Just like when Obi-Wan told Luke that Darth Vader killed his father.

What a twist!
When ANH was made, Vader did kill Anakin. Vader being Luke's father was a retcon and creates a couple inconsistincies in the OT. Like the fact that Vader can sense Obi Wan and Luke but couldn't sense Leia standing right infront of his face.

Well, we know because he said it.

If you're going to then say, "He might be lying," you're just building your own narrative.

He was also aware of what Rian was going to do before he did it. If JJ had an issue with what Rian did, he wouldn't come back to the franchise to "clean up" after. He's above that point in his career.
I'm not saying "he might be lying"

I'm saying that he had a contract and understands how the industry works and expecting that he'd honestly speak his mind if he didn't like TLJ is incredibly naive.

You're also making the unreasonable assumption that if Abrams didn't like TLJ, that it's enough to make him say "nah I don't want to make this installment for one of the biggest movie franchises in the history of cinema."

lol good point. It's funny to hear people bitch about retcons and not having things planned, when SW has always done that. Vader being Lukes father was a last minute retconned addition, as was Leia being his sister. It shows painfully in how the script for the OT was written.

The script for TLJ was written during production of TFA. He was an exec producer on TLJ. No doubt he was on board with the major beats.

Can't mess up that beautiful face and hair. Jon Hamm might be a better Thrawn.

Yeah it's been so long I don't really remember what Thrawn was supposed to look like. Didn't he have like red eyes or something? Read those books ( actually it was one big thick book with all the trilogy in it.. I'm pissed that I don't have it anymore :( ) when I was like 13/14 years old, 31 now haha.

So you're not saying he might be lying, just heavily implying it

A long time ago..... In a galaxy far far away.....

WOMEN WARS

EPISODE 9 : WHAT THE FUCK?

All the men have died....

Every single fucking one. Finn, Poe, Broom Kid, even Kylo Fucking Ren. All of them are dead. There are only women now. We've added more women this time. They will not have Twitter or Instagram accounts. Watch them furiously enjoy hot filthy lesbian sex while they lament about not needing men ever again you pissy nerds. Also Luke was perfect in TLJ so suck that shit up and tuck in your chin. We know you bought a ticket just to cry about later on your favorite website.

*Text fades off screen, show picture of stars in sky, pan downward to first scene*

Thrawn is a blue humanoid with red eyes.
but if youre a thrawn fan, while the thrawn trilogy is no longer canon, he got a new in canon book and also shows up in S3 and 4 of Star Wars Rebels as the main antagonist.

Here you go, and you should read the new canon novel which is also by Timothy Zahn, and the first of a trilogy whose second volume is out in about three weeks.

Kinda hoping she's part of the First Order. There hasn't been a good female villain in Star Wars and whatever potential Phasma went into the garbage with her. And especially with the First Order in an unstable place, it'd be neat for her to be the glue that keeps it together while Kylo and Hux are stupid and driven by ego.

If the Sith were still around she'd make an awesome villain. More people need to watch The Americans and witness Darth Elizabeth in action. Her ruthlessness would make Vader shudder!

Let's all have a good laugh when we find out she's voicing some random droid that's in the film for a few scenes.

Could easily explain it by thinking that Leia hadn't "awakened" until she met Luke.

-Ben explains that Rey was never a nobody. She was the daughter of one of Luke's students he killed, an extremely talented one, called 'Mara.' Mara ended up as Luke's wife.
-Ben and Rey form an implied Romantic attatchment and go off searching for Mara. They find her where she explains the whole story to them.
-Ben and Rey set up a new academy on this planet Mara is on. The ghost of Luke appears, along with Leia and Han. Ben sees them and apoligises deeply for everything he has done. He starts coughing. He is weak from the fight with Rey. Luke and the other ghosts, now joined by Yoda forgive him.
-Ben dies on the planet in Rey's arms. Rey cries. She sets up the academy in his name and trains many students.

lol. nah. you dont need to spoiler this.

Another white brunette? Man they sure are committed to diversity.

With how prominent Finn has been in TLJ, they need to balance things somehow.

Ahem.

I think she's an absolutely fine actress. Good casting, and honestly no clue what role she could be playing. Zero ideas of where IX is supposed to go, which is good and bad at the same time.

Whatever she's playing, it will probably not be a very important role. Would be silly to introduce some super important person in the final movie of the trilogy.

Movie literally tells the audience that Rey's parents are nobody and irrelevant.

"SHE MUST BE REY'S MOM OMG"
Rian Adams has literally said that that isn't necessarily set in stone, as JJ Abrams' script wasn't written yet. I don't expect them to change it (nor do I think they should), but it's still a very real possibility.

We already found out in TLJ. What we'll find out in Episode 9 is if JJ decides to undo one of the best scenes in Star Wars for the sake of the biggest cliche in Star Wars.
Again, you can say the same thing about Johnson undoing what Abrahams did in tfa. Ultimately if he "undoes" it he'd only be undoing what Johnson originally undid in the first place.
