I would still play games, but I wouldn't love the hobby as much as I do now and wouldn't play as much. Did some quick math and 70% of the games I played last year were rated M.

It would severely limit my options, yes. My PS4 library would be reduced to a handful of games worth playing.

And my Switch already gets enough action as it is lol.

I could handle it for a while. I'd still have Forza, Ori, Hollow Knight, Mario, BOTW, Disgaea, Horizon, Tetris, and Apex to play. Would I miss a lot? Yup. But there's a lot of really good games that don't need lots of gore and disturbing imagery to be part of the experience.

Yes and No
I play 3+ (Mario) up to 18+ (Yakuza) but when I could buy 16+ the amount of games gave me a big backlog, before that I have only Wii and DS with the right amount of game I could/wanted to play

Not especially, but it would take some definite hits (Resident Evil, some Platinum games, some SMT/Persona games, Mortal Kombat, etc.).

Nier, Persona/SMT and Danganronpa would be big losses but for the most part I'd be fine. My library is like 98% E-T rated games (helps that I'm not a fan of gore and realistic-styled games)

No because most of the games I play are J RPGs.

Though some of my all time favorites would be not allowed (Binding of Isaac, persona 4)

No. Even though a lot of games I play end up rated M, nothing in most of them that causes them to be M are necessary for the gameplay.

If the industry turned away from M rated games then I'd still be playing the same games because the games I play would be altered to have a T rating.

A world with no M games:

I looked through my GOTY picks from the last three years, 8/30 were rated M. More than I thought, so it would impact me, but it certainly wouldn't completely ruin gaming for me.

Depends what makes them M in the first place. If it's for the themes explored, then yeah definitely. Imagine being limited to watching teens and kids movies.. I'd probably stop watching movies altogether.

I'd still play games but it would suck to loose so much.

It would be the equivalent of the film industry not allowing R and NC-17 rated movies to be released.

The horror genre would be neutered and plenty of directors - from Scorsese to Lynch - wouldn't even make movies.

Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, The Evil within 1 & 2, Persona 5, Tales of Berseria, Nioh, Monster Hunter World, Resident Evil 2, Uncharted 4, Spider-Man, Valkyria Chronicles 4...

Like goddamn, I don't know how I could replace all that.

If we're talking about the german equivalent USK18 there are few games actually rated that high because we also have a USK16 rating. A lot of stuff mentioned here as M-rated, like Soulsborne, Persona, Uncharted, Battlefield, Platinum (sans Bayonetta) is a 16 and up here. So it would be very easy for me to just miss out on the rare USK18 stuff.

If were talking about the last two years I think it's only Resi2, RDR2 and God Of War.

No but it'd be boring eventually. I would definitely stop watching movies if I had to watch PG shit though

Gaming would probably never become my favorite hobby without M rated games, so yeah.

Though that's just imagining those games suddenly not existing. If Dark Souls could still exist as is just without the blood, I don't think that would ruin it for me. But if just a riposte animation of stabbing someone is enough for that rating, then yeah, I don't think Dark Souls would be the same without its satisfying animations.

It would certainly be a blow but not a critical one for me, only one game in my top 5 is rated M. Adult themes can be done in T rated games just fine, Majora's Mask tackles more mature themes than the vast majority of M rated games. I do have a desire for very violent games at times and those will be missed, as will the adult themes that can only be done in M+ games.

The biggest losses series-wise would be Resident Evil and Dragon Age for me.

This is another thing. Almost everything with realistic weapons or violence automatically gets an M rating from the ESRB while PEGI and USK ratings are more granular. Battlefield V is PEGI 16, Black Ops 4 is PEGI 18 - in the US they both get the same M-rating.

Ruined? No, but I'd probably be less interested in the hobby.

While it was a joke, considering the HUGE MAJORITY of R rated films are porn and horror movies .... yeah. Saying they are "immature and trying way too hard" is a pretty good description =P

What the hell are you talking about? The majority of R-rated movies are not porn or horror.

Wouldn't ruin things entirely, I play mostly E to T rated stuff. It would bum me out to miss out on stuff like Bayonetta, Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, etc. That would really suck.
