That's a subtweet if I've ever seen one.
yup. people shouldn't criticize employees but the people making the shots. stein was right to delete it and he had no fault because he didn't shut down 4 studios.I mean it was the right call to delete. Stein isn't the one pressing the layoff button
Yeaaah that lines up...
oof.
This isn't Phil. Altho he should resign I guess at this point.
He is a puppet now to the upper management
Chances of that game releasing are minimal if that's the case. MS clearly doesn't have time for these long dev cycle, low potential ROI games anymore now that they're just doubling down on being ATVI.
Really thought they could put together an "ecosystem" / dev pipeline that supported a wide range of games and experiences, seems like that's simply not the case anymore.
they probably _had_ at some point. not anymore, clearly. The way Grubb is talking about it (still watching Giantbomb) these studios don't have GP as a safety blanket, they make to make money.
Clowns. An incredibly talented studio and with high technical expertise and they couldn't even sell it to someone else like Embracer did, they just closed it. Gone.

yupi'd rather have everything go multiplatform and garner more retail sales than studio closures
Yup.i'd rather have everything go multiplatform and garner more retail sales than studio closures
Idk, you tell us
Absolutely. Anything but that.i'd rather have everything go multiplatform and garner more retail sales than studio closures
What's frustrating is that the visibility in how they "make money" when their games are launching straight into GP is basically zero. Which just adds to the uncertainty of the situation. The way Grubb is talking about it (still watching Giantbomb) these studios don't have GP as a safety blanket, they have to make money.
ABK won't get unwound, and Microsoft didn't strong arm their way into closing the deal... nor did Congress have anything to do with the deal being finished...What if the FTC wins and the ABK deal is unwound?
No one seems to talk about the fact that the deal isn't and never was approved in America and Microsoft strong-armed their way into it by greasing the pocket of greedy Members of Congress.
Lina Khan was cooking.
Honestly you're probably not wrong and that really sucks honestly. I love me some nice AA and smaller budget games and it sucks that they almost never seem to actually sell well enough to be profitable enough for more barring specific circumstances...Tbh gaming is just going to end up being
Free to play
Triple A
Indie

What does June show failing even mean? That no one likes anything they show? I don't understand how that helps anything or anyone working on said games.
Puppet or not, it's still him. This isn't Phil. Altho he should resign I guess at this point.

Just loaded up an old Prey save to reminisce.
At least the studios and developers will live on and be remembered in the art they made.
That's fair, I guess I was referring more to the games themselves not doing well, because I'd never wish that upon the developers, rather than the showcase itself.Oh my I desagree a lot with this attitude. Do nothing about the shit MS decissions bring us what? Layoffs and studio closures. So we do it again? "Let's be excited for June Showcase, new games""
Can we learn something from Helldivers 2 situation? I doubt. I really doubt. I Just saw some "Xbox fans" in a discord channel that are saiyng that Arkane Austin DESERVED to be closed, because Redfall brought disgrace for Xbox.
I would rather to Xbox have a terrible showcase now with record low engagement/views so they can see, "Ohh maybe we are doing something wrong", it's better that, to have a point of no return for the brand in the near future.
