Trump has known him for a long time.

Probably very accurate. Florida based (where a lot of Donald's schemes and money laundering takes place) and connections to Russia. These dudes were all involved with Trump, his family, and his properties for years. And I'm pretty sure many of the GOP were in on the take.

Speaking of the dudes, these guys still haven't met bail yet at least as of yesterday:
