Sort of cross posting from the patch notes thread, but here goes:
I enjoy RPGs on the whole, just tepid with jumping into this one. Any suggestions or ideas to help ground me, I feel like I almost need to see a video of someone in combat and be able to see their hands and screen at the same time. Does anyone know if this exists?
Also were any of the complaints about the handheld resolution resolved with prior patches?
I saw your post in the other thread - but I'm afraid it's difficult to describe the combat. It's super complex, but starts off very simple.
It is built around automated attacks, building metre and performing specials. However, that really is just scraping the surface.
What I will say is, it builds over time and you are constantly incentivised to engage in each battle - despite having elements of automation, the game has systems in place to make sure you don't just sit and watch.
For example, cancelling out of auto-attacks at the right time into your special attacks, gives you a damage boost. Additionally, some specials might do more damage from the side or from behind, meaning you have to adjust where you are on the battlefield to get the most out of them.
It does start slow, but it becomes VERY systems heavy. I'm trying explain enough to give you an idea of what it's like without going into loads of other stuff. lol
There's A LOT to take in. Just don't go in expecting an action game.
