well folks, Era's wrong again
???
That new SKU will silently replace the old one. As far as appearance and performance there is nothing different.
Only Pokemon Quest was a new game, right? It's amazing that so many people are apparently picking up a Switch off of it being a machine full of ports.
Well... They are the developers...
It's marketing. Pokémon go plus set in johto hardly fits the bill for what I'd consider a mainline game.
Do you not consider the remakes mainline games either? The average pokemon buyer likely cares more about this than other recent pokemon games so this is probably a very niche opinionIt's marketing. Pokémon go plus set in johto hardly fits the bill for what I'd consider a mainline game.
Part of the reasoning. The other part is from the e3 hype. Plus, that trade in deal lasted less than a week. And was kind of stealth dropped so a lot of people probably didn't even know about it. E3 hype plus trade in deal resulted in monster sales at Gamestop.Of course they count, but I'm just explaining the reasoning behind the sales increase. People are assuming it's because of e3 hype, but actually GameStop had a great deal that week. We see that sometimes on old games that get big price drops and re-enter the npd charts.

The remakes keep game mechanics, they don't take away most of the gameplayDo you not consider the remakes mainline games either? The average pokemon buyer likely cares more about this than other recent pokemon games so this is probably a very niche opinion
Sure bud. You know better than the people making the games. It's marketing. Pokémon go plus set in johto hardly fits the bill for what I'd consider a mainline game.
Amazing how many people on this forum don't realize that consoles typically sell their best in their fourth and fifth years. It hasn't been "winning" NPDs so people think it's now struggling. Even though it's still selling quite well, especially when you compare year 2 sales of the other consoles.
It's selling fine, and it will sell a lot of units this year, but Nintendo has very high expectations and there are now doubts that they can meet them.

The post you quoted is straight up facts. And there's the e3 demo backing it up.
I never understand why people say Switch has no game this holiday when it has Pokemon and Smash Bros, arguably even bigger (sale-wise) than Mario and Zelda from last year. These two games are the most mainstream of Nintendo franchise, way more than your Zelda Metroid DonkeyKong etc.

I mean you can have a poor E3 showing and still perform well. The two aren't mutually exclusive. 2017 was pretty abysmal for Sony, but the PS4 clearly wasn't affected by it.
Anecdotal, but I have heard most of my causal game friends who own PS4s and what not say they want a switch post E3. They keep saying they've kinda wanted one and this smash is the one they want to jump in on. Seems like smash was the tipping point for them on the sideline and maybe many others feel the same?
fixed /s
I mean, the bestselling game this gen is a port of GTA5, so it's not like that this is a phenomenon that actually hurts a console.Only Pokemon Quest was a new game, right? It's amazing that so many people are apparently picking up a Switch off of it being a machine full of ports.

porque no los dos?
Do people ITT really believe that GameStop doesn't sell a lot of consoles for a 100% increase to be notable or am I being punk'd?

If only...sure
they could have also had a good E3 showing, performed well, and still had people on the internet who were unimpressed
I remember when GameStop said the Switch had one of the best launches in the last few years, and everyone was like "lol Gamestop, nothing launched in the last few years"
Then came NPD and the Switch had the 2nd best launch of all time...
I don't think it'll do super amazing by any means in June, but my point is that GameStop (biggest videogames retailer in the US?) probably knows what they're talking about. At least knows more than most of us.
You know what's fact? The makers of the game saying it's mainline. The post you quoted is straight up facts. And there's the e3 demo backing it up.
Everything saw substantial increases in hardware performance the 2 weeks surrounding E3.
Switch did very well yes.
Which amounts to nothing. Good stuff. You know what's fact? The makers of the game saying it's mainline.
So basically all consoles receive a summer bump. Likely from kids/colleges being out of school. Using that summer job moneyI think it's more of an indication that the effect of a "good" or "bad" E3 is rather marginal. The pre-E3 slump and post-E3 boost are always there. No matter the quality of the announcement. What can amplify said boost are post E3 price drops or bundles. Like, Xbox One doubled sales from May -> June 2015, and i don't recall MS E3 2015 having been all that bombastic. They even focused some of their time on HoloLens!
Again, to clarify, i'm saying the Switch is simply experiencing its regular May -> June boost. Combined with it being in its 2nd full year, you see this big increase, regardless of a lackluster E3 presentation.
Even if they had announced Zelda, Mario and Metroid related content ("won E3"), i don't think the sales bump would have been much larger.

They are the ones making the game. If they say it's mainline then it's mainline. You don't make the rules for this.
