Okay Reset (Or Era?), I'm curious about the whole bitcoin thing. Not necessarily "Bitcoin" bitcoin, but more the idea of putting my PC to work for me while I'm away or asleep. Problem is, I don't know shit about this stuff, and I was hoping I could get a bit of a run down on how it all works. I *also* don't know if there's any value in it right now. I'm not really looking to get rich quick, but if there's a way to make some side cash with it, that'd be awesome.

Now, one of my big questions is, is how volatile is the mining itself? I know that the coins they produce can apparently swing left and right like no one's business, but if a video card or "ASIC" (what are these?) is projected to pay for itself after X days, how "solid" is that estimate? I've currently got an AMD 390, as I understand the GPU is the important part of the PC in these regards.

If there's a bitcoin or mining thread, then just point me that way haha.
