Looks like a game that will be fun for Destiny fans. Nice graphics and world. I will pick it up when it gets added to Origin Access because february will be Metro Exodus's month.

But seriously, is this actually a loot game? I've seen 1 loot drop so far in all their reveals and it was the very first one. I feel a game like this won't do very well if it isn't raining loot on you, especially with all the inspiration it's getting from Destiny/Division.

The extreme lack of information on this topic is really concerning to me.

They did manage to impress people at e3 with the moment to moment gameplay.

But how the game actually works they've touched on not at all and it is kind of weird.

They've spent like 10x as long talking about what is 100% gonna be a throw-away story instead of talking about their endgame and loot stuff.

That Spider boss and whole thing was a Destiny Strike in comparison

Remove 1/3rd health, boss runs away or adds come roaring in for it usual refill you and you repeat
I'm guessing by the 2 bars, the second half of its health the spider either changes up itself to be more dodge and protecting itself, rather than be all balls to the wall at the start of the fight

There's s potential!

I love how they're called damage floaties.

ooooo level scaling apparently rewatching it. 3 members were level 30 and one player was level 1..........very cool. Thats one way to not gate off some of the content.

You cant deny that Frostbite is an amazing engine. Gameplay aside this will look amazing with HDR. Cant wait to see how next gen and Frostbite will look. Its the Division, Mass Effect and TitanFall mixed together?

Gameplay continues to look and sound amazing.

Now they need to focus on questions like how loot and progression work, some more story details and how the gameplay loop works within the context of the story. Hopefully things work-out. This could be the first Destiny-like that tells a decent tale.

They talked about the loot (6 different levels of loot) on the devs twitter account. I don't believe this demo is accurate as to how it will work. They said that drops will be the main way to get more loot.

I see, I missed that one. Still not exactly a whole lot of info, especially with how you actually get good loot, or how it fits into the endgame. It's just worrying not knowing this stuff so close to launch.

Loot drops and you take them back to base to decode. Sounds similar to Destiny. Expecting to see various item slots with varies rarities, style etc.

I think the base game itself actually looks promising but every time I watch a video it feels like Bioware is getting in their own way with the presentation. The giant floating numbers are horrific, but fair enough I can turn those off I'm sure. A bigger problem is I can already tell I'm not going to be able to stand Owen. Hopefully he talks way, WAY less in the actual game because some of those lines like "well the good news is this definitely qualifies for hazard pay!" really took me out of the moment. Who would talk like that in that situation?

Like, oh mi gawd you guys, we have to get those relics from the anthem of creation to silence the zephyr spirit from his disruptive vibrations!! melt down the onyx sphere immediately with your shards of nephelium!!!
If you don't silence the anthem of creation the netherspheres will disrupt our regenerative chambers, and the shard of elorium will fade from the tipherium core !!!!!

I see what you're doing, and I like it.

The game looks great but I got burned by Destiny so I'm really cautious about getting into another MMO-type co-op shooter.

yeah, still not doing anything for me. I'm sure I'll get suckered into it by some friends for some co-op play unless something better comes out (maybe Division 2?).

Right now though, nothing in these videos really grabs me.

That's good to know, did not see this info. thanks.

I hope they eventually go more in depth about it and the endgame.

Level scaling was my biggest takeaway from this. The lack of that or any raid matchmaking in Destiny 1/2 killed my long-term interest in the games. It sucks to have friends that surpass your level due to more free time. It also sucks to just have those friends run you through missions while they just obliterate all the enemies and you have nothing to do.

Perfect. I want floaties on because it'll help figuring out the Combo system, but making them smaller and less pague will be just what I want.

Additionally, I noticed when they were selecting the mission "Scars and Villainy" they also had a Difficult: Normal section underneath. Harder difficulties for missions to get better rewards seems like a given.

It's weird.

It looks good and dull at the same time

It's lacking a hook for that long-term grind

Damn this looks so good. Loving the look of the world even with them consistently showing the same area. The exploration looks like it'll be really satisfying. That one area appears to be humongous in itself. The effects will shine on the X in HDR. Whew I cannot wait. Ready to customize my mech.

They did talk a bit about that last one. You have a town (a la The Citadel) and a strider (a la The Normandy) that are entirely instanced to you, and change based upon your choices. This is where all the dialog trees and non-radio based NPC interaction comes from. Characters can come and go or actual town geometry can change based upon decisions, so those parts are singleplayer only. You go into one of those two between missions to do interactive story stuff.

The gameplay segments are all in the open world/dungeons/etc and are shared.

Mind, the more granular specifics still aren't explained.

In a shooting game, the shooting needs to look fun and engaging to me, which is why I enjoyed Destiny so much.

I'm not going to put all the blame here on Anthem being a TPS, but the shooting mechanics from what has been shown do absolutely nothing for me. The rest of the game looks really damn cool though, but I ultimately need to play it for myself to hopefully change my opinion on what looks to be boring combat/shooting.

Most noticeable thing here vs other MMO action games is the scale. I really think the verticality will add a lot. It's just much bigger than the Division and Destiny. Easy to traverse as well. BioWare does better than Bungie in the story department. Gunplay looks decent. Visuals and particle effects look great. In general so prefer TPS > FPS, so I'll be definitely hopping on this.

I think Destiny and Division have shown us that coop GaaS games like these just arent as interesting as single player games like TLOU, GoW, and Witcher 3. it's all so boring and predictable. I mean i enjoyed the gunplay and love that it's mass effect meets destiny, but the coop stuff just does nothing for me anymore. all i was thinking while watching this was 'how many times am i going to be running this strike over and over again?' would it be fun to play with randos? is it going to be fun when i play it for the 10th time in a week? Is it going to be challenging? the demo was super easy with no real A.I on display here other than the final boss doing some bossy attacks.

Destiny works so well because of the enemy a.i putting up a good fight. i didnt see that here. and even with Destiny, it got boring by the time Destiny 2 came out and they didnt add any new enemies. Division was boring from day 1.

This will be the first game of its kind I check out. I'm honestly not sure if it would be on my radar if it weren't from BioWare but I have never been let down by their narrative ambitions (well, DA2 and MEA were half-measures, but still) and I'm interested to experience something their writers have cobbled together in this genre. I don't expect it to be as in-depth as I "demand" from DA4, but it should help tide me over nevertheless.

The environments look lovely as ever. Frostbite has some hurdles, as any BioWare fan knows, but there's no denying it's truly gorgeous.

All these Destiny comparisons are turning me away from this game. I usually love Bioware games. Didn't like Destiny at all. And this is looking worse the more I see and hear.

Looks good, aside from the Colossus class which isn't doing much for me. It's too slow and lumbering.

I need to know how differently you can spec your javelins and what it does for gameplay. Someone likened it to Mass Effect multiplayer, so I wanna see some really quirky stuff that turns gameplay on its head.

Yeah i do sorta wish you could go into first person view, aim down sights whenever you wanted. Would give you a more up-close and personal connection with your weapon and some cool "bullet effects" etc. If you were able to make the left trigger "ADS" upon hold.. it would be even better IMO.

Not really feeling it.

It would probably be for the best if they got an open beta out there like Bungie did with the first Destiny.

Yeah, looks so damn boring, ugh. I want a proper epic Bioware RPG, not Destiny 2.0. I hate the progression towards GAAS, too. I miss the days of complete games. Not everything in this industry has to be GAAS, ugh.

Looks really good visually. Looks like the combat is less satisfying than a game like Destiny unless you're really into slower mech combat (I realize there are different classes and that my mind could change). Just like Destiny, I feel like they might have the pacing wrong. Loot games shouldn't have so many transitions; there should be a trance-y grind that lets you just get into a rhythm and lose yourself in it. I get that it's more story heavy than a pure loot game like Diablo or PoE, but it's just not my thing when it comes to replayability. Loot grinds are only boring if the action pacing is off.
