My favorite game of 2016. Love the series, and I thought it was a brilliant effort, especially for such a short (relatively speaking) development time.

Thats fantastic to hear, I do hope it means we'll see a lot more out of the franchise, even if its after a few Spiderman titles.

Too bad the king will lose his crown in just a few months.

But really, good job to Insomniac. The game was great and deserved all the success it earned.

Congrats to Insomniac, they brought me years of pleasure when it comes to games. Too bad this was my least favorite R&C game and a big disappointment for me. Here's hoping they go back to the old style of R&C games.

And people really thought it was a failure??? I told yall

We're gonna have an R&C 2 based on this reboot in no time
But that would mean we wouldn't get a game that takes place after Into the Nexus :-(
I just want to see what they're up to next. It's been over four years already.

Even God of War did not do 5 million in a week. Spidey has no chance.
That's assuming spiderman can't do better than god of war. One is M rated game familiar with gamers another is Teen rated familiar with the whole world. If god of war can do 3.1 million in 3 days then spiderman can do 5 million in a week.
All of this assuming it reviews very well though.

Spider-Man will outsell God of War easily, handily, and quickly - and it truly blows my mind that anyone imagines differently.
We're talking about the single most beloved Marvel character, in a world where Marvel movies are massive. Starring in a high quality open-world action game that will have all-ages appeal and which will likely be met with as much critical acclaim as God of War was.
God of War's success has no bearing on how well Spider-Man will perform, Spider-Man is bigger than God of War.

No one is saying that. Of course Spider-Man will likey outsell God of War, it's just not selling 5 million copies in one week on one console.

Well deserved! Ratchet & Clank was awesome. It was one of those games where I never once felt frustrated or disappointed, not even for a tiny bit. It was all fun, fun, fun. The progression was also incredibly satisfying with upgrades, various new weapons, maxed-out weapons, and so on and so forth.

It was more than enough to give me faith that Spider-Man is in amazing hands. Couldn't be more excited for September!

I'm so glad to hear that, as it is easily one of my favorite franchises of all time. Here's hoping for even greater success for the series in the future!

That's great news. I hope that means we'll get another Ratchet and Clank game in the future? Definitely think people still want them. Would love to see a new, ambitious Ratchet and Clank title. Bring the multiplayer back perhaps?

Congrats to Insomniac, now does that mean we'll be seeing a new Ratchet game in the future? I sure hope so.

And this was a game made in 10 months.

I'm curious to see how the next one does with an actual development cycle.

Woah, I had no clue. Impressive!

That is actually extremely impressive. I would have never knew. Just goes to show you the incredible talent at Insomniac even despite the flaws I think the game had with its writing (also being based off the movie) and I still thought it was very good. Now it makes much more sense.

R&C games in general tend to be made with relatively small production cycles/resources when compared to other AAA games. Tools of Destuction had about a year and Crack in Time was shorter than that. I've been itching to see what they can do with a bigger budget R&C for a while now.

Weird that this was announced during a forum argument. I loved Ratchet PS4, it's one of those games that you can automatically recommend to everyone.

Did he ever specify what he meant by most sucessful? Highest selling or highest return on investment?

Nah, he didn't specify beyond that. If anything, he probably thinks he said too much lol.

If I had to guess, I would say highest selling and highest return.

I'll never forget jstevenson's top-gear gif that npd. I was so happy for em.

Spider-Man is gonna blow everything else out of the water, in terms of successes at insomniac. I hope they are ready!

Nope, it sold really well. Nice try though.

Or, you can take what I said about it being a 'packin' and move on and not try to get defensive about something I never said in that quote. Nice try though.

Why do people always have to rush to bundling as an explanation every time a game does well? Its such a lazy rhetoric.

It did well because it's a good game, in a popular series, sold at a cheap price on the best-selling console. It's not rocket science this.

I never said. I said I think the number of how much it sold is partly because it was offered as part of bundles and packins. I didn't deride the game in that quote.

One of the few games that I decided to platinum. It's a beautiful game and a ton of fun just like every other game in the series. The story and the characters definitely lacked the same edge as the original but it was still a wonderful nostalgia trip and the gameplay was as good as it's ever been.

Truly surprised and a little disappointed they didn't remastered the Future series for PS4, those games were so good(especially A Crack in Time) that I think they would have sold pretty well following the Success of the 2016 Remake.

Enjoyed every bit on the way to platinum. Congrats, but I have a feeling that title won't last long;)

I'm sad to say the only R&C game I've played since the first three on PS2 was Quest For Booty. But I was three years late to the party on PS3 and had to keep playing catch up. I own Into The Nexus, I should get around to playing it. But I agree, Spiderman seems poised to become their most successful title. The property is in an upswing (pun stumbled upon by accident), the E3 reaction was strong, and it has a huge userbase to sell to.

I'm glad it was successful, I just don't feel it quite surpasses UYA yet for me though. Its probably nostalgia on my part though. I think they can do it if given sufficient time and budget though. Then again UYA is also a game where there are segments where I'm forced to play as Clank. I hate playing as Clank. No matter how you dress it up... I just don't want to play as Clank...ever. Its the same thing where I hate that Banjo Tooie introduced playing banjo and kazooie seperately... nope hated the shit out of that too and dropped the game after a while.

Happy for Insomniac for the inside milestone, a R&C game deserved it, at least until Spider-Man starts breaking a few records

Though, I wish that one of the more ambitious R&C games was holding that crown
