Thinking about Kiwami more in the nitpick thread on here I do think while its a fantastic remake its a pity that time/budget/ambition didn't have them go out and change/fix a few things with the game - mainly the Jingu fight not being shit would have been a huge improvement (strange they left it pretty much untouched aside from it maybe being a bit less bad thanks to the better combat/controls that 0's combat system provided).Just finished kiwami 1, as much as I liked it i feel like it broke something for everything it fixed from the original. Still super fun though!

I also have some issues with Majima, though not so much that they had him appear too much (though honestly they did), I loved his increased presence in the game however I felt that also undermined the gravity of his boss encounters (not to mention his new theme not being a patch on his RGG1 theme). Plus the new story scene with him before Shangri La felt forced and silly.
Its still the best version of RGG1, and one of my favourite remakes of all time but they could have done even better. Though it really was just a budget release while the main team was beavering away with 6. So all things considered it still turned out pretty great!
Ah good point, that'd be hilariously bad for me, imagine slaving away at Drone Racing and Puyo Puyo, being so close to 100% and then BAM! Save game no longer valid, Hamura just had a face lift and you gotta start the game all over again!
Speaking of Hamura, nice to see another Judgment thread derailed by people complaining about Japanese law... I sure hope the OT is actually about the game, not pointless whining.
Well, by my point I meant it seems like its company policy across the board to remove him, as Sega's not the only one taking this approach. Only difference in this case is they actually did something to get the game (re)released rather than have it lost forever. I don't agree with removing him, but at the same time I get why they did it. I'm just glad the game has another chance at selling, especially given that Sega has seemingly managed to get the game released in English on its proposed release date rather than delaying or even canceling it.
Believe it or not, you're not really breaking any momentum going from Kiwami to 0. I know it's set chronologically earlier, but 0 is a pretty action-packed, dramatic story, and having more context on the background for these characters will only help going into Kiwami 2. There's also a big payoff in Kiwami 2's Majima scenario that you will only feel the impact of if you've played Yakuza 0.So, i finished kiwami 1 and i am here to ask a question.
i had both kiwami 1 and 0 and started with kiwami first *hears groaning* but hear me out, i am not new to the series and familiar with the OG game plus its shorter .
Now i have 2 choices: going forward to kiwami 2 and keep the momentum plus its also shorter than 0
or going back to 0 ,experience the natural evolution of gameplay and graphics engine
heard that kiwami 2 is more connected to 0 but i dunno if its just substory and i can ignore it for the time being or it more central to the main story
help me choose which one to play first
note that i already played 3 and 4 , but its not relative to this i think.
Hearing it's the best only make me want it to play it later, but if it is that connected to Majima story in K2 then that makes me want to prioritize it more, thanks!Believe it or not, you're not really breaking any momentum going from Kiwami to 0. If that's not enough to convince you, then I'll just say it plain and simple: Yakuza 0 is worth playing because it's (arguably) the best game in the series!
If you decide to save it for later in the end, just don't play Kiwami 2's Majima scenario until you finish 0. It doesn't fully unlock until late in the game anyway, so it's easy to avoid.Hearing it's the best only make me want it to play it later, but if it is that connected to Majima story in K2 then that makes me want to prioritize it more, thanks!
Wait, what? I just finished Majima's stuff in Kiwami 2 and didn't notice anything that tied in with 0. It has been nearly 2 years since I played 0 though, so maybe I just don't remember. There's also a big payoff in Kiwami 2's Majima scenario that you will only feel the impact of if you've played Yakuza 0.

Was pretty meh overall on the Majima chapters in K2. Mainly due to the fact that he has like 2 heat moves and no grab so there wasn't much variety to the fighting.

Ha, wow. I am concerned about my memory. I definitely remember that now, though. Thank you!Makoto Makimura returns in the Majima Saga, and a sense of closure is given. People who haven't played 0 would have little idea of who she is, or her significance.
So... any word on if these remasters are getting released in English? They've been quiet for so long.lol. Just kidding
Been really enjoying some Yakuza related music lately (as always). I've really started liking Kiwami's intro theme Bleed:
I've only played Kiwami through in Japanese once and kinda forgot about it, so its been nice listening to it again. Definitely a way better main song/intro song than the one that the localisation got. I still prefer Receive You though, and then, I think I really prefer the original RGG1 version of Receive You, just because its the series theme as a whole (there's always at least one "Receive You" song in any Yakuza game going by the track list, usually belonging to Majima.
The other song I've really been loving is this one from Judge Eyes. Its a super big spoiler though, so don't look unless you've already played the game:
Shin Amon. The baddest bastard in the entire game, such a great piece of boss music, goes together nicely with a batshit insane boss fight. Only a month left!
Something I'm not understanding about a plot point in Y0
how did the person who killed Makoto's body double know about Lee's Idea to kill the body double?
So I heard Yakuza 5 for PS4 is finally coming to Europe, is that true?
Judgment is out after E3. So no, I'd wait a few months after that release before starting to worry. If we don't hear an announcement around E3, then I'd start to worry about the PS4 ports.
Yeah, we already knew Kiwami 2 was coming over here roughly a month before 6 was out in the west so this radio silence is worrying, but we will see.If we don't hear an announcement around E3, then I'd start to worry about the PS4 ports.

Did not stop them from announcing Lost Paradise which was coming out a little over a month after Kiwami 2. Unless they have a tailored event where they can make the announcement, E3 seems like the best time for a fall release announcement including any of the ports (of which there is not much if anything from SEGA at the moment).
Unless, they do the Yakuza 2 route and make the announcement at TGS.
edit: wait, I'm wrong, there is the Space Channel 5 VR game for the fall, so it's not so empty.
Watch the cutscene where Majima throws away the bag with the pictures + uniform again. You'll see Nishitani show up right after.
