Poor guy. That relationship has never been the same.
I never saw him, on account of the US and Canada not having much overlap with music, which was really weird. We never once heard a Tragically Hip song on the radio unless you found some weird-ass college radio that'd play it. MuchMusic regulars are shit we never ever saw unless your parents had some bootleg satellite dish that'd get it. Lots to love up there in Canada.

Yeah, I was never a hip fan, but losing Gord was a huge hit to Canadian pop culture. In terms of the impact he had and the road he paved for a lot of musicians I love to this Day is probably countless. Knock on wood, but I honestly think Bret Hart is probably up there should anything happen to him.
It’s a shame. We have so much great stuff to offer, especially our music scene. But you never really made it till you had a big hit in the states. Which is rare.
