And it's exactly why I'm warry of lgbtq threads on era I hope the mods come in here soon just so folks knock it off.
I always thought gender neutral was better than gender specific for people that are non-binary or did I completely misunderstand the whole thing here?

The title of this thread says BDW embraces gender fluidity, links to an article in which BDW, in his own words, describes his identity as the definition of gender fluid.
What in the OP is wrong?
I know and it's fucking irritating. I'm not sure why in this case I just skimmed the OP when it's usually one of my own pet peeves. I'm pleasantly surprised by BDW's outlook here, dude is 82 years old.

context: billy d has been a beer salesman for a long time (recently reupp'd his contract), has been ribbed for it from og sw fans since forever, beer = a fluid, op's title includes 'fluidity'. would the joke have hit better if i wrote 'billy d moves from one fluid to another'?

Yeah this was really obvious if you actually read what he said. He's not explicitly identifying as lgbtq or something, he's just saying he doesn't feel the need to maintain a traditional macho masculinity

It's unfortunate that this reply, which is just an opinion that appears to be completely innocent, was worthy of a ban.
Oooph, this is why I stayed out of the thread. I thought he was angling towards inclusion, too, not so much him identifying as nonbinary. That said, his take is still excellent, both the original and his clarification.
The ban on the previous page seems a little odd after the clarification from Billy in the follow up article. I understand wanting to be clear and sensitive to the issue, but the posters interpretation seems to be correct. May have jumped the gun on that one.
An update to the op would probably help as well considering the original source felt he was misquoted or misunderstood.
I think it's understandable his initial comments were taken as being about gender fluidity; the author of the original article even claims he brought up gender fluidity with him.
