Er, because of the XP multiplier it's supposed to be 20,000. If it's 10,000 post-multiplier that means it's awarding T4 XP.

Shiny rate being the same is disappointing. My shiny rate for legendaries total so far is like 1/90. There is no way that 1/19 or 1/20 rate is correct.
I really hope it's not too hard to find people to do the raids with for people who start an hour late. It was pretty annoying to announce that it was only a three hour event the same week of the event. Couldn't really schedule myself around it.
Caught 5 out of 7 Articuno, no Shiny, but enough Articuno to help me boost my old strongest one.
I just went to a normal busy spot, there were about 40 people there, and we just drove from there in small groups of 8-10. Another group did the same by bike. First one to arrive jumps in, then everyone follows in. No splitting in groups, no maxing balls, just going through it. Almost never lost my first Pokémon, in 7 raids I only had to use my second Pokémon once.

You think Articuno is worth powering up? Don't know what to spend my rare candy on and my bag is always full.
Asking in my local group if anyone is willing to let me ride in their car, and just drive and do as many raids as we can in 3 hours. Offering $20 for gas.
Hope someone is willing. Hoping to do at least 25 raids, using Lucky Eggs so I can finally level up to Level 37. Wouldn't mind really grinding my way towards a shiny, either.

I did 44 Lugia without a shiny. Thats just how the shiny game goes, you'll get over it.
I was curious, so I went and calculated exactly how many shiny eligible legendary raids I've done:
Lugia: 2 shiny in 39 raids
Ho-Oh: 2 shiny in 45 raids
Kyogre: 1 shiny in 52 raids
Overall: 5 shiny in 136 raids = 1/27.2
So this makes it seem like in that 3 hour window, there will only be 5 star eggs, and it will constantly be up?not sure where this is but hot damn
Walked past about 20 Articuno raids and not one of them had a single person raiding.

No eggs at all. Raids pop up without warning at 2 PM (like they did in the period eggs weren't a thing) and last the entire three hours.
You really, really have to coordinate with other players outside the game if you want to get raids done, especially when every raid has a three hour duration. Even places that you can normally just walk up and get a random PUG aren't going to be quite the same with a 3 hour duration vs. the normal 45 minutes.
I know, I know, I know! I just don't want to do that, I play this game solo, I don't feel comfortable interacting with strangers and I want to play the game at my own convenience without having to coordinate with others.
Still can't help but feel frustrated when I see hundreds of raids everywhere and I can't casually get involved.
so each gym will last 3 hours instead of resetting every 1 hour? Meaning if i have 9 raid passes total, i would have to hit 9 gyms instead of hitting 3, 3 times?
im same as you, but i work in Financial District in NYC, and 5star raids are always full capacity when the egg pops.
I wish it was like that here (London). I check every raid that I pass to see if anyone has joined it but 98% of the time it's at 0. And I know there's a very active community, there's just too many raids and they're too spread out.
In the early days the raids in the centre of town were nearly always at capacity but even when I'm in the hotspots I rarely find anyone raiding these days.
I'd resigned myself to just getting the legendaries via quests but I feel like I'm missing out when there are events, EX raids and such.
I respect your desire to play solo, but the interaction with others goes as far as seeing someone post a time and a place and simply typing "in". There are plenty of people that show up to raids who don't utter a word.
In that sea of hundreds of raids there are people raiding, you just don't know where they started.
So how do you get the free raid passes? I don't think I'll have time to go out today and raid, but would like to get the freebies.
You get one when you spin a gym , after you use it you spin a gym and get another - you can't stack them
So unless you have the afternoon to dedicate to raiding Articuno you basically don't get anything from this "global bonus reward"? That's lame.
Yeah, I know. I did try the whole Discord thing at one point for a few raids, it wasn't for me.
Raids just don't happen where I live/work, even organised ones. In London people generally only raid in the centre of town (zone 1/2), so to get involved I have to essentially dedicate my day to PoGo, travelling into town, paying for transport, trying to get to the raid spots on time etc.
It's a level of time, effort and dedication that I'm not willing to regularly put into the game, I want to the play the game at my convenience and fit it around my life, not vice versa.
I've been playing daily since launch though so I don't want to drop the game even though they've steadily increased the social focus over time.
You could always spoof. It lets you get in the fun from wherever you are.

Just an option. It doesn't hurt anyone as long as you aren't trying to take gyms from people.
Did about 14 raids today, zero shiny articunos and best one was only 89%.

With the low shiny rate, I really hope that the other two reward days aren't Zapdos/Moltres and instead a legendary anyone who played in the past 3 months didn't get for free.

Shame I couldn't take advantage of shiny Articuno and free raid passes, but there's still Community Day for extreme hatching, catching, and raiding.

I can understand why some people spoof. If you live in a rural area or if weather conditions suck but you want to catch stuff during an event. Or if Niantic put up a 3 hour window with a low catch rate to catch a legendary and you want a 9 hour window instead.
About to head out to the spot to see how it goes. I have no idea what the order people here are doing raids are but hopefully I'll find a little train to latch on to. Hopefully it won't be too hard because Articuno is so easy to kill and most people probably h ave at least some decent rock tyranitars after the last community day.
I have never been around so many spoofers . What in the world man . I'm down in Santa Monica cruising the pier. Gyms being taken over left and right from all teams every single minute. I'm sitting here battling them all alone, I don't see anyone else physically around me what so ever. Is this what it's like now? I used to play two years ago in the hey day, and this is a totally weird feeling .

Would be a more exciting PoGo weekend with these events back to back if the shinies weren't so lame. Both Articuno and the Squirtle family shiny sprites are nearly indistinguishable from their standard forms.
I'm only gonna use the 5 free passes on Articuno and if I don't get a shiny, oh well. Probably won't go hard tomorrow either. Just get a couple of shiny Squirrel and call it a day.
I've got a bunch of raid passes I'm saving for shiny Raikou or Groudon. Hopefully one of them are up next.
