As I've gotten older (soon 31) I've found rumble is annoying in most games.
I think it was Rocket League that finally made me realise that it's mostly annoying, and doesn't add to immersion at all.
I think it even hindered me technically to some degree, but this can not be proven as still bad.

Even if you enjoy rumble, have you tried disabling it for some time? Do you miss it?

Nope, I leave it on. Most times I don't even think I notice it, which I guess is a good thing. Immerses me without pulling me out of the game if it was implemented poorly.

I'm the same, have it off in PS4 options.

I find it extremely annoying, especially in cutscenes with explosions and stuff where the vibration is out of control. I just can't see the point of it, adds nothing to the game overall for me.

I leave it on, but I do agree that it adds virtually nothing to the experience. Maybe I'll turn it off since it affects battery life.

Only to save battery power. I really should buy rechargeables then I might turn it back on.

Always. Haven't had it on for over 10 years now.

It was forza 2 that made me turn it off. Constant rumbles whenever you go over the curbs on the exits of corners.

I don't think it's about immersion. Sometimes it just feels good. Good rumbles when you shoot feels right.
Or good rumbles when you open a door in Octopath !
When I was a kid I didn't liked rumble. Now I love it. I'm like your opposition lol.

Every now and then, depends on the game. I turn it off in shooters so it doesn't affect my aim. I also turn it off when there are obvious issues with the game itself and random rumbles.

I disable it on every platform and always have. Don't really see the appeal.

In certain games I have disabled it if I felt it was too constant or if it's the type of game that likes to use rumble in cutscenes where it sounds like the world's ending when it vibrates on a surface.

I can take or leave it really. There was a time it seemed to stop working a lot for me on PC and I never cared enough to attempt a fix.

I was actually thinking the other day how much I enjoy good rumble. Can make things feel more visceral and satisfying.

I disable it on shooters and sports games, MLB The Show especially. Don't like my DS4 rumbling when I'm trying to paint the black.

its not weird to disable it since its so fucking annoying. it adds nothing to "immersion" and does jack shit for me. a little buzzing in your hand and just wastes battery? yeah, SO GOOD.

Now that I think about it, I have never turned off the rumble in any game I've played. It never really distracts me and I find most developers implement it pretty well.

Have anyone tested how much longer the DS4 battery lasts with and without rumble? It should be quite noticeable.

Is the Xbox controller rumble better than that of the DS4?

I have rumble disabled on my Switch because it's shit. I don't care whether it's HD or whatever, it's fucking noisy and annoying.

Leave it on my other controllers though.

Edit: incidentally, and bizarrely, the best rumble I have experienced is on that Bloodstained Curse of the Moon game on XBO. For some reason they've just nailed the rumble on that game to make the combat feel really satisfying - it uses the XBO rumble triggers really well.

I've done this when I've played games with my infant daughter sleeping in my lap. The tv volume could be cranked, and she'd sleep through it. But the rattle of a controller startles her every time.

I do disable normally. It is pretty worthless in most cases. Its a Nintendo gimmick from the late 90s.

Blame Starfox 64

I have problems with one of my wrists so if the rumble is too strong then I will feel discomfort. The more powerful rumble in the Xbox One and Switch controllers can get pretty bad for me. The DS4 is weaker so it's not an issue most of the time but I still turn it off if it's frequent. The only game where it was a major issue was Forza 5 since rumble is very strong in that one and it couldn't be turned off.

Isnt that a system wide option for xbox?

I can see how it can be bothersome too people or distracting, but I actually love it! It feels weird when rumble isn't on for me personally.

I can't believe how much of a difference it makes. Going from the original PS3 controller back to one where they finally put rumble back in was the difference between night and day.

I love it but hate it on the switch in handheld mode. It's so fucking loud that I can hear the rumble through my earpieces.

Not weird at all. I can't stand rumble.

Hate it so much in fact that I opened up all my DualShock 2,3, and 4 controllers over the years and completely removed them.

You also get the benefit of them being a lot lighter too.

I like haptic vibrations like in the Switch and Steam controller, but the old fashioned bubbly low quaking rumble is bad, I do not like it. It only serves to annoy me and take me out of the game

Depends on how strong it is. Sometimes it vibrates like crazy which then hits my wedding ring and wakes my wife up.

I generally leave it enabled, but I definitely noticed I can play some games better with it off (CoD comes to mind).

Yes. I only want to hear game sound when I play games and is really annoying to hear random rumbling sound from your controller when you are playing, so I turn it off.

PS4 has the worst controller battery life ever, so I disabled everything I could to save on life. Shame because I could go what seemed like weeks without charging my ps3 controller.

I uh... don't even notice rumble anymore, to be honest. Unless it's super annoying/loud (very rare), at which point I typically just turn it down if the game allows.

I disabled the vibration/rumble feature via the console first and foremost. In games, I always turn it off just to make sure. Never liked the controller vibrating and never will.
