French Electronic duo, Justice, have announced their fourth album named HYPERDRAMA will release this year. This is their first album in 7+ years. Yes, Woman is already that old.

Socials seem to indicate the first single, a collaboration with Tame Impala titled "One Night/All Night", will drop later today. It's the track that can be heard in the above album title teaser.

Another untitled track was teased on New Year's Day:

Definitely seems like they're returning more to that "nighttime" production style of their first album. It's not full on Waters of Nazareth electronic crunch, or microsampling a la Genesis/Phantom, but I'm liking what I'm hearing.

Given we already have teases for two tracks and one is dropping today, I feel like the album will drop sooner rather than later. Maybe April or May at the latest, but that could be wishful thinking.

Couldn't see a thread for this so apologies if it already exists. Apologies for the Youtube shorts as well, that's the way Justice have decided to share these clips!

I hope they announce a tour as well, I would love to see them live.

Busy P did some interviews late last year and seemingly confirmed there would be a tour to coincide with the album:

www.nme.com

Busy P says new Justice album gave him "goosebumps" and compares it to 'Cross'

Pedro Winter – AKA Busy P – has shared that the upcoming Justice LP gave him "goosebumps" and compared it to their debut album 'Cross'.

Also said it gave him the same chills as when he first listened to Cross. I can only hope that's even remotely true.

Saw this in the theaters however long ago and then saw it appear on YT yesterday. Thought to myself, "huh I wonder what they are up to these days…" Now I know!

Supposedly, there's a bunch of tracks that sound like two songs segued into each other, with the first single being really ''rave-y" even though the snippets don't necessarily feel that way. Either way, this has been my most hoped for/anticipated album of the last two years and I can't wait- gimme a collab with The Weeknd with a video directed by So Me, and I'm in heaven.

Yesssss lets go baby

All indications point to this being a banger album. I can't believe it has been 8 years since their last one

I've seen the album cover (it got leaked but was quickly taken down) and it is BEAUTIFUL.
The one night/all night teaser previews it.

Also they're debuting their new live show at Coachella this year, can't wait to see it.

It is really great- looks like a combo between a Justice album and Tool album cover. Lateralus maybe?

a little bit, tbh it reminded me more of the Appetite For Destruction album cover

Like where the two samples are headed - less of the 80s prog and disco from Woman (and to an extent A,V,D), towards something darker sounding, akin to Cross.

I really enjoyed the first couple albums but I could not get into their last one at all. Hoping this is a return to their earlier form.

There are songs on it that I really ended up getting into, like Alakazam! and Love S.O.S., but it definitely didn't hit as hard as the previous ones did. The "Live" album fixed a lot of my complaints about those new songs, but it still is a far cry from Cross/AVD.

Justice are an interesting one for me. AVD was such a departure from Cross that I'll always be a little disappointed by it. I enjoy it on its own merits now but the hard turn into prog rock was an interesting choice.

I appreciated AVD way more after seeing their tour and listening to Access All Arenas. I think it recontextualised the album for me in the same way Alive 2007 made me appreciate some Human After All tracks for Daft Punk.

I actually really love the first half of Woman. Chorus and Randy I was mixed on. I actually really disliked Heavy Metal for a long time.

I'm still not super fond of it, gave me Human After All production vibes, but after it was featured in the trailer for the new Marathon game I relistened and decided it wasn't so bad. Maybe just didn't care for it on first listen.

Weirdly, I didn't like Woman Worldwide even slightly after the one time I listened to it. Felt like the clunkiest of their live albums. I should go back and reevaluate it too.

All this to say I'm liking the teases they've put out for Hyperdrama, it sounds VERY much like a return to the style of Cross, but I'll temper expectations because the rest of the album may not sound like that even slightly.

I was just about to come in here and say that I love every single one of Justice's album covers and am just as excited to see the cover as I am listening to the album. Haven't seen the leaks but coming in here and immediately seeing this post as my first unread got me quite excited.

Back home and waiting for this to go live. Had a look at the One Night/All Night teaser again and went frame by frame at the ending to see this:

Looks pretty great if this is along the lines of what we're getting.

AYOO! Didn't know they're coming back so soon, I thought they're on a break or something since Gaspard's solo record wasn't that far ago.

Very very cool track, feels like it transforms about three times over the course of the duration. Interested to see how the tone of the track holds up to the rest of the album!

Generator is way more in line with Cross than One Night/All Night is.

new single sounds like a Random Access Memories outtake.

It does sorta feel like Cross by way of Woman, but I'll always take whatever new Justice I can get. Even if One Night/All Night doesn't maybe hit the same highs, the production feels very lavish, similar to RAM like you say. Kevin Parker vocals always add a warm vibe to any song though.

Jumped into the premiere on YouTube and the video looking extremely like AI generated footage has really soured my first experience with the new song.
Will still listen to the new stuff, but as a first experience, not good in my book.
Sucks so much that even huge artists like Justice might still use this bs.

Eh?

There's a Director and a whole credits segment with CGI artists.

i had a quick search for the CGI artists in the credits, as well as the 'original artwork' credit.

original artwork is credited to tomas jumin, an installation artist that justice have worked with before.
cgi artists -
oscu - couldn't find
axonbody - artstation suggests no AI
morumotto - website/vimeo suggests no AI
sebastian kaulitzki - a cgi artist specialising in the human body/biology

i think we're thankfully safe with this one
