Sega sure has no luck with this do they :( I really liked both Kanda and Nagumo, but those games were older while JE was newer (with the whole Hamura thing) so hopefully they'll not do anything drastic.
"Serious update" about RGG Online coming tomorrow. Its not exactly been a huge smash, so who knows what this means. Chapter 20 of the story was just released as well, and it doesn't seem like they are close to finishing it unless chapter 20 is several hours long and deals with the many lingering questions with the plot.
Oh, and it looks like they've got Mine in the game, yay!
As always, thanks for the insight into this stuff :) I gotta say, I've been mainly just keeping an eye on the game for plot reasons, and I do agree that as of now I really like Ichiban's character, especially in the last couple of chapters. What does it mean with regards to the second part though (new protag, someone from the main series later)? Results of the survey
*ave.age 36
*gender ratio male 80%, female 19%, other 1%
*85% of players have played the main series
*fans don't feel this is RGG but they enjoy the story & Ichiban's character
Even though Sega wanted to get new players with online, it turned out that most of the players were RGG fans after all. So from now on, they will listen to the fans and try to satisfy them. They call this as reborn project.
With the September's update, the first part will end. The second part will start with the new protagonist, someone from the main sreise, later.
Also, Mine's content will be added and it tells you how he met Daigo, became a yakuza member and made his own family Hakuho-kai (Kanda's voice actor has been replaced already).
Same here hahalol, the end of that clip. The funny thing is the dudes kick totally reminds me of one that Kiryu has in one of the Yakuza games.
You can visit hostess clubs in Online, but I think that's it? I've only really followed the plot, not the activities, which I'm pretty in the dark over! What they need to do for Yakuza Online is add the cabaret club mini game. And the clan mini game (or is that in already?)
Same here haha
I am in the dark as well but for everything that has to do with the story. Makes me wonder if we will get the same story as the game (as in same story beats). You can visit hostess clubs in Online, but I think that's it? I do wonder about the story, especially with one plot chapter having basically 0 fighting gameplay, but basically being all about surviving on the streets. Plus there's the whole question over if Mayumi is even going to be in Shin RGG or is cut for the new girl that'll be alongside Ichiban. He does get some really good plot development in the last couple of chapters, so I'm excited to see how that translates over to the main console game.I am in the dark as well but for everything that has to do with the story. Cool to hear there is hostess clubs. I remember I tought the idea was just a waste of time before playing Yakuza for the first time but they turned out to be really entertaining.
Damn I can't wait to see Ichiban's story. It sounds amazing from the impressions and his backstory video I saw a while back right after they revealed him was really hype.I do wonder about the story, especially with one plot chapter having basically 0 fighting gameplay, but basically being all about surviving on the streets. I've spent SO many hours today on that Five Billionaires questline, holy shit. I think this is my favorite part of the game by far. I don't want to continue the main story or go back to Majima anymore. Can I just play a full game of Mr. President? :(
Marina best girl.
I hope there's more interactions with Marina. Interviewing candidates was a lot of fun, and I loved even the small bits of Kiryu asking her not to read his letters to the radio show. That Real Estate Royale activity was awesome. Some people didn't seem to dig it because of how long it can take, but eh I loved buying up all the properties and fighting the Billionaires.
Yakuza 5 is one of the best games in the series just because of these activities. The mountain and Taxi are my favorites of the bunch.I loved the plots with the 5 billionaires and club owners for Kiryu and Majima. Nice mini games that gave you a nice number of fights and some great dialogue/challenges to boot (while beating the Electronics King's Outrun score I ended up completing the game, which was an incredible run in itself!)
Only game I'd say has better activities/stories tied to them is 5. The mountain stuff in 5 is awesome, as is the taxi missions/races. Haruka and Shinada get plenty of great content as well, though Haruka's always felt a bit weird for me - since its the only one of the four that directly influences the story (as you have to participate in the Princess League stuff to the end, unlike the others where you can drop it after introduction if you wanted)/
Speaking of which, after a short Zelda break, I'll be getting back to Yakuza 5 this week with Haruka's part :)
I'd find it hard to believe they'd not cut content for an eventual remake. 5 almost had too much! That's why I never see a remake of 5 happening, it'd be a nightmare to get everything in (let alone add anything new) while making three new Dragon Engine cities, 4 new playable characters in the DE etc. Plus bar some draw distance issues 5 is pretty perfect as is. So slick and smooth on the PS4!Yakuza 5 is one of the best games in the series just because of these activities. The mountain and Taxi are my favorites of the bunch.
Makes me sad we never got an activity for Akiyama. I can imagine him having the cabaret club mini game if they ever make a dragon engine remake (which I doubt they will ever do).
Speaking of the cabaret club, I am going to have to go back to Kiwami 2 and finish that one. I saved it up to return later and finish the whole thing but I got busy and never did. I do love the throwbacks it had to Zero though.
Other than having loading screens for the stores I agree with you that it doesn't need anything.I'd find it hard to believe they'd not cut content for an eventual remake. 5 almost had too much! Akiyama would make sense to have something club related. I'd actually prefer they lean more on his money lending. GTA V had a thing with stocks, and Yakuza (and GTA) has dabbled with property purchases before, so that side of things would be a fun change. It would flesh him out nicely alongside some of his existing side stories in 5 which filled out his background nicely.
Can I challenge him again? Lost the first time, I'm terrible at the game.I loved the plots with the 5 billionaires and club owners for Kiryu and Majima. Nah. One and done, if you lose you can't rechallenge them to those activities. Can I challenge him again? Lost the first time, I'm terrible at the game.
Yes! Finding everyone outside the building was SO cool! I love when games do that and gather everyone you helped in sidequests at some point.Yeah the larger side activities they started adding are pretty awesome.
I love how the rest of the game also fed into them. Side quests could result in getting a new hire for a position at your real estate business or a new draft on your baseball team in Y6. Loved seeing the goofy side quest characters come back and getting to use them. It also meant that side quests had a much better reward and draw than just some cash and xp.
I felt like this was missing in Judgment.
Can I still do the boss fight?Nah. One and done, if you lose you can't rechallenge them to those activities.
Yagami's side stuff were smaller stories/cases which I liked - tied in with the story nicely as I always felt I were taking on other cases to actually earn money while investigating the main case. That's my head cannon for things anyway. I wonder what Ichiban will end up doing...
We are still in the dark so far.I just want to drop in here and say that even though I've only finished Yakuza 0, Kiwami and Kiwami 2, I've been following this thread for months just because the "(No Remaster News Yet!)" title and eagerly awaiting if/when it changes as I'm craving more Yakuza (I'd really prefer to go in order of the series and leave 6/Judgement for the end).
With all that said, we're a few weeks away from the year anniversary of Yakuza 3 Remaster being released in Japan. In my naivety, I thought 2019 would be the "year of Yakuza" for me and we'd have all or most of the remasters released in the west at this time and I'd be able to go full bore into this series. Well, we're now past E3, Judgement's release and they're heavily teasing the next Yakuza series and we haven't heard squat about the remasters. Should we be getting worried that this might not happen? Or, have I missed some news somewhere along the way? (I usually just bop into this thread in hopes the title just hadn't yet been updated and X out immediately if anything comes near talking about 3-6/Judgement)

I listen to the soundtracks on a rotation all the time. For me, 3 is still the best of the bunch in terms of soundtracks, its just so damn good when it comes to boss themes. 6 I feel I under rated for the longest time as well, listening to that OST again made me realise just how damn good it is. 0, 1 and 2 are all excellent as well, and even though I don't quite like 4 and 5's soundtracks quite as much, they still have some fantastic tunes in there (4 has perhaps the best final boss musics in the series). So I've been meaning to post about this for the longest time since beating Yakuza 0 about a month ago and figured that this would be a good place to put my thoughts. I had a long drive from work one day and needed some music to listen to so I decided to listen to YouTube's random mix of Yakuza songs.... And MAN there are some real good songs throughout the series. Mind you my first and only Yakuza game I've played so far has been 0 on Steam (with Kiwami 1 and 2 in my library currently) but listening to some of the tracks a Karaoke songs has me pumped to play more and I cant wait to really dig into this series!
Precisely. You only need to look at the amount of work they put into Judgment's localisation to know that much have been an even more intense workload for the team than usual, guess it didn't help when the whole Hamura thing happened either...The remasters are 100% coming over. Yakuza 3 being more work than 4/5 and Judgment taking up most of their localization/marketing focus has just meant it's taking a while. We'll probably hear some tease about it before the end of the year.
I personally think releasing all individually (physically) would be a harder sell. I know I love Yakuza 3 loads, but are most people wanting to buy that in 2019? Putting 3-5 together in a collectors edition or something. It'd be one of the most value filled collections out there, a good 300+ hours to 100% all three games. Who knows though, its hard to speculate when Sega remain silent on what's going on.
Nope. Budget priced in Japan, all three of them.I think they were full price games in Japan at launch, so that definitely wouldn't slide in the West.

Is there a place to read translated stuff on RGG online? Also, out of curiosity, what kinda game is it even? All I know is it's for mobile?
This is the site I've been following, she's been posting up main story translations (though not the side stories each character gets) and its a great way of experiencing it without actually playing it.
As for the type of game, its a Gacha game - get characters, power them up, fight other characters, power yours up more, grind grind grind grind grind over and over to get new characters... honestly the game itself does't appeal to me, just the superb art and story.
