Why is this thread so dead this year =/

I may sell Donaldson and pick up Kris Bryant, keep Justin Turner at shortstop for now and see how he does, if he sucks I can get Correa or Lindor

Edit - Forgot how annoying/stressful it is selling diamonds who aren't having a good season, people kept dropping the price but I finally got him sold for a decent amount.........now watch the price shoot up again

I thought about getting Syndergaard earlier when he was 40k........he has gone up a lot too

Gonna get Severino instead

Stanton's price seems to be dropping lol, his PCI must be puny now

lol....Gallo as a post game reward........

Gonna be tough adjusting to the changes

First impressions five games into the event, the game is finally out of beta. The PCI responsiveness is a night and day difference. Fastballs are finally usable though still slower than they should be. Strikeouts finally exist in h2h.

I want that Gagne

Creating a lineup for this event was a pain, won 6 games tonight, always awesome when you lead off with a homerun and the other team quits

I pop out and ground out a shit ton in this game, is that a result of the bigger PCI? Will this patch decrease that?

The PCI change is so good, I feel way more in control now. I might strike out a bit more but I actually feel like I can make adjustments to prevent that from happening.

I still see alot of complaints, especially those complaining they can't hit on shownation, but making the pci smaller and pitch speed faster was absolutely necessary.

Can't hit since the crazy patch that made the pci sensitive. just lost 3-2 in a 20 inning game. I only scored because wild pitches.

But I have a monitor, and kontrol freeks, and everything. bbut this patch ruined me. Like I puled bryant 2 weeks ago and I'm batting .168 with him.

Perhaps I'm gonna switch to directional. Legit might just have lost my reflexes.

Hey community, I haven't played since '16 and am not particularly a big baseball fan. I do however like to play around just as a pitcher. How is that this year? Is it much improved?

Was hoping for it in this flash sale since I want to get Vampyr as well. Is it worth full price?

It's a good, yet flawed game just like it is every year. I can't speak to RTTS as I rarely play it but DD is still addicting. I'd wait until the all-star break, there will probably be a bundle and the price will be slashed.

I've been knocking out positional programs

Need 2h, 1dbl, 2rbi with vargas and in one game I get he hits and rbi but not a double, next game I hit 4 doubles but only 1rbi because the batter ahead of him kept hitting homers haha

Another mission I need 1 more rbi and it's top of the 9th with no one on and I hit an inside the park homerun with a 26 speed player, gotta love when Rockies outfielders dive and miss short fly balls

This all may not matter because I don't think I'll be able to afford immortals, the exchange requirements are so damn steep

Was chasing the last missions for both Molitor and Utley for over 300 at bats each... finally got both done in the same game. Omg such relief.

New career arcs have been announced and there is a developer stream on Twitch at 5PM Eastern tonight

I made a spreadsheet of all the souvenirs I have, if they allow all souvenirs to count towards the exchanges I may be able to do a bunch of them without spending many stubs...........the immortal exchanges on the other hand are going to take some work :|

I'd like to do Alomar because he is one of my favourite players of all time, Belle because of Babe Ruth, Bench because I also have Carter done and Piazza may be doable, whichever pitcher combines with Sutton and then I'll see what is left

Or just sell all the souvenirs and get more LS diamond players

Yeah I just finished all the career arcs except Utley because of the prices, but now they've gone up even more -_- Will probably take me a few months to finish these as well.
Immortal missions I've unlocked 50% on all except Griffey because that one is a nightmare. I'd expect to see a few all immortal lineups by August

I think SDS will release souvenir packs or something, I wish they'd make the immortal exchanges accept all kinds of souvenirs but that wouldn't be fair to people who already completed them

Jersey and hats are going to keep going up

Yeah those are some serious grinds + all the souvenirs needed. Man well hopefully I can land a few of them in a couple months.

These should have been the original arcs lol, sds probably freaked out at how fast some people got them done

I hope they scrap immortals for next year and focus on hitting lol

I feel like it's a netcode issue. The game is near perfect offline but it's a mixed bag online depending on the connection I run into. I'd really like to see some true dedicated servers or show the ping of my opponent when we connect so I can back out.

How good is Utley? Might as well blow some souvenirs

I also just pulled Lindor and already have Correa so I should maybe sell one of them or both of them and get Machado?

Or put Lindor at 2nd instead of diamond Dozier

It's weird actually having pack luck this year and spare stubs :)

Only tried the gold Utley and I couldn't do much with him. Most of what I've seen on the subreddit is Machado is top 3 in fielding but he's tough to hit with. Correa/Lindor/Dozier comes down to preference but I liked Dozier the best at the plate. I prefer Correa over Lindor, can't hit with him for whatever reason even after the upgrade.

I'm still using 88 Hanley at SS/lead-off. Brandon Phillips experiment at 2B.

The souvenir grinds is the worst thing that's gotten into MLB The Show... perhaps ever? It's all just so blatant and depressing. The fun of The Show is playing baseball, not spending hours flipping between programs trying to read how much an Indians hat is worth in trade and the shop trying to max purchase power. My heart sank when I saw the new career arcs when I should have been super excited, especially with guys like Johnny Bench in the mix.

I enjoy the market grind but the souvenirs seem to be a failed experiment. What do you think they should do to wall people off from these career arc/immortals players? Time sink only? I'm sure they'll switch it up again next year.

Pujols, griffey and piazza have been discovered.....

Not surprised. Going to be an interesting ranked season.

Personally, I'd like to see progression gated by playing baseball things. Not just games and stats, but maybe some skills challenges in practice mode for these players? Home Run Derby participation, zone hitting challenges, pitch recognition challenges, or perhaps even situation based statistics (get X pinch hits in the 7th inning or later), that kind of thing?

I mean, I guess you could just call those things time grinds. I get it.

I get that the souvenirs encourage purchasing stubs with real money. Trust me, I get that. But I'd love to see more creative ways to separate me from my money. Buying stubs to do this souvenir grind just feels kinda bad. It's a bummer.

Yeah majority of the community seems to agree. I wouldn't mind those changes or even more of a focus on a h2h grind, but there was a large community backlash with the Musial release because it forced folks to play h2h.

TBF, H2H can be miserable. I'm certainly not opposed to the idea of certain programs highlighting certain modes in the game. One of the things I love most about The Show is that the programs force me to use players I wouldn't normally use. That 2011 Matt Joyce is one of my most used players this year, something I never would have done without the program structure.

I've never touched the practice mode. If there was a program that made me go to that and do stuff I'd probably learn to be a better player, heh.

I wonder if LS diamond prices will rebound

lol nope, you get a diamond for 20 event wins

God damn, people in the event with career arc Pujols and Thomas in the lineup :|

Just gonna quit early in these game so I can face more scrubs to get it done faster

Dunno if this was a good idea but I did all the new career arc souvenir exchanges so I know what I can sell........and oh my god I have a lot to sell

Couldn't finish Larkin or Schmidt yet but I got all the others done

I also finished the bobble collection to get Joe Carter who is one of my favourite players ever

Pulled a Puig bat in one of my ranked season souvenir reward packs and didn't even need it for the arc exchanges :)

Yea, I have 34 but one is Cutch and there is no way I'd lock him in

You also get a few from the all star packs but I'd still need to progress in a bunch of epics which I don't really feel like at this point

Tried an all catcher lineup to grind stats and quit after the first half inning..........I want to scream, it's so boring

rofl hit for the cycle with flashback Jason Castro, first time I've done that

Bought the game last week. First The Show game since 2014. Looks great on the Pro, but man still doesnt look as good as those initial gifs they showed at the start of the gen. The animations still look like they did on the PS3. I really hope they take a year off and do a complete overhaul of the graphics engine.

Gameplay feels much better. Line drives are hit hard enough so they can go into gaps and you can actually hit doubles over the outfielders shoulders. that was my biggest issue with MLB the Show 14. I also like the minor change they made to the Analog hitting, flicking it up will do a normal swing and pushing it back and up will do a power swing.

But man I went on a 10 game losing streak after the game bumped me to all-star difficulty. i couldnt hit anything. Had like 6 hits a game and im pretty sure i didnt have any hits with runners in scoring position for a good 5 straight games. The hitting once again is way too punishing. I hate messing with sliders since it feels like cheating but after a 6-16 start with the yankees I decided to increase the timing and contact windows. It was so frustrating being just early and just late on some pitches and instead of the balls going to left or right field, the game would just foul them off. On the rare occassion where i would get both good contact and good timing, the game would decide to do a weak fly ball or worse a line drive hit straight to the fielders. I might increase the difficulty from allstar to hall of fame now that I am hitting the ball much better, but man i really wish the game was balanced a little better.

i used to play the MVP series on the hardest difficulty and always felt challenged and rewarded. guys who hit in the 300s typically ended the season over 300. it felt realistic and yet you could break some records if you really got good at the game. In the 5-6 Show games i have played since 2006 have all been way too unforgiving for one reason or another. we finally have good ball physics that result in more line drives and grounders that actually make it past infielders but the hitting window for some reason has been tweaked to be exactly like the big leagues. i get that i can change the sliders but i feel like shouldnt be balancing the game myself to get realistic batting averages and scorelines.

the Sim system is also hilariously broken. i was leading a game 9-1 last night and decided to sim the last few innings. angels came back to score 8 runs in the 8th inning to take a one run lead. i took control and somehow managed to tie it in the 9th only for them to hit a walk off home run off of chapman. never again.
