I said fuck it and went pre-built. I didn't particularly feel like putting another PC together but I was going to if I could find a 3080 relatively easy. We all know how that went and I just don't have the time or patience for that song and dance anymore. Got a 3080, 10700k and a nice NVMe SSD and called it a fucking day. Coming from a 290x, i7 4820k and a slow ass HDD I couldn't be happier.
I haven't bought a prebuilt since 2006!!!=O

I found out the hard way pre orders are king at time like this.

Got my 3080 and still waiting on ryzen 5900x.

Yeah, waiting for stuff to actually stock is the worst. I have everything sans the CPU for my system, but fortunately I have a backorder for it that actually might ship within the year.

Got all my other parts ITX build. Only need to get a EVGA 3090 XC3 and 5950x. Could get the 3090 so went with a 3080FE. Now, waiting for the 5950x. If I knew I would have to wait again, I would have stuck to my original plan.

Yeah, I imagine some parts are hard to find at the moment. If you already have a PC, the wait shouldn't be too bad as you can still play games.

Luckily I haven't had to deal with any parts shortages for any of my builds, but other than my 2070S, I haven't bought any PC parts in almost 4 years.

I got a 3080 within the week of release then it took my 1.5 months to build a working PC. got a dead PSU or mobo and I couldn't be assed to find out which one was the offender so I sent back both and ordered two different ones that took an extra week

Built my new 5800X build last week, but still using my 970 until my 3080 back order comes through. Who fucken knows how long it'll take at this point - there are still orders from LAUNCH day without an ETA.

I'm grateful that I can still play games, and I grabbed a PS5 and XSS without issue so I'm good for the meantime. But if I'm being honest, the 3080 is what I really want.

I hate changing out CPUs / Motherboards. Having to route all the PSU and fan cables neatly. I'm thinking my next build will be sata drive-less to at least tidy some of that up.

Going full modular is a blessing.

Only gonna have 3 cables in my case .

Yup. Waiting for parts is the worse.

I actually had ordered all my parts. But I had intended to go full custom water cooling and my old cpu cooler didn't fit. So waited nearly a full month to get my water cooling parts in. They all just sat around taking up a large amount of space because I couldn't do anything with it. Now just to actually do my build sometime this week

It's the worst right now. I decided early January to build a new PC this year, but I wanted to wait for the new releases this fall. The wait really sucked, only to be compounded by all the stock issues. I started buying some parts in August and September, and I luckily got a 5600x on launch day. I wanted a 3080, tried for a 6800XT, but just recently got a 3090 that's arriving tomorrow because it was available. At least it's still in time for Cyberpunk 2077.

Out of curiosity, where did you get your pre-built?

Built mine in June and PSU's were hard to find, don't think that's changing soon with new hardware released. It was build in June or build when the 5600x came out from a 2011 2500k system, glad I built when I did. I'm lucky I managed to snag a 750 watt unit, came in handy for the 3080.

Maybe next year.

I was planning on building with a TR 3960X and a 3090, but wanting to get the card first. Now I am likely waiting for the TR 5960X.

It's a pain. I have my case, PSU, and NVME drive. I'm waiting on a 5900x and 3080 before I get the ram as well. I expect I'll be waiting well into next year at this rate.

Yeah, PSU's have sucked. I was initially thinking about getting a Corsair SF750 in the spring when it had a price cut this spring to $160, but opted out. Then shortly after those sold through, Corsair issued a recall on that model. Any new units were be used for warranty tickets. When they started to become more common in the fall, it was at $50-100 markups on ebay. ShopBLT had (has???) a waiting list that kept getting pushed back by two weeks every couple of days.

It got so bad that I had to jump on one via Amazon germany. Thankfully I got it at a good price at about $183.16; new cord, taxes, and shipping included. Looking now, seems like the price is actually very similair to what it was when I got one! Anybody else trying to get an SF750 in NA should try that, be sure to use Amazon Global shipping - takes care of the import fee hassle.

I built it in April and just recently replaced the GPU with a 3080. I also don't think a 5900X is necessary for gaming.

It's why I decided to get a LG CX over a new PC for now. Trying to get parts without paying exorbitant prices around this time is such a pain. Plus I want to see the 3080 SFF builds mature a bit.

This is why I opted for a Ryzen 5 3600 and a Radeon RX 5600 XT back in September despite everybody telling me to "wait for October"

The parts were readily available, on sale even, and I had no problem purchasing them.

Buying some of the parts now during the Black Friday/Black Week sales but not a CPU or GPU in sight. My current PC is barely alive. My integrated GPU died recently. I am guessing my CPU is not far behind since they are in the same chip. Just need to hold on for a few weeks/months until I get CPU and GPU
