For anyone struggling with Lost Kin dream boss, the combo of Quick Focus + Spore Shroom + Defender's Crest is extremely potent. Visibility suffers a bit from Defender's Crest, though, so you could leave that away even though that makes it harder to quickly focus if there are already fire ghosts nearby.

The best is that, even though the spores do appear to deal dmg to the boss, it doesn't wake him up from his staggering state, meaning you can get 3 focus heals in, if you have the soul.

I love the game but man do I wish there were more fast travel points. It feels so tedious. I spend most of the time just backtracking and such to go see npcs, exploring areas I missed cause I didn't have an ability, or deposit geo etc.

I get really frustrated because the Dash feels like it happens a few frames slower than it should. So I am constantly trying to use the shade cloak to dash through something.... and I just get hit anyway. I don't think this is one of those "get used to it" kind of things. I legit think it I'm pressing it at the right time and it just happens on a ever so slight delay.

Before one of the DLC, they didn't have a fast travel point in the Ancient Basin and I must have traveled down that huge elevator shaft like thirty times to visit that area. Was a major pain in the ass.

After ten plus hours I finally figured out that I need to buy the lantern, and not earn an upgrade, to go into the pitch black rooms. Fuck me.

After eleven billion attempts (approximated) at Lost Kin (dreamy Broken vessel on steroids), my little brother just said "god you suck" and cheesed it.

Now I wish you could replay a boss fight since I'd like to actually get it done myself. But I'm amazed it even worked.

He just grappled the very top right corner while charging superdash. None of the boss' attacks reach you up there. Defender's Crest smell kills any ghosts before they touch you. And while you hide up there, Weaversong buddies just kill the boss. He told me this works on Failed Champion as well.

I do feel proud of myself for killing Soul Tyrant though. His fakeout slam is still really hard for me to avoid but I managed to not get hit at all by any of his other attacks once I got the rythm down.

What the fuck Watcher Knight how is anyone supposed to handle this fucking fight there's too much going on

I can't keep track of stuff happening outside the frame

Did they deliberately design it so that your dash is a few pixels too short to consistently dash safely over these guys?

The trick is to kill the individual knights quickly so that you don't get overwhelmed.

You might want to give up for now and come back with better charms and an upgraded nail.

I've upgrade my nail three times. The problem is that when I'm focusing on one knight suddenly another dashes in from offscreen and hits me in the face or locks me in the corner

The fact that there's a cooldown on the shadowdash is some real bullshit

There really should be resting points next to the boss fights. I mean at a certain point it just becomes a blatant waste of time running back.

Beat hollow knight recently and love it. Here to recommend dead cells if you like the hollow knight combat and are looking for something else to play. Dead Cells has the best 2d combat I've ever played.

That was a tough battle. Took me a ton of attempts. I'd start the battle by standing behind the first one that appears and getting a few hits in and then pummeling him as much as I could until the second guy showed up. Only heal after you've defeated one and before the next guy appears. And use the wall jump and air dash to escape. Try to keep both enemies on the same side. Use the shell charm for healing.

But yeah, it's tough

There's so much bullshit about the hitboxes and the spacing in this fight jesus christ I'm about to throw my controller out the window. It feels like its making me discard everything I've learned about playing defensively and dodging

You don't even need shadowdash to beat them tho.

Real talk: Shadowdash trivializes every boss except the ones that require it to access, including the dream bosses (maybe not NKG or the iterative versions of some of them, never fought).

There's an item you can get that reduces this tedium.

It allows you to place a warp point wherever you want. I always use this before tough bosses.

If you have 900 essence don't forget to use the dream gate.

Spells are pretty good in that fight. Here's the fight from a player with only 6 masks and old nail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo3IP77nFaA

You have a lot of i-frames when using the dive spell so if you have enough soul just spam it until you run out because you won't be damaged while using it.

How am I supposed to dodge when one is rolling at me and one is bouncing at me?

I had my nail fully upgraded when I beat it, but while using the following strategy, I was able to prevent no more than 2 knights from being active at once, which is pretty managable imo
Flukenest + Shaman Stone + Spell Weaver combo. The powered up flukes take out the knights fairly quickly, and since they're your main source of damage, you can focus primarily on evading while mostly using your nail just to build more Soul.

Do you have double jump yet? I feel there's no problem getting over them with double jump.

Do you have charge slash and quick charge? That's good for laying on damage quickly, which is important in this fight. If you kill them fast enough you should only have to fight at most 2 at a time, which should be dodgeable.

The key is try and not let those scenarios happen. Be very aggressive and it will prevent one or both from doing any manner of movement for a while since they use a swipe attack when you're up close.

If not, climb on the wall and dash when the bouncer hits the ground.

How is he pulling off that spell from mid-air? It never goes off when I do it in mid-air, only when I'm on the ground

Lots of people seem to be having problems with Watcher Knights. I remember dying 3-4 times but I don't think I found them too difficult. Just focus on killing one at a time very quickly.

Pretty much. It was so close to smashing my switch so many times because of those assholes. I somehow beat them by some miracle, but couldn't tell you how and I probably couldn't do it again. Just an infuriating fight.

Here's what I did:

extra soul from nail hits Charm. Grubsong. The Flukemarm Charm Which makes your projectile attack OP as hell.

That Flukemarm Charm makes it so 80 damage, which is like 4 hits of a max-level Nail, and it goes through enemies so it hits two Knights at once. With Shaman Stone it's like 112 per hit. And each Knight has like 220 health.

I have something really weird happening on the PC version. I played for 50 hours with no problems, but suddenly when I save and quit, when I restart, my B button no longer responds except in menus. So I can't use spells at all or heal. Even remapping the buttons doesn't work - if I switch B to A the hitting A doesn't work. I've tried using both controller settings and the Big Picture controller settings. Nothing is working and it affects all of my saves. I don't have any mods installed and I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game. It's broken and I don't know why. :(

Oh wow, it's not just the controller. The spell button doesn't work on my keyboard either. How would this happen and why doesn't a reinstall fix it?

I beat Traitor Lord!!!!! Holy fuck, what an asshole, but now he's dead as shit!

I beat four more dream warriors tonight, got enough essence for the dream gate, then kept going at Traitor Lord. In the end I just kept hugging the right wall, pogo, dash, repeat. Beat him with one mask left.

I love this game!

Finally beat:

Hornet 2
Crystal defender 2
Lost kin

The loadout of stalwart shell, quick focus, spore shroom, defenders crest and grubsong actually gives you a fighting chance!

I have to agree with you there. The art direction seem to focus on letting the player know exactly what enemy they're against even out of the corner of their eye. A lot of high contrast clashing. It's effective since you need to know enemy behavior at an instant as you hop and roll from one encounter to the next but it isn't pretty.

I wish I had known this before fighting the Traitor Lord...I had around 800 essence and had no idea what the 900 essence reward was (still about 70 essence short, actually)...On the bright side, if I ever need to, I can easily platform in
Queen's Garden
to get to where the Traitor Lord is without getting hit at all, both with and without the Shadow dash charm. Kinda stung losing the 3k geo without realizing that Shadow Dash changed how far the character dashes with
The fountain, the 4th nail upgrade, and all 3 unbreakable charms
still outstanding.

Congrats! Beating Traitor Lord is probably the biggest combination of relief and satisfaction that I've felt in this game. Watcher Knight(s) was the only other fight that evoked a similar feeling for me.

Yo, I had this happen to me too, once. Am on PC with steam version and Xbox controller. I think eventually restarting the PC or so fixed it. But that was really weird.

What I'm also having an issue is with is my mouse cursor slowly wondering to the left-bottom when tabbing to desktop / second screen. Doesn't happen particularly often but once it does occur, I have to restart steam. Probably some controller issues with the game.

I've tried rebooting my PC and it didn't fix it. I've been messing with it for an hour now and the only thing that works is starting a new save - which then breaks as soon as I quit the game. I literally had 0 issues for 50+ hours and now I can't get it to work at all.

My biggest problem with the game. The pointless, tedious backtracking just to have another shot at a boss. When they're so difficult, you want to jump back in straight away, not have all your motivation to try again sapped because you have to make your way there (at half soul).

Remember that the Shade Cloak needs to recharge. You can't use it right away. It needs like 2 seconds to recharge... you can see a little shadow burst or something when you can use the Shadow again.

Their attack pattern is actually very easy to dodge. Just learn to dodge them and you'll be most of the way there.

Then again if you've only upgraded your nail once you might want to come back later.

You fight one, then two together. The only thing I think you could truly benefit from in that fight is the dash. Other than that, I sidestepped every attack. It's all about learning patterns in that fight. Once I learned the patterns it turned into a dance. My favorite fight in the game.
