Looks great, gameplay wise and the story as well. Looks like they're trying to adapt some of the Japanese font styling into the Western logo as well, which is nice.

As someone who hasn't touched a Yakuza game, this looks pretty dope and it's a RPG, count me in

Yakuza 6 was a beautifully subdued ending to Kiryu's story that made me cry at several points. They decided to forego the typical bombast of a Yakuza game to make a more intimate, emotional game, and I loved it for that.

This game, on the other hand, seems absolutely bonkers. A near complete 180 from the decisions of 6 while maintaining that signature Yakuza style. I cannot wait to play this!!

Looks like switching to JRPG gameplay allowed them to go all out with the heat moves. That, and turning the alternate costumes into classes is a nice touch.

The real issue here is that there doesn't appear to be any new* retro SEGA games.

It's just a bunch of titles (aside from VF5, which debuted and has constantly appeared since 6) that have been around since 5 and 0.
At least the kart racing mode looks wild.

*The pachislot games technically count, but i doubt anyone is particularly interested in trying them.

Give me Dancer Ichiban, I live for that shit (not really, but goddamn that's a look, ahahahaha)

The fact that Saeko has a Sailor Moon-type wand also has my interests.

I wasn't totally against it, but I'm certainly not impressed after watching the turn-based combat in action. A combat encounter drags on too long.

A Xenoblade combat system would fit better. Auto attacks while you can freely move, and execute heat moves on cooldowns. There will also be moves that should be activated from the side/back of the enemy, as well as combination moves with your companions. And of course, you can still use the summons after fulfilling certain requirements/bars in combat.

Anyone understand what that mini game at 2:29 is about ? Some kind of TV show ?

I'm willing to give the combat system a chance, the game looks great. Looks like a Mario Kart knockoff will be the main mini game this time around ?

I think it's going to be a fun change - I'm super excited to see how this combat system works over the course of a long adventure.

This looks really cool. Guess I'll have to play Yakuza Zero as my first game in the Yakuza series someday. I'm never going to play all of them and from what I've read thats the best one.

Looks like a Yakuza game to me - are people really not going to play it because it looks turn based? Combat looks like its basically turned into a whole bunch of heat actions.

From Gematsu:

Yakuza-Like-a-Dragon_2019_09-12-19_001.jpg

Dragon Kart is a dangerous racing game that turns the town areas of Yokohama into a course you race around in modded karts. Surpass your unique rivals and aim for first place. Also, many dangerous attack items such as a "Rocket Launcher" appear during the race. By using these, you can crash your rivals' karts. Karts can be switched and customized. Polishing your racing skills is one way to go about it, or you can focus completely on attacking your rivals. However you choose to do it, aim to dominate the Grand Prix.

—Drift and corner the kart in a Chinatown-esque cityscape. Polish your techniques and surpass your rivals!

—Many item boxes appear on the course. In addition to boost items, you can also obtain attack items like a Rocket Launcher or Gatling Gun. Fire away to crash your enemies and immediately pass them!
----------------------------
They've also detailed the movie theater mini-game and pachislot, as well as introduce Saeko and Adachi (two of the party members) so definitely give this a read:

Dragon Kark going to be fun and a time sinker :P Thers always a minigame they add custumisation that takes forever to get all the parts. In Judgment was the drone races, but i got bored fast, this one seems more fun.

It looks so good. Combat seems to have a good pace which was my main concern.

I didn't spot PuyoPuyo in the arcade game section, so maybe I can get the platinum trophy again. \o/

Oh god does it really turn into a turn based combat RPG? I think this is where me and Yakuza part ways :(

I continue to be wary of the whole turn based thing.. but overall the game looks really good.
