Jesus with all these hires. That dude who said MS was planning to hire 600 new employees within existing studios is redeemed.

Interesting that they don't mention cars in that Forzatech description haha. Makes sense, but still interesting.Senior Software Engineering Lead, ForzaTech - Turn 10 Studios
Redmond, Washington, United States
https://careers.microsoft.com/us/en...re-Engineering-Lead-ForzaTech-Turn-10-Studios
Microsoft's Turn 10 Studios, creator of the highly-acclaimed Forza franchise, is looking for an experienced C++ game engine developer to lead our efforts in sharing ForzaTech game engine technology. ForzaTech is the core engine code & libraries, authoring tools, and build pipeline that allow us to ship beautiful, photorealistic, 60fps, 4K, industry-leading games across multiple titles, studios, and platforms. The tech sharing effort requires intense coordination between multiple product teams. We are looking for someone who is strong technically, as well as great at communication and collaboration.
ForzaTech in more studios and games???
What? You don't think bringing back Duke Nukem was an unmitigated success that every edgy 80s/90s property should emulate?Makes sense. Conker is a product of it's time and probably should be left there.
Referring to Forever? That wasn't bad because of Duke Nukem's brand of humor, it was just an all around bad game.Interesting that they don't mention cars in that Forzatech description haha. Makes sense, but still interesting.

By Killer Instinct you mean Iron Galaxy? So Killer Instinct II and Relic are close to joining.
That's my take
that info has been known for quite a while actually.I don't know if you should include names as that information has not been confirmed publicly and could be under NDA...
I retract my statement then :) I just didn't want people he knows to get in trouble. (I expected it to be the case just didn't remember hearing official confirmation) good news all around though. I can't wait for my Phantom white controller!
Wish I could justify getting that one and the recent sport red they released like a month ago. Already have an Elite and Sea of Thieves controller (plus ones from each console release) will wait till next gen before I get a new one I think.I retract my statement then :) I just didn't want people he knows to get in trouble. You are making me feel irresponsible lol. (I have the exact same controller collection with a Duke re-release added.)Wish I could justify getting that one and the recent sport red they released like a month ago. Besides Relic, what are your guys' expectations (not necessarily dreams) for number of acquisitions MS makes this year?
IG would be great if they are working on KI2. Games would explode in Game Pass. Still not sure why the first one is not on there yet.
Im guessing trying shoehorn 343's engine into many new games before its even been pushed for FPS's would have worse results than how EA forced Frostbite onto all their studios and caused many game cancellations and delays. Slipspace probably has a higher ceiling than ForzaTech but at this point probably lacks a lot as far as doing anything outside of Halo/FPS at the moment and the tools for taking best advantage of that are probably still being developed and perfected.Interesting that they would adapt ForzaTech to be for more games, but not Slipstream. Seems odd. I mean, I get that ForzaTech is a more mature engine (like a decade old at this point), but I would think that it would also be more limited. Whereas, a new engine like Slipstream could be developed in such a way to allow for multiple genres and game types (open world, shooters, racers, RPGs, etc.)
EDIT: also why on earth is 343 still hiring so many senior positions? How are they making progress on a game if that much is happening. Wouldn't lower level positions be the focus as development proceeds?

Ultimately it depends on what Google does, if it's streaming then MS will probably push Xcloud. I can see Google pushing for exclusives, not buying loads of studios. Who would sell themselves to Google, knowing how quickly they drop projects etc?Think I've mentioned it a few times but Google entering the market will make MS react.
Who they acquire next will be bigger in scale and well established
So far one of the most beautiful open world games this gen uses ForzaTech (FH4) so I would say it's got some life in it. We have yet to see what it can do outside of closed circuit and open world racing but with this type of investment maybe the surface hasn't been scratched.Well sure. I was just under the impression that ForzaTech is really old. But I guess idk. I'm sure it got revamped for Forza 5.
Could ask why any devs/pubs are working with Google in general, knowing how quickly they give up. Surely they're not the only player in the game with a big wallet to fund those projects?Ultimately it depends on what Google does, if it's streaming then MS will probably push Xcloud. One day you may be building new services to facilitate cross-platform Game Pass experiences. The next, driving detailed requirements to an OS platform team to enable onboarding of 3rd party content or working with the console platform team to figure out how to get our customers playing their games faster.
You are making me want to try to get in just to see the logo.Wont say anything about the game. But love when you start up SoT Insider it says Xbox Game Studios. Feels good.
Oh make no mistake, Microsoft will have known exactly what Google is up to for a long time. They're obviously close to the same third parties that Google will have been speaking to and despite NDAs, people still talk over drinks and food. They'll also no doubt have banged heads against Google for marketing, exclusivity, developer and publisher deals etc.I would assume MS have been keeping an eye on Google for a long time, and their studio pruchases have been all part and parcel of the same strategy - to build as strong a market position as possible, vis Sony, but also any others - Google for instance.
It's just a logo!
Wont say anything about the game. But love when you start up SoT Insider it says Xbox Game Studios. Feels good.
its just the logo with gold color.
I mean that is the logo haha. :D
wouldn't surprise meDo you also think that the SoT anniversary update is a good opportunity to put SoT on Steam? I'm sure it'll work out very well on it.
yeah its very basic. I didn't pay attention enough to see if the font was the same as the rest of the sot text though.
Sot?Wont say anything about the game. But love when you start up SoT Insider it says Xbox Game Studios. Feels good.
Wondering why Crackdown 3 had the old logo and they are not updating it - but the game still gets updates...the new Xbox Game Studios logo in Sea of Thieves is sooooo nice.
They are doing custom ones per game it seems. Shit is gonna look sooo clean
I don't think we will see many games developed by Micorsoft owned studios on Steam. MCC probably is just to get people into the "Xbox" ecosystem with Live, Friends and Achievments. MCC on PC isnt even done by 343Do you also think that the SoT anniversary update is a good opportunity to put SoT on Steam? I'm sure it'll work out very well on it.

That would be breaking NDA... Theorry even saying the change of the logo is breaking NDA...Alright, one of us must actually own of a copy of Sea of Thieves. Just post a screenshot of the logo in the thread, and maybe it'll be included in the next OP.
join the insider program and see for yourself.Alright, one of us must actually own of a copy of Sea of Thieves. Just post a screenshot of the logo in the thread, and maybe it'll be included in the next OP.
My theories regarding MCC on PC (for some petty things hahah)
-Reach will be the first to release on PC because that's the one that left on Xbox, so it made sense regardingstory chronology but also this way they could complete the series on Xbox before concentrating their efforts on the PC version.
-Reach's Firefight is bought with the campaign because this way when they get to ODST on PC they can release its Firefight in the same way making it available to all those that bought the campaign for free and there won't be as many complains about confusing release methods as it will be the same way as they did with Reach
Seeing Phil's wording I think that all the future games will launch on it as well. Why give PC Players the choice of where buy games and being proud of that and take that statement back right just after saying it.I don't think we will see many games developed by Micorsoft owned studios on Steam. MCC probably is just to get people into the "Xbox" ecosystem with Live, Friends and Achievments. MCC on PC isnt even done by 343
