It wont drown in November?

That's kind of my point though. Where do you move it and why bother moving it if it's going to get overshadowed no matter when it releases?

At least in november they're a couple of weeks after Fallout and a month or more away from cod, battlefield, red dead and assassin's creed. So maybe they can carve out some attention for themselves at this date. Move it into Q1 and they'd have to dodge kingdom hearts, re2 remake, anthem, days gone, division 2 and more.

The gameplay looked really bad

As a Darksiders fan, i don't expect much from this

I feel like they are starting their marketing campaign way too late. I don't know about anyone else, but for me, I've already decided on what games I'll get this year and what I'll skip. And looking at this year's line-up, DS3 has to be nothing short of a masterpiece to be included into my 2018 games list.

We are getting a lot of great games man.

Shit!!! Hope this turns out to be false. Want it to be 2019 along with Metro Exodus and Biomutant. Finished Darksiders 1 ten days ago and will play Darksiders 2 but wanted to take a break for a few months. Also, the release date could hurt it. I would like this in June 2019 or around that time. After Metro Exodus and an early summer game which we almost never get.

Glad it's releasing in the fall when there is nothing else coming out.

Seriously would it kill a company to release something in july/aug?

Summer 2019 is what I had in my head. These types of games would get more attention in June/July.
The original plan was always to have the game release in 2018, if the game is ready I'd rather they release it on time than delay it an entire year. I don't see the game performing poorly but I don't think itll do massive numbers either. But the project seems to be budgeted and managed accordingly as Im sure they've learned from the mistakes with the second game.

Just happy the game is finally coming out, its been a long 6 years. And for me personally, there isn't much coming this fall I care for, outside of maybe RDR2 and F76

Exactly the way i think. And i'm already with an eye in 2019, with so many great games coming early

The gameplay shown so far needs to be almost 2x faster. It's way too slow atm

The only major titles coming out after October this year are Smash and Fallout 76. One of which is a shared world online shooter and the other is a nintendo exclusive fighting game.

There's plenty of room to fit Darksiders 3 at the end of november, an entire month removed from RDR2, AC:OD, SOTTR and all the big shooters.

If it's moved to next year it needs to contend with:
Sekiro
Kingdom Hearts 3
Rage 2
Anthem
Days Gone
Metro Exodus
RE:make 2
Division 2
Devil May Cry 5

Moving it to 2019 would be far worse for the game. Sekiro and DMC 5 would also be direct competitors with a similar audience and more brand recognotion behind both.

I've enjoyed both Darksiders very much, so there's a huge chance I'll buy this game day one. What I've seen so far looks impressive!

Wow, we've barely seen the game and it's almost done?

I'd buy it in November no problem, but i think it would stand a better chance in March.

I really doubt that. They recently hired on a new combat designer, the game hasn't been previewed at all yet, and Nordic declined to commit to a release window just a couple months ago.

Game is coming out in 2019.

The gameplay looked really bad
They hired somebody from NetherRealm to work on the combat.

Also, the bits they showed were basic combat (so the character didn't have any upgraded moves or ability unlocks).

The design priority is also different (they want more Dark Souls and less DMC). Unfortunately, God of War also just did this and did it spectacularly well (it's going to be impossible to avoid comparisons now).

This is my qualm about it. RDR, ACO and such won't stop hitting. They will hit for months.
After 2017 and this year, spring is no longer a relatively safe period to release smaller games. So its either release it as planned, or wait until next summer and hope that other big games don't start releasing then too.

At the very least, in terms of genre there isn't much else coming this fall/winter period that competes with it. Tomb Raider and Spiderman would be the closest, but Spiderman is september and Tomb Raider is october.

But going up against Sekiro and DMC5 is a far worse idea than releasing in a timeframe full of shooters.

Great, never thought it will make 2018. THQ is going to be at Gamescom next month so hopefully we will get a confirmation for this and Biomutant

Seems like a terrible idea to release this game in holiday time, March 2019 when the calendar is sorta dead and people are looking for something new to play would seem better. Its right after black friday as well so people will be picking up a bunch of games on deep discounts, gonna be hard to justify paying MSRP for a game with little buzz.

What's the size of the development team? I find it hard to believe they'd go from the state the game was in just a few months ago to a complete Darksiders game in that amount of time unless they have dozens of people working on it.

Zero chance that's the actual release date. If it is, it's being sent to die with how little we've seen since the awful alpha gameplay.

If this gets released in November it's gonna go double plastic
It needs to be a spring time game and under 40 dollars

Has anything been said? We've seen basically nothing of the game and have very little details about anything other than the basic plot.
They've actually got two doccumentaries on both Gunfire as a studio and the Darksiders franchise, both with bits of info on the state of 3, whos working on it, how it came together and how its coming. Contrary to popular belief, it seems to be going quite smoothly and they say they've had more time to plan and figure things out than they had working on 2. Gunfire also posts about the game a lot on instagram, a lot of it is random stuff, but they post concept art and other small tidbits there.

The game seems to be in a solid state and there's absolutely nothing to suggest troubled development or that it'll be delayed. They just seem unsure how to market the game right now. A lot of comments in this thread are downright ridiculous.

I honestly expected the game to be released in 2019. We'll see what is THQ Nordic planning for their Gamescom marketing push.

And again we've seen more gameplay of this than the game y'all voted most anticipated!! Hype cycles man

I agree with your last sentence for sure. The first paragraph I was unaware of, that's good to hear. DS 2 was an unfortunately situation, as THQ had to rush it out the door to try and save themselves... What we got was quite good but it could have been something really special. I hope they are able to achieve that here with part 3. Whoever is doing the soundtrack has BIG shoes to fill though after 2.

My biggest problem with getting hype is that I don't care for whips as primary weapons and the combat looks eh because of it. If they have multiple weapons then maybe. Maybe.
