Yeah, I'll definitely watch them when I can, OP. I didnt vote last time so I definitely will this time. Watched Trump's speech in Montana and thought he did a good job. Liked what he had to say. Will be interesting to see what the next debate will be like. Maybe I'll side more with someone else when the debates happens. Who knows?

I mean, the majority of what he said was straight up fabricated ignorant bullshit. So yeah.

It's hard to think that the dumbass American public takes the debates seriously when Hillary won so handily in the debates in 2016 and still lost the election. Trump could have a Rick Perry moment and his remaining supporters wouldn't care.

What part did you like? The child interment camps, the insulting rape victims, the insulting Native Americans, or the dementia fueled ramble about Elton John?

Mainly what he's doing for our economy. Looks like he's pulling the right moves.

I also think the whole space force idea is logical and makes a lot of sense to put into place.

I do want to get back on topic though. I would have never known about this stuff it I hadnt watched it. So yeah. Will be watching the debates.

I doubt the democrats will have a candidate worth my attention, so probably not, no. I might watch the primaries though.

I will also say that Trump's speeches have made me more interested in what he has to say because I get the whole "I tell it how it is" kind of vibe from him. He's looser than any other president I can remember.

That's why I'll watch the debates. Hard to go back to the other president's speeches after that. Maybe others can be as open as him.

If you saw his last speech, he made it a point to talk about him cursing and being offensive to others who think he should be formal. Watch that part. Kinda interesting

Is this a joke?

Ok, definitely a joke.

I will, I'm hoping this is an insane moment in our history and that the openly violent rhetoric doesn't return in my lifetime. In my ideal world president Harris (or whoever) picks him apart in these debates and wins.

Optimistic to be sure, but I want to see it.

I'm voting against him and everything that stands with him. I don't need to watch stupid theatrics to know that.

If anything, I'll watch 'highlights' of the dem nominee and their answers to questions.

I love election season because of the debates. I started watching them in the 2004 cycle with the Democratic primary debates when I was about 9 or 10. My parents did their best to explain to me the importance of knowing policies and determining who to vote for based on that and not just picking red or blue. And I feel like most of the time debates are good for that. 2016 that wasn't really the case. I'm so looking forward to the Democratic debates because I want to see rational people discuss policy and make a case for their party.

There will be a thread about every single one of Trump's comments. It'll be unavoidable. Especially on here.

No, Trump didn't answer any questions against Hillary and used whataboutism to deflect. He flopped hard, but still won the election. Hardly anyone watches it anyway. He'll wing it like last time and proceed to say he won it, just cuz he said so lol. The debate is a huge fucking joke especially with him there.

Nope I avoid live tv and the radio during political season as I don't care enough to listen to old people argue with each other.

Whoa, what is wrong with you attacking me like that? All I did was form an opinion on Trump. Pretty new to politics and honestly liked what he had to say. Most of it. Not all.

He got me interested in politics. I will likely watch the debates now. That's that.

Trump stands for hatred and bigotry and after the last two years, if you still support him, you do to. Congrats on being awful. And probably a troll. Honestly at this point people that have the nerve to say he did a good job at a rally are completely suspect.

It's cute to think that just because a person likes some of the things our president does is now considered a troll.

I never said I liked all of what he is doing.

But I do suppose it is all or nothing when you vote. You pick your poison. You dont have a pick in every little thing a president does.

You are choosing to ignore child internment camps, racism, bigotry, sexually assaulting women, and more just because you might make slightly more money (but probably not) and because of a space force that won't really exist in any sort of capacity you are hoping for.

I'm not one for ad hominem but Jesus Christ I wonder how people like you live in society if supporting the sitting POTUS is somehow beyond the pale. Especially when disapproval dropped and approval rose after the immigration scandal. You are by far the most hostile and toxic poster I've ever seen and I spent years reading the bullshit that came out of the previous forum too so I guess congratulations are in order.

I have broken more Elton John records, he seems to have a lot of records. And I, by the way, I don't have a musical instrument. I don't have a guitar or an organ. No organ. Elton has an organ. And lots of other people helping. No we've broken a lot of records. We've broken virtually every record.

Because you know, look, I only need this space. They need much more room. For basketball, for hockey and all of the sports, they need a lot of room. We don't need it. We have people in that space. So we break all of these records.

Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

the trolls are fierce today. Truly, the most toxic shit you read is calling out the awfulness for what it is. Won't someone think of the racist children.

If you voted for the xenophobe who said the former president was from Kenya and that Mexicans are bringing drugs and crime (and are rapists) when he began his campaign, you're racist. That clearly wasn't a dealbreaker for you because you're racist and are complicit in allowing a racist president to enact a racist agenda.

I like it tbh. Some democrats are finally learning respect in politics gets you nowhere, not like it ever came from the other side.

Glad we don't gotta pretend to respect a racist and all his supporters just because he's in the White House.

There is no medical school equivalent for politics aside from public behavior. Celebrities are people just like anyone else, and I agree that it's absurd, but get real. We live in an absurd world, one in which celebrities are deeply embedded into our culture. Trump is the 2nd out of the last 4 Republican presidents to come from pop culture entertainment. The Republicans are so vile, they'll run the few Republican celebrities they can, just to put a "fun" face on it, and it always works. Jesse Ventura, Schwarzenegger were Republicans too. Al Franken is (was) the lone Democrat celebrity, but doesn't need to be. All of the good celebrities are Leftists. It's time to take that charisma & fame and use it for something good for everybody instead of just for personal profit.

An effective president doesn't necessarily need tons of experience in a broken political system. They just need to know how to surround themselves with people they can trust to carry out an agenda. Trump is terrible at this, and it's why his administration is a bad joke. That doesn't necessarily mean that all celebrity Presidents would be just as bad, or if a President came from a real estate background. For high-level executive roles like the Presidency, what truly matters is character, curiosity, understanding, wisdom, and strength in decision-making.

There is a reason that members of legislature/parliament, etc., around the world are called "lawmakers," or that John Adams espoused a "government of laws, and not of men." We have Donald Trump personally interviewing candidates for the Supreme Court. Writing executive order after executive order, and having those orders scrutinized by the courts for legality.

This list of presidents shows that 31/45 have attended law school or practiced law in their careers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Presidents_of_the_United_States_by_education

As much as ineffable qualities of leadership matter, at some point there's gonna be legislation on the president's desk that needs signing, and while they can have lawyers (or lobbyists) in the room explaining it to them, it helps if the POTUS speaks the language.

I don't plan to. Trump's stupid as shit ramblings provide me with no entertainment value and there is no way I would vote for him, so I don't really see the point in watching the debates.
