I have been away from this game since around February and I was wondering if it was worth coming back to. I bought the season pass so I already have Warmind. I'm looking for a good loot game to play while listening to podcasts or watching a show I was thinking of either coming back to this or playing Warframe or Path of Exile and I was just wanting some opinions on the state of the game right now.

It is still and always will be absolutely stupid that certain events don't have matchmaking. I have been trying for half an hour with all the LFG sites and the companion app to find a group and nothing works.

I haven't seen anyone use this in their loadout after getting it.

All my PVP buddies who have it envy me for not caring to get it when they did, thought they wasted their time and they wouldn't even put it in their top 20 weapons to use. It's a good weapon but it's not great. As far as PVE, nothing is going to get me to unequip devils if I am playing serious.

is actually life.

Currently grinding hard to get it and Motion to Compel high impact scout with kill clip & drop mag. ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ give high impact scout buff bungo ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ I'm at rank 8.5. 3 more Flawless tickets to get to rank 15.

And then once the Comp changes it, it's on to the Claymore grind.

I don't even have anything to "chase" this week in Crucible and playing more Crucible is all I can think about...

What were they right about?

What are they guessing on now?
Destiny Reddit was very much in love with Destiny. Early on they identified that D2 was shitty despite it getting much better review scores than D1. They also called out Eververse and the slot machine that is The Tower. To imply that Reddit has been unfair to Destiny or Bungie is just persecution complex nonsense.

Any advice for someone jumping back in to the game for first time since release? Best way to increase light? Best place to quickly find a group for raids?

I beat the first raid once and then shelved the game but I think I'm ready to jump back in as some of the new content seems cool.

Blues and normal purple until you reach the softcap 340 PL.

After that weekly milestone for Powerful Engram and Raiding (I don't Raid, but afaik each Raid encounter drops Powerful Gears, so Raid should be the fastest way to increase your PL) will be your main source of increasing PL

Heroic Strikes can drop gears up to 360 PL.

Weapon reward from second mission Warmind (haven't done Curse Of Osiris yet, so can't comment on that) are considered Powerful Gear.

Hive Escalation Protocol final level chest also drops Powerful Gear (note that HEP enemies goes up to 385 PL, you can be lucky and instanced with 385 players though).

For groups - Discord, destiny app, destinylfg, the100.io, etc
For increasing Power level - get to soft cap with blues, then milestones + raids.

This is relatively decent time to get back - content wise you'll have some quests and exotics to chase, new strikes, 2 raid lairs, Escalation Protocol, exotic catalysts, and so on..

Sweet, congrats. The boss this week drops all the guns, so you can find groups and farm it till you get them. Should be plenty of groups around on various lfg sites since it's an easy farm week. Keep a lookout at discord LFG channel for groups as well.

No, it's definitely not.

And as it is from someone consistently negative about Destiny in any thread that pops up, not without bias.

that's funny, considering a persecution complex is what drives the incessant destiny rage machine. people who spend hundreds of hours on a game they clearly enjoy love nothing more than complaining about how much bungie is trying to screw them.

Yeah no that's not how that works. Bungie isn't in full-on Save Destiny mode because players imagined that D2 was awful.

Time locked skill tree.

It's a good move imo and idk why people are upset.

Giving 1 new super/tree each week (per class) makes a lot of sense - you play exclusively with that subclass for that week and get used to it, and learn its usability in various scenarios.

Then next week you have 3 more to experiment with, and the same the week after. It's a great plan to keep things fresh for the first couple of weeks.

it's so awful that they can't stop playing it and talking about.

destiny 2 was kind of lifeless at the start, and a lot of people got burned out. it has improved greatly since then, and looks to be improving even more with forsaken. instead of being excited and happy about this, people will just find new ways to complain and be miserable.

Count me as one of the people that doesn't have an issue with not getting all the new skill trees at once. I also find it strange that people complained about not having enough to work towards/keep them interested have an issue with having things be slowly added so they can't burn through it as fast as possible. /shrug

Yeah, this. I think they want people to feel like they can full dive on the tree for a week or so, then full dive on the next one the next week, sort of give them all a 'fair chance' at being explored.

Not all time locking is bad. It can work if it helps explore the content and/or links into community accomplishments/lore.

You regress to the only behaviour you know, like a safety blanket

There seems to be this histrionics and rose-tinted rewriting of history when it comes to Destiny 1. Which to this day baffles me, as I remember nothing but non-stop complaints.

I guess I'll go for Sweet Business catalyst if I have to.

Because there are better solutions.

Like, I don't know...make the supers and skill trees QUESTS. That would be more meaningful, give us something to do, something to earn, and a chance to introduce new lore in the game. Taken King did exactly just that with the new subclasses. Why not something similar here?

It's lazy. It's pointless. It's padding and streching out new features, which is just bizarre. Usually it's content, like activities or loot. You're making excuses and justifying Bungie's piss poor, nonsensical judgement.

What kind of attitude is this? They haven't even specified how the new skill trees and supers will be allocated or unlocked. All they did was mention that maybe we won't get access to all 9 straight away.

People just need any excuse to take jabs at the devs.

Taken king only introduced 3 new supers, one for each class.

Handling 9 new supers on the same manner....?

To be fair Bungie has tried their damnedest to piss away any benefit of the doubt with Destiny 2.

Warmind is an improvement, but they've got a long way to go.

This is why Bungue needs to eliminate ambiguity and stop being obtuse. Just be straight forward. "Hey, this is how X thing works". Period. Either let us know how things function or simply say, "We'll explain how you'll unlock your new abilities at a future date". It's really not difficult.

Their method of communication is terrible and always has been. They give these half assed, piecemeal non-answers that create more questions and anxiety. All we know, based on the info we have, is that new abilities are kinda, sorta, time gated...maybe.

If that's the end result, it's a poor decision. Content, as in loot I earn or the places in which I play in, I understand. But features, as in stuff that effects HOW I play the game, shouldn't be arbitrarily held back, especially, when in the past, things like new abilities were implemented in game as quests.

I did it because I'm insane and want all three Faction master works.
But...IS IT WORF???

If so I'll go get it too. I do the whole grind including the masterwork in a day because I'm a fuckin monster.

Like, does the anti-flinch make it better? Do you find yourself actually using Sweet Business?

I ask because I haven't used Sweet Business on purpose since...eh...maybe late November. Trying to find out if I should seriously revisit it or not. If not, I'll save that 10 hours of grinding, you know? But if you say it's worth it I'll go ham next rally.

No, it's not really worth it at all. Beyond just having it, nope.

A group for what, specifically . . . ?
I was trying to do Nightfall. I ended up using Guided Games which worked but had a long queue time. I can maybe understand Raids not having normal matchmaking, but Nightfall is not so difficult that it shouldn't. Hell, if Heroic Strikes have matchmaking there is absolutely no reason for anything else that's not a Raid to not have it. And even with the Raids, I think there's a better solution than shoving people off to the side with the Guided Games feature.

By the way, my hostility wasn't aimed at you. In fact, it's never aimed at anyone ever. The notion of time gated abilities is merely a small blemish on what is otherwise a fanstastic expansion to the game. It's just irritating seeing Bungie continuously take steps foward and take a few back, time and time again.

The quickest way to start a nightfall with randoms is to fire up the Destiny app, click Fireteams, click open fireteams and then just select Nightfall, 2 team members and then click invite when two randos join. Just make sure you're in orbit when you hit the invite button.

Really? What time of day? Any time I start one it fills almost immediately (east coast US). Do you mean they dont join the party in the app or get invited into the actual game?
People would join the Fireteam in the app but when I hit invite no one ever showed up in game. It's possible that I was doing something wrong, or I have some privacy setting turned on in my PSN account or something, I don't know. I'll have to try it again. (Also I'm running the iOS 12 beta on my phone and I don't know if that might have something to do with it.)

Any time I use any LFG service, I just tell people to message or party chat invite on PSN. Makes things fast and simple.

When you click Invite, does it have you log into XBL or PSN and then give you a message that you were successful? Are you able to transfer gear between characters using the app?
