During a talk at Gamelab last week, Bethesda Game Studios' head honcho Todd Howard said, "Skyrim Switch has a big community that we haven't supported the way we'd like."

I followed this up with Todd Howard in an interview afterwards and asked what he meant. "They asked for mods," he replied, "they asked for Creation Club - 'When are we getting more stuff?'"

I asked what he was doing to rectify it. "Right now we're doing nothing," he said. "People, they're on other things. Our Switch group did Fallout Shelter ... and that's done really well. I'm surprised at how well it's done."

Then I asked: "Will you bring mods to Skyrim on Switch?"

"We are not actively doing that," he answered. "We would love to see it happen but it's not something we're actively doing."

Personally i'd rather take The Evil Within 1 and 2 over Skyrim mods, but that's just me.

Congrats for Fallout Shelter.

I honestly would have been surprised if mods were coming to Switch. Even if the risk of it leading to softmodding is low, I don't think Nintendo really would enjoy the idea of letting users run (externally made) community code on their console.

I'm surprised with the success of Skyrim they didn't port over Fallout 3. Maybe they plan to.

So he's basically just said they are failing their userbase with no plans to remedy it. Lol sounds about right.

I think they should bring official survival mode to Skyrim switch version.

It would make new play through much more interesting.

"We haven't supported Skyrim switch as much as we'd like"

"So are you doing anything about that"

"No."

"OK, Bye"

Then no follow on questions about if the game will receive any further patches and such. Great job EG.
I don't care about mods, but I'd like the game to not crash & soft-lock on switch as much as it does.

I mean I guess we have a little insight perhaps? Nintendo didn't actively say no to mods, they just didn't put the work in to make it even work. Hopeful for the future I guess, mods would be really cool for Switch.

I'm expecting a full price port of Fallout 3 when Fallout 76 goes out. Then a Fallout 4 port next year.

I really don't think Bethesda will ever do a remaster of Fallout 3. That game has aged very poorly, even compared to New Vegas. Just getting it running on a modern system without it crashing every 30 minutes is a struggle, and that's just the technical aspect. I'm sure porting the game without adding things like ironsights / sprinting and what else would make for a poor reception of the remaster as well, and I don't think Bethesda want to worry about working on a remaster when they have Fallout 76, Star Field, Elder Scrolls Blades, and ES6 all on the horizon, and all are probably more profitable prospects.

I am hooked to Fallout Shelter on the switch and I am thirsty for a Fallout port. I got TES, now I just want Fallout. Yes, I am port begging but that's why I play Fallout Shelter so often, because I am desperate for Fallout 4 and I miss that game so much but the only gaming option for me right now is a Switch.

If a Fallout 3 port would happen (baseless speculation AFAIK), that would come to PS4/Xbox One as well right?

I'd imagine they probably wish they'd done mods or creation club at launch but probably feel it's not worth bothering with now as by the time they'd be done they'll get in the way of blades and they'd rather people pumped time and money into blades instead of spending more time on skyrim

I have had hard discussions with some members who keep saying that 3rd parties dont invest money on switch because they dont see any return over investiment.

I keep saying that big companies are not managed based on profits only. There is bureaucracy ... lots of it.
What- what are you talking about. Bethesda has already supported the Switch (more than any other third party I might add). This question was just about bringing mods to Switch.

Mods huh. If they allow them, that could mean fixed bugs by community. I'd be finally able to buy the game on Switch.

"Our Switch group did Fallout Shelter ... and that's done really well. I'm surprised at how well it's done."

What I got from this is they have a permanent Switch team, and we know Panic Button did Wolfenstein and Doom (and likely anything upcoming related to these games such as Doom Eternal or the new Wolfenstein DLC), so this tells me this internal Bethesda Switch team so far have done Fallout Shelter and Skyrim? Which should theoretically mean this "Switch Group" has been on something else since Fallout Shelter launched. With both those games doing pretty well and Todd being happy about Switch it seems unlikely that it would have closed. Add that to the fact they're surprised how well Shelter did, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if something else Fallout related comes soon. Whether that's, 3, 4, 76 or something older who knows. I know there's a lot of reading between the lines here and I could be wrong but that's what I saw lmao.

Since Todd has said they aren't currently doing anything with 3, I think 4 is a no brainer, especially since they now have experience porting Skyrim and it runs on the same engine.

I would love mods for Switch Skyline, and a brightness slider. I'm thinking Bethesda thought they were going to do okay in terms of sales, but not as well as they have done.

I've actually been having a blast with Shelter on the Switch, it's the perfect balance for the game. I played it back at launch on mobile and hit the wall pretty quick. It's come a fairly long way since then, all the quests and exploring make it feel more...Fallout'y. The Switch's portability means I can pop on it whilst the TV's on for example, but it's not coming everywhere with me spamming notifications to bring me back.

Skyrim was done by iron galaxy, looks like the performance of skyrim and doom was good enough for them to maybe start an internal switch team

They could be working on elder scrolls blades.

Agreed. Quests have done so much for that game
