Okay, now this is some exciting sounding stuff possibly here - https://wccftech.com/next-gen-xbox-console-may-feature-an-internal-physics-engine-rumor/. This is a recent patent for Microsoft to include a hardware processor to support physics engines in next generation Xbox it sounds like. Here is the actual patent link for those curious - https://patents.google.com/patent/US20190065641A1/en?oq=15870585. I definitely really love cool graphics, but things such as this with physics or AI stuff to impact gameplay possibilities REALLY excites me!

If something like this leads to better physics and AI and also takes the Grunt work away from the CPU, then I am all for it.

Yep. It’s an area that saw almost no improvement this gen. With the processing power new CPUs will give next gen, I hope to see a lot more depth with AI interactions and physics sandboxes.

Anyone have suggestions for a good monitor only used for console gaming? Thinking of upgrading to prepare for next gen or an Xbox One X since my current monitor is being plagued by dark spots. Preferably ~24" I guess, and hopefully sub $200 if that's possible.

I have a question for the thread people, do you have anybody who wants new conker or remake?

I think it is a good idea to play with a backward compatible conker but this game is really good.

I mean, they spent 2.5 billion for Minecraft, which was just one game. I don't think Microsoft will acquire a publisher, but it's not because they aren't going to spend money on gaming, it's because it wouldn't be worth it.
Minecraft isn't just a game and they already earned that money back. Just like Disney buying Star Wars or Fox. They pay huge amounts and they earn that money back in blink of an eye.

It’s just silly. I know MS is looking for talent, and that all they want, and all we want, is the best for Xbox, but people need to chill out. There’s no huge brain happening in the industry, and MS is not aiming to hold a monopoly on all video games.
I've been saying this since rumors started Microsoft is buying studios. People need to chill

Conker is a tough IP to gauge interest for. Neither the N64 game or the OG XB version sold particularly well, but it did become a cult hit. Not unlike Psychonauts, I suppose. From a purely financial standpoint there are other Rare IPs that would make more sense to bring back.

At the very least, they should remaster Live & Reloaded and add in the MP from CBFD. I personally think it would sell well on Xbox, W10 and Steam. And then they could see if it's worth investing in a proper sequel.

Now you have something in common with all the inhabitants of middle-earth.
I've waited to have enough quotation just for you <3 <3
Yup, i'm very excited

Yeah she deserve her own Story to tell
Kait as a human is almost irrelevant, she's the heir of Myrrah's throne(we can even see her in the trailer at 0:13 ), because the locust's one is a matriarcal society like bees and ants
1. God of War was and is a masterpiece. Easily my 2018 game of the year. It had cinematics but it's a story driven narrative game and even then, still took me over 60 hours to complete. If Gears 5 can be at that level, hell yeah!!!! I don't see how the wide-linear structure would hurt it and I see it as making it better. RPG elements remain to be seen and we don't know exactly what that will be if at all. In terms of cinematics, I want a story and strong narrative. It's second most important to me after gameplay. Gears is great but Gears 5 will elevate it back to what Gears 2 was at the time. You think it will be worse and I think it will be better. Just have to wait until we play the game. As for replaying the game, this honestly doesn't apply to me because im not a fan of replaying games. In my entire 30 years of gaming, I have replayed less than five games excluding sports and puzzle games like Tecmo and Tetris. Main games though even going back to NES, I don't believe that it's more than five games. Just not a fan of replaying a game in which I know everything already. Majority of my games, I play on hard and complete it once and it's done. Time to move on to the next game for me. Of course, im single player console only gamer so me replaying games just isn't me. And I obviously have zero interest in online gaming.

3. Kara removes that blue light tracker thing which im pretty sure is what allows them to track each other. The story isn't perfect but it's better than majority of games out there and all the different outcomes and paths is insane. Out of the three choice based games I played, Detroit is by far the best one. To each their own though. I play these once every three years and try to play what I believe are the best ones.

4. As for Ubisoft, I never played Prince of Persia and wasn't a fan of Ubisoft until Far Cry 3 outside of Splinter Cell Conviction. I did play and complete AC Unity and it was a 7.0/10 good game at best. The story and characters were fine. The world was beautiful and the combat was decent but I preferred pre-Unity combat honestly and I hated the cover/stealth system in the game as I thought it was horrible. Plus, Unity screws up the introduction which is the ending of AC Rogue which was far better than Unity in every way except for visuals. I also hated all the co-op garbage. Unity has Heists but it's nearly impossible to complete solo. Unity also had a LOT of Icons, Towers, repetitive missions and collectibles.

Syndicate was easily better and I gave that game an 8.0/10 (great) and really enjoyed it but still didn't like the cover system or the gang aspect because everyone looked exactly the same which took me out of it. The story was great as was the final boss fight and all the side content was damn good. Visually, it was definitely a step or two back from Unity but the game itself was overall better.

With that all said, I easily prefer Origins and Odyssey as they're simply far better games. Are they action RPG's now? Yes but Unity started it but to a lesser extent. To me, Ubisoft revitalized and rejuvenated the franchise after Unity/Syndicate killed it.

As for repetitive quests, EVERY game is repetitive. I will never understand this complaint from anyone because it makes zero sense. It all comes down to "are enjoying the gameplay loop enough to where you will keep doing it until you complete the game?" That's how I look at it. Repetitive is a word I never use in any game because it applies to literally every game, past, present and future.

For me, it's Rogue (9.5/10), Black Flag (9.5/10), Odyssey (9.0/10), Origins (9.0/10), Syndicate (8.0/10), Unity (7.0/10) and Liberation HD (7.0/10).

Black Flag was my first AC game and it got me. Rogue has the better story and characters but it's half the length. Both endings are excellent though. I love the tropical setting of Black Flag over Rogue but Rogue eliminated eavesdropping missions which I fucking hated. Standing in that stupid green circle was horrible and overdone in Black Flag. Love both games and the top four on my list. Syndicate I enjoyed a lot too at the time but easily prefer the four ahead of it. Unity and Liberation simply weren't that good for me.

I don't play online but I did play For Honor's campaign and I enjoyed it a lot. Combat and battle system is great. I do love Ubisoft's formula and majority of the time, their games cater to what I want and prefer. They have declined with Far Cry though in my opinion but everything else is either better or new IP's. I can't wait for Thursday night travel DC as I play The Division 2 as a solo lone wolf. Very hyped!!! Loved the open beta and im ready!!!

In the end, to each their own. Not every game or decision is going to appeal to everyone. That's just not going to happen. For me, I simply play the games that cater to what I want, appeal to me and interest me to where I want to buy the game and play it through.
Oh god this will be an epic fight.

This makes me angry, because after prooving theirself able to create the almost perfect gears they decided to going after an easy 90 MC and please people like you or the critic instead of improving the gears formula in key areas. And just because they had to chase that fucking god of war moment? Fuck all this.
I'm all for stealth and action, they adds new possibilities for several runs and for the online.
3) I made only one path, and a scifi thriller with such an amount of plot holes and dumb parts is offensive to scifi. Like we have such an amount of mature storytelling about robots and humankind (an example: Asimov), and then we had to witness such a waste of resources.
4)Warriors within for xbox and ps2 is one of my favourite games of all time, such a good level design and parkour.
I loved how the infiltration and the level design worked in unity and odissey. Really immersive, then origins cancelled it like thanos snapping his fingers. They weren't perfect games, but still more enjoyable than the two "O".
Black Flagg and Rogue have a problem: I've played after sea of thieves and the management of the ship becames boring soon and it has an extremely low skill gap, it's based only on the grind, then you can outperform each menace.
Morgoth Bauglir just keep doing what you're doing. If people are really bothered, they can scroll on.

Its also nice for those that might be job hunting to have it all in one place.
It's a dirty job and I fucking enjoy it.
But I'm really obsessive. I'm an aspie, I'm stressed if I don't do everything in precise order
he was backed by zhuge

Splash Damage and Ruffian working on the PC versions of MCC + Reach. Makes you think. 🤔
It was clear that 343's needed extra staff for extra work.
But this debunk the theory that elbow rocket games is ruffian

Yes, I've a saving with an high profile community, it will be legendary. Still a little bummer because I was expecting turnbull valley remake
What if he likes to play on Xbox though? I also live in a region which is basically the same as what he described. Xbox is a distant fourth here. The problem is that MS devaluing Xbox ecosystem by releasing their games on other platforms. Which leads to less physical games imported for example (something that is already happening) and some other weird decisions in my area because there is almost zero interest for them to support low userbase. By releasing games on Steam they basically show that PC gamers can no even give a chance to Windows Store because MS is easy to fall for their whining about a certain game not being on Steam.
Don't get me wrong. I support the idea of bringing games to PC. But IMO they should improve Windows Store instead of choosing the easy path to release them on Steam. At least Windows Store is the same ecosystem, so losing some consoles sales in exchange of some new players on PC is a nice idea because it doesn't shrink potenital userbase. Game developers use the same SDK and it makes sense for them to support Xbox platform in this case which bring more software. Releasing on Steam, on the other hand, kinda shows that you can just put game on Steam and that's it.
As if the winstore isn't already growing and improving at his pace. Still I mostly agree with on you with this choosing the easy way. I'm not sure it will pay well in the distant future, still right now means a tons of money and extra hype for infinite.
And pizza memes.
This is a great move for the IP. I'm happy that team Xbox and 343i decided to put it on as many platforms as possible. As for me (a primarily console player) i'm currently installing MCC on xbox. The platform's identity is going to change through the upcoming years and hopefully for the better. There are some truly exciting times ahead in both the hardware department and the software department.
I agree with the last part, but I'm skeptical about how this will pay off on the long term.
mcc is gunna do so good on pc and steam that Microsoft gunna be wondering why it didn’t do it earlier. I suspect it will have a good following on twitch aswell.

I also can’t wait to play reach’s campaign. Hoping that there is ranked for reach too. I’ll be playing it for ages.
I can give a game a second chance now without 30 blurry fps. I love gamepass.
I'm sure it will sell 10M in a year
In msft she would have been only a regular studio head, now this is something different. I'm pretty interested to see the evolution of gaming in the next years
Those added MAUs will be dead weight though. This metric is a way to show how many players are willing to spend money on your software and services. Microsoft will get nothing from such users after the game's purchase. Which makes it pretty pointless to count them for anything but to show some nice numbers to investors.

Hurry up dude, you can save investor's money from those con artist at microsoft using MAUs's scam.
I don't really care about MCC but to me all this pc initiative screams "xbox is not successfull so we're bringing everything to PC". Even on steam because they can't make their own store work.
This is may true, but still is no way a bad news. Like life, business always find a way
xCloud is probably their last hope and attempt until they go third-party it seems. Because if it doesn't take off it will left them with low consoles userbase (as there is almost no way for the next-gen Xbox to even reach Xbox One sales numbers, not even close, I guess 30m LT at best), with no presence on PC market (windows store has only some MS published games which can still end up on Steam). And the devs and publishers will just drop the platform support and that's it. There will be less games, so even less less hardware sales and MS will just pull the plug on Xbox instead of spending more money on it.
"last hope" means that they are desperate, financial reports tell a different story.
But I hope that the staff designing anaconda and lockhart see this comment so they don't wast their time on a doomed plattform, clearly derpysquirtle64 knows better than them.
wow that developer conference i

after sony and nintendo see how much money it makes they will put their own gamepass and psnow on other platforms as well.
PSnow is already on pc and mac, soon it will arrive even on smartphone.
Even shawn layden said that we are close to a post console setting
The film industry and the game industry market are different....there are no Big 3 that control the Market....
The film industry is way closer to a monopoly than gaming. In gaming we have several huge publisher, while in cinema most of the market is in the hand of disney+fox, warner and universal, with paramount and sony struggling to compete with their power.
Release MCC on Steam in 2019. Get people signed up for Xbox Live. (They get a community on XBox Live for Halo, they get used to Xbox achievements, etc.)

Then, 1 year later, releaes Halo Infinite on Windows 10 with Game Pass. Meanwhile the store has improved and people will play the game via the Game Pass sub.

That's how you get engagement.
I don't agree with you on this, otherwise players still boycott winstore(and we know it's being massive reworked in the background from various source, official and insiders) because they know that a remote chance of playing it on steam exist.
Still this is no way a bad news like someone is suggesting in the thread, just thinking the massive amount of money 343 will do and the buzz created about the saga bringing new players in.
And don't forget the most important part: we saw a massive amount of shitpost about pizza.
And EA might instead want EA's service to be the only option to stream EA games from.
EA plan's will be, obv IMHO, a disaster, they have not enough content year over year, but maybe I'm understimating the madden/fifa crowd
It's not significant. It's an interesting marketing plan, but the Microsoft Theatre will still be the Microsoft Theatre.

The plaza between the E3 convention centre and the Microsoft Theater will be named Xbox Plaza. Don't think anyone will notice when they walk there.
They will notice in July when the place will turn green and crimson omens everywhere
Boosted XP and Gold weekend for Sea of Thieves coming up. Awesome idea!

Only one week to the mega update reveal.
It was weird not seeing Shannon when they showed all women of Xbox.

Does MSGP even still exists? It's gone completely silent and more recent partnerships have been handled internally buly the teams (battletoads and Gears Pop/Tactics)
Gears and battletoads are handled directly by TC and Rare without the support of MSGP

I see many jobs on minecraft in redmond, I know that Mojang isn't the only entity involved in minecraft but this shows that's only a small part of running minecraft.

AI is a weird problem, the main obstacle is that usually the AI is dumb for design choices.

Oh god this will be an epic fight.
1) I've no opinion on god of war except: this game is basically not designed for me. I played only the first hours and I didn't enjoyed and turned back to the friend who lent it to me. I've stopped after the dragon and I just watches random videos and they all prooved that that game looked like it was designed to don't be enjoyed by me, too much empty moments, backtracking and useless rpg lite mechanics.
So I defenitely prefer the death of gaming than gears following that road. The ice lake in the trailer still triggers me because promise extra useless and empty hours of travel instead of fun. I'm not against cinematics and story, but I don't take that stuff too seriously, the narrative in games is definitely trash compared to real narrative(I study medieval and renaissence italian literature at university so I'm a bit biased lol), the important is that they don't steal space to gameplay. A negative example of this is tlou, the narrative is good(the plot is extra basic), but often the narrative prevail gameplay which is not as polished as those parts(I remember glitching the game several times during the shooting parts, in particular during Joel's brother section where I discover I could easily skip them and I triggered the cutscene while hearing the bandits swearing in the background). I even follow the lore, eu and other nerdish thing about many gaming franchises, but I found pretty irrelevant.
To me replaybility is the queen i gears after the gameplay, it could be enjoyed several times, in solo or in group(and I already struggle with narrative played segments between the fights if they are too long, like the first act in gears 4 in which they talk inside the buildings about Jinn's politcs, like why I had to pass this again?) and this bring me to wide combat: it simply means it will be filled with tons of wasted section to endure like god of war or the tomb raider reboots, instead of combat or enjoyable fun arcade sections.

Basically, it sounds like you're not really a fan of story driven narrative games which I can understand as not everyone is. For God of War, it was the excellent gameplay and combat system, the story, narratives, characters, visuals, audio and the world especially when you advance through the game and other areas open up. TLOU was also my 2013 goty. Neither are perfect but out of all the other games that I played in their respective years, they simply stand above the rest.

As for Gears 5, the ice part could just be a cinematic of the game showing you how they're getting there. I do wish I could play that instead though but it won't be a big deal if I can't. Overall, it seems like you're simply more into the old school games before all the cinematics started truly being on an epic scale as opposed to back then when it was minimal and just starting. At least, that's how it sounds to me. You're simply not a fan of games that are heavy on cinematic story telling.

Detroit was still a great game for what the idea and concept is plus while there may be plot holes, there's a lot of different paths that could actually fill those plot holes but we just don't know about it. I enjoyed the game and in terms of choice based games, I easily see it as the best.

Can't comment on Prince of Persia as I never played any of them. I loved Origins and Odyssey though and have no major issues with their direction. If I had to pick two, one would be no randomly generated garbage which I don't like at all in games and to bring back hunting and skinning of animals.

Have zero interest in Sea of Thieves as it simply doesn't cater to me a single player gamer and I could see the Naval aspects in BF and Rogue being too much after Sea of Thieves but at the same time, if you were to have played Black Flag and Rogue when they released (like I did) and then play Sea of Thieves, the argument could also go the other way being that the Naval aspects are simply too underdone for Sea of Thieves.

Of course, I loved the Naval aspects and ship combat in Black Flag. That and the tropical setting is what made me go all in on the game since it was shown at E3 2013 to where I bought the game and season pass based on just that. Was a great decision and I still look back at what an amazing game Black Flag was. At least for me anyway.

In short though, our tastes are simply the opposite or at least for the most part which is fine. I'm hyped for Gears 5 and liked everything I saw from E3 2018 and hopefully, you'll enjoy the game as much as I will when it releases later this year.

Black Flag could have a gajillion different options at sea and I'd still prefer SoT. BF mistakes setting for romance. SoT is not to everyone's tastes at all, but each encounter feels special and dynamic and earned, rather than turning the excitement of the seas into yet another gameified whack-a-mole as in BF.

Anyway, that's by the by.

There's a lot of people in this thread that want a new Conker game. Some of us latched on to an idea a while ago of a series of short Conker games on game pass that were all parodies of other games or movies or whatever. God of Squirrel, Red Fur Redemption, Suicide Squirrels.

I haven't let go of that idea, I still think about it every now and again.
I still think it should be a seasonal thing where they let different devs hop in have their take. Get every XGS studio to have some fun with it and make some fun little experience that can reflect their own titles or they can just go buck wild with whatever they want.

the hype is real. IMHO it was a strange decision to wait four months before the update, we will see if it pays of
It's not "wait", it's probably because there a lot of new features and that takes time to be developed.

You are jumping to a lot of conclusion without anything to back it up here, really. And as far as narrative driven games, Gears since it's inception is a cinematic (and extremely) linear game. They can change up the formula without hurting the core gameplay, although we'll have to wait and see if this happens. About God of War, i really disagree that backtracking and empty moments hurt the game, they actually were positive for it's pacing overall, and as far as mechanics go, God of War is an absolute masterpiece in action/combat games. It's really good and refined. I'll agree with you that the RPG-lite mechanics are useless, which there aren't any evidences that will show up in Gears 5.

A big, month long, XGS wide Conker game jam. #BadFurJam2019

I have a question for the thread people, do you have anybody who wants new conker or remake?

I think it is a good idea to play with a backward compatible conker but this game is really good.
Conker is one of my all time favorites, and something that I have been hopeful for years and years.

Chris Seavor has hinted at a spiritual successor for Conker's Bad Fur Day. As for Rare or Microsoft doing it? Its really hard to tell with them. I think somebody came in this thread not long ago and had the idea of Conker working the way Kingdom Hearts does, where Conker could visit different franchises in each universe. Like a Halo World, Minecraft, Gears, etc. I thought it was a really cool idea.

Relic is from Sega that is public traded. If they had bought it I think they would have been obligated to report it already
I actually looked this up when the Relic rumors started. They do their third quarter earnings reporting in early February, their yearly earnings in May, and their first quarter earnings in August. Microsoft could definitely work with Sega to hit a window. April will be the next interesting month to watch (because they would have to disclose the deal in May). If it doesn't happen in April (likely at Inside Xbox, in my opinion), they could theoretically wait to announce the deal at E3 (to be reported to investors in August).

While they are definitely beholden to investors to announce selling an asset (like Relic) during an earning's report, I don't think they have any other requirements, like advanced notice or immediate notification if a deal is agreed upon.

That's very interesting. Even though there's a timeframe between earnings reports I assumed any finalized deal that may impact those results should be communicated immediately.

If what matters is how many people play your games then, I repeat, you may as well go third party. Release them on PS4 and switch and you will have tons of users playing your games.
When more people are engaging with the brand, the brand is growing.

If that’s not “what matters” then what isn’t that you think matters? Do you think it’s just about how many people play on your proprietary box?

As to why MS wouldn’t just go full 3rd party, you must remember what MS’ true goal- get gaining Windows users. With Windows being the dominant platform for Steam users, supporting Steam doesn’t hurt their efforts at all. Natively supporting Nintendo with all their games would cost them opportunities to push a windows product.
