banter going on throughout the day!
  • ResetEra players DO NOT have a specific centralized guild, server, or faction. However, the communities serve as a workable stand-in if you want to play with people from Era -- I have also just opened a new Discord channel for people looking to recruit or be recruited to guilds that might have Era members called #guild_recruitment
In-Game Community Codes (Quote to View):
** I personally only maintain the NA Horde community and the Discord. Jag maintains the NA Alliance community. Tmespe created the EU Communities. If there's any problems with those, please alert that user before contacting me. Thanks! **

Is there a ResetEra guild I can join?

  • NO. There is no dedicated ResetEra guild, and there likely never will be. WoW predates ResetEra alone by over a decade (not to mention other forums), so the community here is pretty well split between factions, servers, and regions with many entrenched in other social circles. Transfer fees alone are high on the list of discouraging factors, even if a single server and faction could be agreed upon. Another huge factor is the divergence in motivations - people who play only seasonally wouldn't necessarily mesh well with those that play long-term, for example. If you are looking to play/chat with people from Era, I recommend hitting up your appropriate community and joining the Discord server. The Discord has specific looking for group channels as well as a guild recruitment channel for those interested, you might need to take initiative and speak up!
Okay, but where do I find a guild then?
  • If you don't intend on raiding, finding a good guild might be hard. I would suggest looking on your realm forum first in that case (e.g. Area 52 realm forum: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/1180550/)
  • For those intending to raid/interested in raiding, there are a few places I would check before anything else:
1. https://www.wowprogress.com/ - look either on your server or not for guilds of the progression level you're interested in. Contact them or apply through whatever means they supply on their blurb.
2. https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/1011639/ - Main guild recruitment forum (NA - there's a EU equivalent as well.) Either make a post yourself, or search through guilds looking for people.
3. https://discord.gg/vN2sWsB -- WoW Recruitment Discord. Read the rules/pins to get proper roles and either search for guilds that might fit, or make a short message advertising yourself.
4. https://www.reddit.com/r/wowguilds/ -- Official WoW recruitment subreddit. Stuff is posted there all week, plus there's a nice spreadsheet of guilds looking for people in one of the top pins. Additionally, on /r/wow, there is a weekly guild recruitment post that goes up Saturdays which can be used to advertise yourself or look at ads for guilds.

Just an FYI, you can only have two media tagged pieces in a single post, so I did the Old Soldier and Sylvanas Warbringer one since they're the newest. Sorry Jaina :(

I'm glad we have a new thread with a more active OP. I do hope you get the links to the communities into the first post as well, since that was the primary impetus for getting the thread created.

I hope horde players follow through with their threats of faction swapping because they do not like being portrayed as the villains. Maybe the Alliance will stop getting steamrolled in every PvP battleground in the game!

Never forget that Dranosh and Bolvar stood side by side at the Wrathgate to face a great evil, proving that horde and alliance can come together in their love of killing things to kill things that really like to kill things. Hopefully we can get to that place again. And kill things together. Before killing each other again.

I'm really hoping Blizzard pulls something that isn't completely obvious with the story. Gonna be a rough next week since I have a work convention I have to be at mostly all week plus MHW on PC. Gonna be some good times :D

I need some help regarding this game, I know zero about it other than my mum loves it. She told me this was out next week but her pc is not working anymore, I'm thinking about sorting her out something good enough for it. But need help in doing so?

My ideas are
1. A good enough laptop so she can play in bed as she is partially disabled and has some bad days where has to stay in bed.

Found one with
15.6" ASUS FX503VD-DM080T, FHD, i5 7300HQ, 8GB DDR4, 1TB HDD, 2GB GTX 1050, Win10. £599

2. A new pc that I can build for her. Which parts are okay?

3. My 2nd pc that I use for my driving simulator which is not good enough for me if I'm honest but maybe good enough for her?( specs are i5 7400, gtx 970 as I will keep my 1070 out of it, 16GB ddr 4 3000mhz)

I am already minus in my bank account but am willing to sort something if I can find the cheapest option that will play this new update.

Ive read the minimum requirement on wow website but the specs are confusing as the Intel and amd cpus are not current as also the gpu.

Thanks for any and responses and sorry if I've invaded this thread with unrelated questions

Unless you're sold on the laptop idea (which isn't a bad idea of course) I'd say your old desktop is a much smarter buy). WoW is a game that CAN run on pretty low specs, but it can also be pretty effing demanding, the ram and 1050 give me pause in the other one, they're definitely good enough but the desktop would be more future proof. I would be surprised if the laptop didn't start to feel sluggish in the next expansion, where the desktop would be fine for at least 4 years of wow. Probably longer unless they do some crazy shit.

So is the i5 7400 okay? The reason I'm getting confused is the i5 760 and the and fx 8100 look very different price wise, I say that but I'm only able to find cpus with similar sounding names.

examples are amd fx 8350 = £71 and the i5 8400is £161 both on scan computers in England.

Ya should have posted in gaming, maybe a mod will move it. They moved the HS thread to gaming due to it being a new expansion, plus it covers making a thread there for launch. Looks great though.

I remember when BfA was 6 months away like it was yesterday, it's crazy to think it's nearly here. I'm definitely ready for it, I've been gagging for some WoW but there's just nothing for me to do.

is there a timeline on warcraft anyware?

Like, when did Arthas waltz into Lorderon throne room to kill his daddy for example? 10 years ago? less?

Apparently the gap between WC3 and WOW is like 20-25 years. And every expansion in WOW advances 1 year. So Likely 30+ years now. That's why Jaina looks much older.

I forget where I read that. Maybe wowpedia or something.

Also notable is that teldrasil wasn't born til after WC3.

It was a few years between WC3 and WoW.

You think you're so cool Sylvanas, but some people remember 2007.

WC3 to wow is like 5-10 years, definitely not 30.
