No there isn't. If Wonder Woman with a critically acclaimed and culturally significant movie could'nt do it, Captain Marvel has no chance.

Wonder Woman came out in the middle of summer, was expected to not do so well (because of two poorly received prior films), does not have the MCU, and a variety of other factors. There hasn't even been a trailer out for Captain Marvel to judge audiences. Saying there cannot be a billion dollar Captain Marvel, as of right now, is kind of crazy.

Midgar, With Love
Solo, yup. To be fair I think it looked better in the theater. Might just be crummy image quality in the GIF.

Maybe it does look a little off in the movie too though. I'd have to rewatch to confirm!

Ant-Man probably spent less on marketing than Wonder Woman and Deadpool 2 though, or at least it seems like their marketing was really low-key compared to those 2 as well as compared to the typical MCU film.
Deadpool 2 maybe but I remember everyone thinking Warner Bros was sending Wonder Woman to die with the lack of marketing for it. There were a lot of articles about it the month before it released. WB got pretty lucky it ended up being so successful from word of mouth mainly

Well, maybe. It definitely was true until a month prior to release, then it seemed like WW's marketing kicked into high-gear, but yeah, before then Justice League was getting more promo.

AM&TW didn't really seem like it even got any marketing push until the last couple weeks before release, once they had the premiere and press screenings and reviews went up.

I saw ads for it during the Stanley Cup and NBA Finals but yeah, the push didn't go in force til I wanna say after Incredibles 2 was out

Evangline Lily's Wasp always come off as cold for no reason too me.
Now that I think about it, is Mantis the only female hero in the MCU that isn't doing the hard as nails overly serious badass thing?

Feels like thats really hurt MCU Gamora in particular when she can be a really fun/wild character in the comics.

Basically.

It didn't even get a new trailer when they put it in front of Incredibles 2. It was just the second trailer with a re-edited ending that wasn't even released online.

I've been worrying about the marketing for this film for months now. Their were only 2 trailers, neither were really great like the last several MCU films, and they didn't even really start the push until after Incredibles 2.

It didn't even get a trailer ahead of Infinity War, the second trailer came out a week after for some reason. The first might have come out in front of Black Panther but to not have a good, new trailer ready for Infinity War is just odd. Maybe other studios were paying to get their biggest films in front of that and even Disney was like "Nah, we're good" on forking out to get AM&TW a spot.

But I guess you are right about the Stanley Cup and NBA Finals. The first trailer might have been shown at the Super Bowl as well but I don't remember, or maybe it was just Infinity War and the Black Panther car commercial but no Ant-Man.

I think Scarlet Witch is handled well, and I am one of the 5 people that like Black Widow and Hulk playing off of each other. Shuri, Valkyrie and Okoya are money

Valkyrie, Shuri, Okoye, Nakia, Witch, they're not cold as Nat or Gamora, Hope just broke it after she got her suit.

Carol is likely to be the fun badass.

I'd rather have a decent film without a shit Venom than a shit film with a good Venom. And Venom 2018 looks like it's gonna be a shit film with a shit Venom, so...
That's fine but if your there for Venom you might as well just watch the last 15 minutes, but then you might as well see the solo movie.

Paul Rudd was in Mute. Ant-Man could have made only $50M and it still wouldn't have been the biggest L for him.

Antman and wasp got pretty good marketing imo. Seriously up until the release I've seen nothing but commercials for it on tv. It's just one of those movies people aren't compelled to see day 1. It'll do fine BO wise. But most people will probably wait until it hits home video or streaming.
