So.Cal.
Yeah, I know, a lot of people don't properly listen to albums in this age of streaming, but it's still my favorite method of consuming music, especially in my favorite genre, rock.

And 2017 was pretty strong for rock, especially compared to a relatively weak 2016.

Anyhoo, here are my 10 favorites, in no particular order...

Spoon - "Hot Thoughts"

Elder - Reflections of a Floating World

NIN - Add Violence

QOTSA - Villains

Metz - Strange Peace

Mogwai - Every Country's Sun

I don't really remember what new albums to me were released in 2017 after that.

I'm kind of obsessed with that new Sia Christmas album. That should be a shit post, but I'm mostly serious.

I also like the new LCD Soundsystem, Father John Misty, Nothing but Thieves, St Vincent, Royal Blood, and Beck. Don't really have an order. Oh and the new Mac DeMarco is great.

I also have to say I don't understand the love for that Kendick album. Humble is a good song and I pretty much can't listen to the rest of it.

1. BROCKHAMPTON - SATURATION 2
2. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
3. The War On Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
4. BROCKHAMPTON - SATURATION
5. SZA - CTRL
6. Mac DeMarco - This Old Dog
7. BROCKHAMPTON - SATURATION 3
8. J.I.D. - The Never Story
9. Rapsody - Laila's Wisdom
10. Fleet Foxes - Crack Up

As someone who's been over trap beats for a couple years now, Brockhampton is exactly what I was waiting for and they delivered non stop all year

Girlpool - Powerplant
Chastity Belt - I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone
Alvvays - Antisocialites
Diet Cig - Swear I'm Good at This
Japanese Breakfast - Soft Sounds from Another Planet

I got to watch Diet Cig at a concert last week and they were even better live.
