AND the anniversary event begins today and runs til January. That, 8.3, and the Shadowlands alpha/beta should all make the wait easier.

Yeah, it kinda seems that the anniversary was "extended" because 8.3 isn't coming this year which sucks and seems... unexpected. But they're trying. I'll give them that.

They could have just made us wait it out.

Not entirely sure what 8.3 will have for me as a casual player. 8.2 had brand new zones to mess around in, but 8.3 is just random assaults in two existing zones, right? Like, the stuff going on there isn't even always up? (I'm not sure on that one)

There is always something going on in those zones, and there's new reputations that tie into those activities. Working on those activities will let you take on the visions of N'Zoth, which will let you take on the greater visions set in Stormwind and Orgrimmar.

It's a... complicated system, but there's at least going to be stuff to do.

The only thing that interests me is Vulpera and I'm not going to level one of those until the squish so...

I want that legendary cloak more for the look than the effects, lol

but obviously the effects when I actually need it. I just like how it looks.

I can't wait for the 9.0 Legendary mog system. I have Thori'dal and I can't wait for my hunters to carry this around.

I know this is selfish/dumb but I still kind of think Shadowmourne should only be transmoggable for Death Knights. Paladins already got Ashbringer they don't need to be biting that DK style.

Did the Anniversary event and got the mount. Fun, but quick. Don't have to totally kill bosses, just do enough damage. If you wipe, you have to start the section over. 3 bosses per run. We had one wipe on Lich King with defile and another with Rag and his fire balls. Otherwise a faceroll. Used a custom group, LFG was like a 45 min wait.

EDIT: Don't do quest yet. There is a bug where you lose the mount when you log out. Blizz is aware.

I figured it may be tuned to be faceroll since they'd not want to keep people from getting this mount.

Did you post this on reddit? I saw a thread earlier saying they died to Defile and fireballs. My guild is planning to do this Thursday but looks like we'll need a backup plan too.

That fast eh? Well at least I can focus on other stuff after hopefully getting through it tonight or tomorrow.

We got classic AV too, people. That's the real main event as far as I'm concerned, assuming it's done well.

Mount looks great but I've outgrown dragon mounts over the years, or really, huge mounts in general.

Yeah, I'm with whoever said earlier that I feel disincentivized to level anything new right now with the revamp on the horizon. Desperately hope it comes out with a theoretical 8.3.5 in spring, or perhaps with an early 9.0 in late spring (wishful thinking, I know). Ion said 50-60% faster leveling or something, right? As in, the required time to get from 1-50 in the new system would be 50-60% faster than 1-120 in the current system? That's HUGE. Why would I level anything sooner?

Le sigh.

I'm looking forward to 8.3 for sure, but without a new zone, it's feeling a bit anemic compared to the incredible 7.3.

I am only going to finish leveling anything I took to 110 in Legion, any allied races or anything outside of that 110 bubble is getting put on hold until the new shit.

I wasn't playing for the Warlords --> Legion draught but 8.3 seems pretty sparse (hey just like Magnus mentioned) especially for such a long wait.. Ideally I'm hoping (foolishly?) for an 8.4 Coda a la Sunwell Plateau to hold us over.

But if not I guess a 3/6 month head start on new leveling would work. The only thing left for my main is Azshara Heroic (and ideally that's only another week or two). Maybe pvp when I feel like it or help guildies out. I have a paladin on the opposite faction that I at least want to do Legion with and the BfA campaign if intriguing enough (which sounds to be the case, Sylvanas aside). Everyone else (like 5 around 60-80) is more then likely going into Carbon Freeze until Shadowlands.

No, but it's probably common.

I would NOT do the mount quest yet though. There is a bug with items being lost when you log out. I lost my mount and pet already. Blizz knows and hopefully they can fix it.

ALSO, a trick with the AV pvp mount. You need to collect 200 tw badges in AV to get the special mount. HOWEVER if you open your anniversary package inside AV it has 200 badges which counts. Otherwise its a long farm. It will probably be patched too.

how do you lose a mount and pet? once you "use" them they go in the collection

This seems to have already been hotfixed, just tried it on one of my characters.

I wonder how leveling dungeon queues will work in 9.0, when virtually everything other than Shadowlands will exist in the same level band. There is some value to at least having an optional separation for quest purposes I guess.

Re: time till Shadowlands drops, I think we might be in for another long haul unfortunately. It would be nice if they dropped 9.0 earlier than they usually drop pre-expansion patches since the leveling changes/squish would be nice to have well before Shadowlands itself, but I think that's unlikely.

8.3 not having any new zones is fine with me since Mechagon and Nazjatar suck hot ass, especially without the ability to fly. At least Mechagon let me use a jetpack and tesla coils.

Anyone else play this at Blizzcon and come away less hyped than before you played it? Im not sure what i expected but they only had a small part of Bastion to play through. The quest design is still the same thing its been since around cataclysm it feels like and there wasnt a single quest that felt new and refreshing to me. Maybe im hoping too much but i assumed they would have had something new in regards to questing to show off in the demo since they used that instead of Torghast to display. Ugh its hard to be optimistic about current WoW nowadays.

P.S. This demo helped me realize that at this point im willing to play through anything this art team designs. Its absolutely beautiful. If only the quest design followed suit.

The demo was basically a "oh cool zone art" experience for me. The covenant ability wasn't all that interesting for shamans and only the smithing quest had a different mechanic.

God I can't wait for Shadowlands and hopefully a good expansion again.

BfA is just soooo bad and every patch has just been worse and worse.

Trying to finish leveling my Death Knight right now so I can work on unlocking the Alliance allied races and hooo boy it is a slog.

Then I switch to my main and look at doing chores in either Bluejatar or Brownagon and I just want to log out forever.

Well, to be fair the run of the mill quest content isn't really that important for a lot of folks. The thing that keeps people subscribed and playing after the launch month is engaging end-game content and solid class/spec design that keeps people invested enough in their characters to keep doing dungeons/raids/etc week after week. At this point it's way too early to to tell how that stuff is gonna shake out.

No MMO on the market has really found a way to make the standard leveling quest experience all that exciting either. FFXIV and ESO both still have you going out and collecting bear asses, so it's really just the connective tissue to make you go out and do something while you're exploring the world.

my least favorite quests are escorts and "3D traversal" so as long as there's none of that I can be satisfied.

I've never played an MMO with "good" questing. I like to engross myself in the story and then just power through when doing it again. The quicker the better. Just don't make us suffer.

Asheron's call had pretty cool questing in that every quest was an actual quest with a specific purpose. It's a very oldschool game so the main method of actual character advancement/levelig up is just grinding mobs for XP. It also had a random loot system closer to something like diablo than WoW, so quests were the main way of getting specific, static items, many of which had unique properties.
